Our in-depth expertise in the field covers all aspects of electrical design including: • • • • • • • • • • • •

Power Distribution Illumination Medium Voltage Switchgear Instrumentation and Controls Motor Control Centers Power Factor Correction Standby Generators SCADA and Automation Telemetry and Communications Relay Coordination and Arc Flash Analysis Surveillance and Access Control MEP for Facility Buildings

The firm maintains a staff of licensed electrical engineers trained and certified in the latest electrical modeling software programs performing power flow modeling, short circuit analysis, underground cable raceway temperature, protective device coordination, and arc-hazard flash analysis. This team has routine experience in electrical utility coordination with regional power companies for public agency and private industry funded projects.

WATER FACILITIES Shrader Engineering provides specialized engineering services to support the development of water systems infrastructure for thriving communities and neighborhoods throughout the State.

consistently on time and within budget

WATER PLANTS AND BOOSTER PUMPING STATIONS Our firm is actively involved in every aspect of electrical system design for water plants including local and remote water well controls, elevated and ground storage tank autosensory controls, chemical mixing systems and instrumentation, multiple plant interconnection systems, metering stations, filter and backwash controls, and raw water pumping stations. We also provide complete mechanical pumping equipment design for water supply systems, ground storage tanks, high service pumps, hydro pneumatic tanks, automatic pressure control valves, and surge valve & flow control assemblies. The firm also provides comprehensive mechanical design for water supply systems, ground storage tanks, high service pumps, hydro pneumatic tanks, automatic pressure control valves, and surge valve & flow control assemblies. Our design capabilities include hydraulic modeling, flow and head-loss calculations, and process flow diagrams. SURFACE WATER TRANSMISSION The firm has provided electrical and instrumentation design services for several regional surface water transmission projects. Our design focus is to identify the immediate and long term objective of the transmission infrastructure so that the appropriate instrumentation and control system capabilities are properly integrated to allow for maximum flexibility now and in the future. GROUNDWATER-SURFACE WATER BLENDING Design services include well and surface water controls to automatically allow both surface water flow and well water flow to be regulated. This controls selectable amounts for optimum usage and the most cost effective controlled delivery of water from each source. DISINFECTION SYSTEM CONVERSION With the growing use of surface water among regional water districts, the need to convert disinfection systems to Chloramine is on the rise. Because surface water suppliers such as the City of Houston and North and West Harris Country Regional Water Authorities are disinfecting with Chloramine, regional water districts purchasing surface water must adapt to the use of Chloramine disinfection as well. Shrader Engineering has developed a straightforward approach to control conversion that includes the ability to monitor, and adjust the Chloramine levels present in the water.

embracing the challenge of meeting growing demand

WASTEWATER FACILITIES Shrader Engineering is an innovative leader in wastewater instrumentation and automation. WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANTS With extensive experience in UV (ultraviolet) disinfection systems, SBR (sequence batch reactor) control systems, sludge processing, high-rate aerobic digesters, odor control, water reuse systems and influent lift station controls and instrumentation, the firm routinely incorporates initiative technology to increase reliability and reduce maintenance in the wastewater plant environment. The firm routinely works on design of new treatment facilities and renovation and modernization of existing facilities. SANITARY SEWER LIFT STATIONS The firm’s experience in sanitary sewer lift station design ranges from simple duplex pump stations controlled by floats to multiple PLC controlled pump systems. In addition to electrical design, we also offer mechanical design for lift pumps and related components. As with wastewater plants, the firm routinely works on design of new lift stations and renovation and modernization of existing stations.

STORMWATER FACILITIES As cities grow and the need for removal of stormwater from sections of highways where gravity drainage is impossible, so does the need for designing of automated stormwater pumping stations. Shrader Engineering has been involved with several of the State’s largest stormwater pump station projects along major sections of Texas highways. Our firm is pre-certified with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) in the Category of Pump Station Electrical and Hydraulics. Our staff members are familiar with the electrical and instrumentation requirements related to TxDOT projects and routinely coordinate these requirements with TxDOT staff to meet the project objectives. The firm’s experience in stormwater pumping station design includes power distribution, medium voltage switchgear, autosensory controls, instrumentation, power factor correction, standby generators, automatic transfer switches, and supervisory control & data acquisition (SCADA).

technology design services driven by tomorrow’s technology

SCADA SYSTEMS DESIGN AND PROGRAMMING In regional municipal water industry, the firm is well-known for applying the latest SCADA design and programming technology to water facility operations. Whether their team is deploying an enterprise level SCADA monitoring application for a large water municipality or modernizing an existing water facility, they utilize the latest in proven industry technologies and equipment integration strategies. The fact that our engineering design team works directly with our SCADA programming department gives the firm the unique ability to design with precise SCADA programming functionality in mind. Our design focus identifies the immediate and long term objective of municipal infrastructure so that the appropriate instrumentation and SCADA system capabilities are properly designed to allow for maximum flexibility now and in the future. The design process includes selection of hardware and software applications, metering and monitoring instrumentation, and network and telemetry devices, all culminating into precisely engineered system architecture. PLC LOGIC PROGRAMMING Our team of highly specialized engineers and programmers routinely write PLC programs using ladder logic, function block diagrams, structured text, and instructional lists, and have adopted the IEC 61131 international standard for PLC programming intended reduce the complexity of programming different PLC models. Our team has vast experience in PLC programming for leading manufacturers including Siemens, Allen Bradley, GE, and Control Microsystems. HMI DEVELOPMENT Our team has a broad range of HMI development experience and is certified in the industry’s leading HMI software applications including InduSoft Web Studio, Wonderware InTouch, Intellution iFix, and Siemens S7. We support the entire HMI development process including Microsoft SQL, ActiveX controls and .NET controls integration. Our graphical user interfaces are uniquely developed for each SCADA project. We actively integrate access to real-time data, automated reporting, PDA enabled functions, secured web access clients, and surveillance device notifications to provide a total HMI solution deployment. TELEMETRY AND COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS Telemetry has become indispensable for water applications, including water management and water quality monitoring.
