Redesigning a traditional toy to prom ote the concept of sharing between c hildren. O ver view of Idea The main objective of this toy is to culture the nature of sharing between children. This is mainly achieved through the modular design of the toy. The materials employed in the design are Eco-friendly and safe to play for children of age 2-4.
Approac h towards Idea Developm ent The design is mainly inspired by the ingenious toys such as walkers and smaller carts. The idealogy behind the modular design to open up the possibilties to the imagination of the child. Each Individual part is a toy in the eye of the child.
How our Toy is Dif ferent From Existing Toys The design of the toy is a modern twist of the traditional toys. Also, most toys available in the market usually serves one purpose as intended by the manufacturer. Chakra opens up the possibility to the imagination of the child. With several modules, several combinations can be explored by sharing or innovating. We are planning to collaborate with traditional toy makers such as Channapatna toy makers who can mass-produce the toy using eco-friendly materials. The primary target consumers are preschools so that multiple kits can be sold and the act of sharing is ensued
Does our Toy Reflec t Indian Culture, Ethos, Diversity or Psyc hology The design and materials of Chakra is heavily inspired by the traditional toy making of Channapatna. The toy is universally accessible. It is not gender-based. The child does require any special skills to play with the toy. When the act of combining multiple kits to form a new toy, a sense of a social group is formed. The theme of the toy design is to warm up the child towards sharing. With modules of different kit can be in different colors so that the child is encouraged to share/exchange with the other children. Also, with a non restrictive design, the imagination of the child is not hindered and the toy can be anything the child wants it to be.
