Situated on 3 Acres in Roanoke County
One of the oldest homes in Roanoke County, this one will create many family memories. The home was built in two sections, the first of which was started in 1787. This section of the home took 10 years to complete. The logs were hand hewed and the bricks were made by hand in a clay pit about a mile from the home. Originally the home contained a parlor, sitting room and two bedrooms in the upper level. In 1809 Thomas Fowler (a friend of Andrew Lewis) bought the home. His daughter Susan married John Boone (Daniel Boone’s first cousin). In the 1830’s to accommodate their growing family the addition was added to the home. Later in the 1850’s the home was sold to the Boone Family. It is also rumored that 3 confederate soldiers hid in the small room above the kitchen that still exists today. In 1930 the Clark family purchased the home and raised 10 children there. In the 1960’s the home became uninhabitable and was used for farm storage. In 1979 a Roanoke developer purchase the home along with 3 acres of land and began to rehab the home. Except for the newly installed baths in the home, every room including the basement have a functioning fireplace. From the 18-inch-thick walls to the hand hewed timbers supporting the structure, this home stands as a testament of time and has many stories hidden within its walls. Today, the current owners have remodeled the structure again by adding a large master suite, installing state of the art heating and cooling systems, a new modern kitchen, as well as adding 2 additional rooms by opening walls and finishing unfinished areas. A large back porch has now been enclosed into a screened porch overlooking the large well landscaped yard including raised bed gardens, enclosed chicken pens and a meditation garden. In addition, the owners have constructed a large deck with a pool for hours of enjoyment for the whole family. Finally, the owners constructed a stable and fenced available property to house farm animals. This property is unique with one of the oldest Roanoke County historic structures while having all the amenities that allow families to create memories of a lifetime.
