A GRAND CELEBRATION

Mark your calendar for Sept. 27, 2019, when the recently renamed College of Arts & Media hosts Prelude — an exciting evening of fun and entertainment celebrating the college’s new name and the accomplishments of each of the departments within the college. Among the featured events will be public access to the brand new 71,500-square-foot Art Complex, the showing of the award-winning short film, “The Drone,” and the announcement of the college Legacy Award. Also included are performances, presentations, exhibitions, and displays taking place simultaneously throughout the James and Nancy Gaertner Performing Arts Center, the Art Complex and the University Theatre Center. Prelude admission is complimentary & open to the public.


CAM GUEST ARTIST SERIES Individual Ticket $15 - $30 Guest Artist Series Semester Pass $40 for either Fall OR Spring. Semester Pass includes (1) ticket for the guest artist performance for either Fall OR Spring; along with (1) ticket for two events of your choice.

Live Film Soundtrack Performance of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari Held at Old Town Theatre Thursday, November 7, 2019, 7:00 p.m. *Free Admission

Austin-based musical group The Invincible Czars will be performing a live soundtrack to cinema's original horror movie, "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari". This masterpiece of German Expressionism comes to life in the historic Old Town Theatre with the band's original, tantalizing score. EVENTS Common Reader Film Festival This years Common Reader Film Festival will host author Tara Westover as she presents her book "Educated: A Memoir." The event will be held at the Olson Auditorium November 6, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

DIRECTORS' DEBUT The Directors’ Debut series provides undergraduate students who have shown strong promise as a director the chance to present a fully-realized production as part of the department’s season. To be eligible for this opportunity, students must be at the top of their directing classes, have worked on a production in a leadership role and submit a detailed portfolio of the play they would like to direct. JAZZ F E S T I VA L Bill Watrous was celebrated during his life as one of the “world’s most respected trombonists,” and was known for his “crisp and graceful playing.” The festival honoring Watrous is held each spring at Sam Houston State University. This competitive, educational event showcases high school and intermediate school jazz band performances, where they are critiqued by nationally renowned jazz educators. Join us next year in celebration of Bill Watrous!
