The recently opened Royal Indian Cuisine may be the newest ethnic restaurant to hit the Rochester scene, but its owner is no stranger to the community’s foodies. Mr. Om Parkash is well known to the downtown lunch crowds who frequented India Curry House, which was once a staple in the food court of the former Galleria. “Doctors and nurses have been calling on our new restaurant to see if we were the ones who ran the India Curry House,” said Parkash. And indeed they were. These days, Parkash and his wife Maya are excited to provide the five-star service they’re known for to both new and returning customers in their newly remodeled restaurant on South Broadway. “Seeing smiles on the faces of our customers is the best part of my job,” says Maya. “Those smiles make us very proud.”

To ensure the food is five star as well, Om Parkash can be found in the kitchen of Royal Indian Cuisine whenever the restaurant is open. “I’ve been in the restaurant business since 1988,” says Parkash. “Bringing high-quality, authentic North Indian food to visitors and residents of Rochester is not just our business—it’s our passion.”
