Quick guide to booking a skip

Guide to Skips 4 Yard Mini Skip This size skip is ideal for small bathroom renovation projects, small garden projects or household/garage spring clean. Height varies: between 2.7ft -3.0ft Width: 4.3ft

6 Yard Skip This is our standard domestic skip ideal for general house clear-outs or small building works. This is the largest size skip you can use for soil and rubble. Height varies: between 3.6ft – 3.7ft Width: 5ft

How long can I keep my skip for? Our skips are available to hire for two weeks at a time so please bear this in mind when you book a skip. It’s best to be ready to fill the skip when it arrives. Generally though, we find that most people fill the skip relatively quickly and they want it removing from their property within the first week, so if this is the case for you, just give us a call to collect it.

You can book your skip online: www.shorts-group.co.uk or call your local office on: 01344 620 316

Guide to Skips 8 Yard Builders Skip This skip is ideal for light bulkier items, full property clearance or house extensions. Unfortunately, you can’t put large amounts of soil or other heavy materials in this skip as it may be to heavy to lift and could cause damage to the surface it’s on. If you have large amounts of soil or other dense, heavy materials to dispose of, please consider a 6 yard skip or ask about our hook and grab lorry services. Height varies: between 4ft – 4.2ft Width: 5.6ft 12 Yard Skip Ideal for commercial office and shop clearance or large building projects - bulky items. Light waste only please. Height varies: between 5.6ft- 6ft Width: 5.1ft

Where can I put my skip? Generally, we put skips on driveways. However, if you don’t have a drive or private land, then we can apply for a road permit for you from your local council. Council’s do charge for a permit and the price various depending on your local council. When booking your skip on the telephone, tell us that you need a permit and we can arrange this for you. Guide to Skips Grab Lorries If you don’t have space for one of our skips, then a grab lorry is the answer. A grab lorry can collect waste directly from the ground and can transport the equivalent of up to 18 cubic yards of materials. Alternatively we can supply you with ‘dumpy bags’ which hold approximately one tonne of waste. The grab lorry has a reach of approximately 4.5 metres from curb-side.

Tippers If you’ve got a large amount of waste to be removed from site, our tippers can remove up to 18 tonnes of waste in a single load. Tippers are generally used on building sites or removing soil from large landscape projects. We can also deliver our products, such as aggregates or compost, to you before removing your waste from site, which will reduce your delivery costs

What happens to my waste? All of the waste we collect is processed through our fully licensed Materials Recycling Facilities (MRF) in Ascot and Aldershot, where our aim is to prevent anything going to landfill. All of the waste is sorted and then sent for re-use or further processing. Waste materials which cannot be recycled, with the exception of hazardous or contaminated waste, are sent for reprocessing into ‘refuse derived fuel’ (RDF) to be used by energy plants.
