About Leszek Paradowski: Native resident of Drawsko Pomorskie in Poland, local patriot, enchanted by the magical land where he lives. Holder of the artistic titles of AFIAP International Federation of Photographic Art and the PPSA of Photographic Society of America, artist photographer of Polish Republic’s Photoclub, Vice President of Fotoferia Club, member of Polish Nature Photographers’ Union. The Photographer constantly seeking his creative identity, realizing wide spectrum visions from photography of nature, landscape to conceptual, creative and act. All photos are done on location at exceptional scenery, thanks to that they acquire additional esthetic values and obtain the appropriate atmosphere. Recently special place in his work holds conceptual photography. With this form of art he is trying to stimulate the senses, emotions of the recipient, leaving freedom of interpretation at the same time. Sobre Leszek Paradowski: Residente e nativo de Drawsko Pomerânia, na Polónia, patriota local, encantado com a terra mágica onde vive. Detentor dos títulos artísticos da AFIAP- Federação Internacional de Arte Fotográfica e a PPSA da Photographic Society of America, fotógrafo artista de PhotoClub da República da Polónia , vice-presidente de Fotoferia Club, membro do Sindicato dos Fotógrafos da Natureza Polacos. O fotógrafo busca constantemente a sua identidade criativa, tendo visões de amplo espectro desde fotografia da natureza, paisagem ao conceitual. Todas as fotos são feitas no local no cenário excepcional, e é graças a isso que adquirem valores estéticos adicionais e obtêm uma atmosfera apropriada. About Cyril Crépin: Was born on 30th July of 1975. In 2000 he started working for the fashion blog “Runway to Retail”. At the same year he won an award for the best health education movie at the Filmed Festival. Six years later Cyril won the International Award for Best Film of Surgical Techniques also at the Festival Filmed. In 2008 he exhibited his photography projects “Venroloquist” and “Bad Kids”. Cyril has been exhibited also at the Nozoku Gallery in Atlanta, USA (“The Richie Kennedy Show”). In 2009 directed experimental short film “Endosymbiosis”. In 2010 e started the “In vU” project with the help of Professor Bernard Devauchelle. In 2011 he was a special guest at the France 3 news. His portfolio was published in the March issue of the PHOTO magazine. In 2012 his “Hitchcock Revisited“ project was exhibited in ‘’Hotel Bouctot - Vagniez” and he made a “large format” reportage for France 3. He won the 1st prize with “American Horror Story” series in a contest organized by Canal +. In 2013 he has exhibited his project “in vU” at the Maison de la Culture de Amiens. He also published this year his work at “LesPhotographes.com”.

Sobre Cyril Crépin: Nasceu a 30 de Julho de 1975. Em 2000 Começou a trabalhar para o blog de moda “Runway to Retail”. Nesse mesmo ano ganhou o prémio de melhor filme de educação para a saúde no Festival Filmed. Seis anos depois ganhou, a nível internacional, o prémio de melhor filme sobre técnicas cirúrgicas também no Filmed (feito que se repetiu dois anos depois). Em 2008 expôs as séries “Ventriloquist” e “Bad Kids”. Apresentou também na Nozoku Gallery em Atlanta, a série dadaísta “The Richie Kennedy Show”.Em 2009 realizou a curta-metragem experimental “Endosymbiose”. Em 2010 inaugura o “Projecto In vU” com a colaboração do Professor Bernard Devauchelle. Em 2011 foi convidado especial do telejornal da France 3 e o seu portfolio publicado na edição de Março da PHOTO magazine. Em 2012 expôs a série “Hitchcock Revisited” no Hotel Bouctot-Vagniez e ele fez uma Reportagem “Grande Formato”, na France 3. Nesse mesmo ano obteve o primeiro prémio de fotografia do Canal + com a série fotográfica “American Horror Story”. Em 2013 expôs o projecto “In Vu” na Maison de la Culture de Amiens. Este ano publicou ainda em “Les Photographes.com”.

