Concerns Land is scarce and in order to maintain the way of living; searching one of the solution to not discourage the activites but help them flow. Not taking away the 'Subtstance that marks their identity and existence

U rba n Ins e r t Jamalpur Flyover houses the informal market outside & the existing MarketYard narrows the road, causing traffic ingestion. The idea is to create an organised Bazaar with adequate amount of Shops for Retailers to sell Fruits and Vegetables alongwith a Terminal level Marketyard. The primary axis of the site

Opportunities 1. Located at the edge both the old city and modern city (show bus stand) 2. More than 80% of site's edges faces the road, good potential to invite people in 3.Surrounded by circulation on the three sides, potential to act as an urban island in the busiest spot of the city.

City Bazaar + Terminal Level MarketYard binds Consumers-Retailers-Farmers in a single chain. The site is divided in 2 parts vertically for Farmers and Consumers-Retailers in the Basement and the Ground floor respectively. Marketyard is hidden under the 3-storey Market with separate entrance and exit exclusively for the farmers

"Story of Ahmedabad"

-journey through Architecture

Situated in the heart of the city, part of the actual geometrical and heritage capital. Surrounded by some of the most early buildings; this oldest fortified region has some of the earliest houses and streets which forms a rich background for such a story telling musuem.

The story of the city has been divided in to four parts experiencing what the city experienced in its making, growth and sustainance by following the constant and common factors across the centuries in the history of the city contributing to the same spirit.

Land of Power/Opportunities The magic that city possessed beyond all the natural resources and skills to attract travellers and future citizens for growth & developemnent opportunites. 2. Land of Communal Coherence Symbiotic relation shared by the people beyond caste and religion marks one of the most important reasons for the sustainance of the city

3. Land of Troubled times The struggle and plight the people witnessed through various tragedies & sad events and they emerged out them more stronger, independent and faithful to one another each time. 4. Land of Survivors/ Heroes The Dedication and love showed by the heroes in saving their cities when required always inspires the city to have its pride and never ending hope.

Search for the "inbetween" Creating a balance between different elements, The Courtyards and the physical axis Volume and spatial experience to represen the spirit of intermingled to provide better connections. communities in the city of being "different but united".

Entering into a common platform it divides the group of people first and unites them back at a common entrance representing the communal values of the city of getting united after a lot of divisions.

Focussing on the elements of "inbetween" to create connections, maintain transparency and encourage social interactions. Elements involved to create the threshold:

Jaalis Courtyards Steps ` Searching the thin line of coherence in different elements, contrasting volumes, to experiencing the openess of a courtyard versus the closed blocks. Attempt to create a common plane of balance of togetherness.

Dividing the wall in to 3 parts leaving out the eye level open and the rest filled with jaalis

The service core in the building are 2 large ducts provided at junction of the Ramp and the Parking Area, where majority of the services are concentrated and the remaining run through the sunk slabs and walls.
