DEPARTMENT OF DANCE

Where creative expertise meets performance, the Department of Dance offers a dynamic and challenging curriculum. Students evolve into the next generation of career-ready dance professionals with access to multiple rehearsal studios, a fully equipped Pilates studio, a dance technology lab, and a performance theater.

DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATION

With a hands-on curriculum, the Department of Mass Communication guides students on how to run the show just as they will in various fields of professional mass media. Courses are centered around building a network of informed, ethical, and technologically proficient communicators who are prepared to make a positive impact on the rapidly changing world of media.

Each semester, film festivals provide students with the opportunity to be recognized for their talent, collaboration, and experience gained. All Department of Mass Communication events are listed on the College of Arts & Media website.

A portfolio review is required for admission into the BFA, MA, and MFA programs. This is additional to admission into the university. There is no portfolio requirement for any tracks under the BA program. More information on all undergraduate and graduate programs is available below.

Content for various media outlets including the campus radio station (90.5 KSHU), newspaper (The Houstonian), and local cable TV (Channel 7) is conceptualized and produced via student collaboration. For more details, reach out to our main office.

SCHOOL OF MUSIC

A devoted community, the School of Music is composed of internationally recognized performers, scholars, and educators. The diverse talents of student and faculty musicians are celebrated through an array of vocal, instrumental, ensemble, and chamber performances.