In vU:
The monster is the negative half of living. Disfigurement became taboo after the First World War with the emergence of «broken faces», attraction from the masses since 1812. In England it stopped and abnormal or disfigured people were then forced to hide in order to exist.
O monstro é a parte negativa de vida. A desfiguração tornou-se tabu após a Primeira Guerra Mundial, com o aparecimento dos “rostos estragados”, uma atração para as massas desde 1812. Na Inglaterra, pararam e as pessoas “anormais” ou desfiguradas foram então forçadas a esconderem-se de forma a viverem.
Intrigued by teratology and influenced by the medieval fresco painting of Grünewald, Cranach, Bosch, Caravaggio, the sculptor Berlinde De Bruyckere, I strive to make the unbearable beautiful. Somewhere between the penetrating gaze of the subject and the crossing barriers of twisted flesh lies the deepest part of a person’s humanity. Like Diane Arbus, I portray the thrills of the human soul behind the horror.
Intrigado com teratologia e influenciado pelos frescos medievais de Grünewald, Cranach, Bosch, Caravaggio, o escultor Berlinde De Bruyckere, esforço-me para tornar o insuportável bonito. Algures entre o olhar penetrante do sujeito e o misturar de barreiras da carne torcida reside a parte mais profunda da humanidade de uma pessoa. Como Diane Arbus, eu retrato as emoções da alma humana por trás do horror.

Whether disfigured by accident or birth, the soul remains intact. The pathology listens to the distress and desire for acceptance of a crowd eager for ever more sensationalism.
Quer seja desfigurado por acidente ou nascimento, a alma permanece intacta. A patologia escuta a angústia e o desejo de aceitação de um público cada vez mais ávido por sensacionalismo.
Disability becomes beautiful, fascinating. The portrait is extraordinary, unusual and yet very real. The repulsion is transcended into a loved one who has loved. Dante Alighieri said in his Divine Comedy «There is no worse pain than the memory of happiness in times of misfortune». The monster has a function in our society, it has the power of normalisation, so why reject it?
Deficiência torna-se bela, fascinante. O retrato é extraordinário, incomum, mas muito real. A repulsa é transformada num ente querido que já amava. Dante Alighieri disse em sua Divina Comédia «Não há dor pior do que a memória da felicidade nos momentos de infortúnio». O monstro tem uma função em nossa sociedade, o poder de normalização, então porquê rejeitá-lo?

This sample from my series of 50 portraits of the most sever cases of disfigurement is a reflection on the beauty that is available to us, the aesthetic criteria that have changed, aim not the normalisation of difigurement, but its understanding and acceptance. It is to know that what we fear may be tamed and that the ugly can be beautiful.
Esta amostra de minha série de 50 retratos dos casos mais severos de desfiguração é uma reflexão sobre a beleza que está disponível para nós e os critérios da estética que foram alterados, têm como objectivo não a normalização da desfiguração, mas a sua compreensão e aceitação. We want to share this exhibit around the world. I hope galleries in the United States, Asia, England, Europe… will be brave enough to expose and thus give a face to the inhumanity.

About Mathieu Testa: Was born in 1982, in Lisbon. He has always been very observant. This work of observation has been part of hist growth as a person. When he began photographing in 2011, Mathieu felt this work of observation was the most component of his photos. Mathieu Testa don’t make stories, just try to catch the moments. Sometimes there is a story behind these moments. “The photograph itself doesn’t interest me. I want only to capture a minute part of reality.” Henri Cartier-Bresson
Sobre Mathieu Testa: Nasceu em 1982 e vive em Lisboa. Sempre foi muito observador. Este trabalho de observação ao longo da sua vida tem sido parte do seu crescimento como pessoa. Quando começou a fotografar em 2011, Mathieu sentiu que este trabalho de observação foi o componente mais importante das suas fotos. Mathieu Testa não faz histórias, apenas tenta capturar os momentos. Às vezes, há uma história por trás desses momentos. “A fotografia em si não me interessa.
