About

My art tells the stories of the relationships between me and my models. Before one brushstroke is put to canvas, I need to know absolutely everything about her. My artistic process requires time and a commitment to paint the unmediated truth discovered during this close relationship. It is an agonizing process but I am compelled to continue asking difficult questions.

Curator Review See the Bad One?

In this fascinating examination of a still life by artist Ira Stein, one can see that Stein has deliberately rejected the overtly representational and realistic, for the purely poetic and expressive. He has succeeded in heightening the emotion of the scene, through his use of vibrant color and staccatolike lines. His singular perspective with varied shadows and open spaces, gives great depth to the work and creates a compelling interaction between the viewer and the piece. - E.E. Jacks
