VIETNAM Vietnam is a country of contrast, made of land and sea, mountains and rivers, mĂŠgapolis and villages, tranquility and noise, bamboo huts and skyscrapers, ancients arts and modernity. Vietnam surprises, attacks, upsets amazes appeases and questions.

LAOS During my explorations in summer 2010 and 2012, I met a monk in Vientiane, who invited me for a ceremony and explained it all about bouddhism, I photographed kids jumping in the mekong river for an entire afternoon, I got offered a cigarette by an hermit, watch fishermen in the sunset and chess players on a beach at the delta of the mekong. I had an instant crush on Laos, twice. Laos brings you back to what really matters, a simple and quiet life, surrounded by nature and the most welcoming people of all.

It is a surrealistic project created by Frank Herfort, a young German born in Leipzig where he spent his youth, currently lives in Moscow. He studied at art school in Hamburg, where he gained experience with several photographers as an assistant, then worked as a freelance assistant in London while attending a scholarship program. Frank reached Moscow in his own car only with his photographic equipment covering various equipment such as lights, an average camera and a wide-format camera, etc.

When we look at your project, we realize that is different from all other photographic projects, it brings us to a world that seems to come from the 5th Dimension, a distant icy world that seems frozen in time. It makes you wonder whether it is real? If it will not be a dream what we see before our eyes? This work more than photography aesthetics, frames, lines and patterns, show us the social relationships between people and the environment around them. It makes us think that there are several parallel realities in this small world we call blue planet.
