STATEMENT OF OBJECTIVE Professional Goals: My professional goals grew from the four places are historical preservation design of residence or event hall, sustainable and high-tech design of museum or gallery, and innovational high rises design of hotel or apartment. To achieve these goals, the first step is to finish my master degree and accumulate adequate knowledge and skills to be able to solve challenge design problems. The second step is to enroll in a resourceful company that can promote my passion and trigger my ability of meet interesting challenges that beyond my existing knowledge. The company could either be a big company that doing some worldly significant projects with innovational technologies or small company that doing small but interesting projects with unique strategies. The third step is to apply PhD in a great architecture program to fill the holes that I realized during my practice and to go experience a different world where all the latest news and discovers located. During the PhD program, I will doing some researches and innovational experimental designs, then apply my research results to practice after graduate. I could also get a business degree for example MBA when returning back to school. The step four is to start my own business to practically and largely express my own design ideas and design solutions. One of my role model is Nader Tehrani, who founded Office DA and NADAAA. He teaches and researches in MIT at the same time works on some real world projects all around the world. Similarly, my last step is to teach in universities and returning my knowledge to the next generation by telling my own experience of doing interesting real project domestic and overseas. Intellectual Goals: As an architecture student, keeping myself in the front of the era is important. The development of society is rapid. As a result, always flows the steps of the trend or even leading the trend is the key to success. This also require me to accept new things, accommodate to it and be the master of it. One of the most important strategies is always keeping myself learning new things. Learning is like rowing upstream, if I don’t move forward, I will be left behind. However, being selective of what to learn is also important. Being able to distinguish what is good and what has the big potential is essential for architects. Another key to success is health. Architects receive a lot of pressure from many aspects. Pressure derives illness of body. To keep life and work in balance is very important for me so that both my physical condition and mental condition can stay in optimized level. It is very common that architects works overtime, stay late and exhaust themselves make changes for owners before the due date. In response to these difficulties, time management and work efficiency should be emphasized as well as the habit of exercise. Last but not the least, “people oriented design” should always embedded in mind. Architects design good architectures that serves people. Considerations of how people perceive our work, behave in our work and experience the effect brought by our work should always embedded in our minds. Architectures should bring interests, health, and happiness to people. To achieve this design goal, we have to be a person who is interesting, healthy and happy.

PROJECT TYPE: URBAN DESIGN STUDIO: ARCH 454 SEMESTER: FALL 2017 LOCATION: LITTLE SAIGON, INTERNATIONAL DISTRICT, SEATTLE, WA
PUBLIC SPACE ANALYSIS:
Existing public spaces are lacking. Also, the quality of the public space is not high. The variety of public spaces should be put into consideration.
This is an group project of urban design to improve the density, safety and popularity of the little saigon area in international district, Seattle. There are two phases, phase one is to develop the overall layout of different zones, and phase two is to develop individual buildings as landmarks. An-Tiem disobeyed the King’s order and was exiled to a deserted island. Days passed and the dry and sunny season came. It was so hot that all the plants were dry and the well had no water left. One day An-Tiem was so tired and thirsty that he tasted the fruit He found out that it tasted delicious and quenched his thirst. He tried to grow the plant around his house then. Soon the whole island was covered with the green fruit called Dua Hau. In the end, the island became very popular and prosperous. In our design, we applied the same concept that bring life back to our site. We designed walking experience that relates to the texture/pattern of water melon, and accomplished the edible idea through the plant design.
PARKING AREAS ANALYSIS:
Existing surface parking is over-taking the spaces. There should be more vertical parkings in new design.
STORMWATER ANALYSIS:
Existing steep slow is beneficial for stormwater management since Seattle is a rainy city. Rain water could be reuse in new design.
KOI CULTURE CENTER KOI CULTURE CENTER IS A LANDMARK LOCATED CLOSE TO THE MAIN ENTRANCE OF LITTLE SAIGON. THE PURPOSE OF THIS DEISGN IS TO ATTRACT VISITORS AND PROVIDE VIETNAMISE CULTRAL INTRODUCTION TO VISITORS. THIS IS A SUSTAINABLE DESIGN RESPONSED TO THE INTERSTATE BRIDGE WITH ACOUSTIC WALL DESIGN AND RESPONSED TO THE WEATHER IN SEATTLE WITH SPECIAL GREEN ROOF AND RAIN WATER COLLECTION.
PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION ANALYSIS:
Existing Transportation is adquet, efficient and safe.
TOPOGRAPHY ANALYSIS:
Northern of the site is steep slope. Sliding Events happens frequently. Potentially could build underground parking.
OPEN FIELD ANALYSIS:
Existing site has some amount of Brownfield that should be deal with carefully. Homeless people wondering around these places.

SINGLE FAMILY HOUSING DESIGN
PROJECT TYPE: RESIDENTIAL DESIGN STUDIO: ARCH 354 SEMESTER: SPRING 2017 LOCATION: BERVELY HILL, LOS ANGELES, CA
WATER FEATURE:
WATER FROM THE POOL ON THE TOP FLOOR CAN BE FILTER BY THE CENTER PIPE AND REUSE TO WATER PLANTS. POOL IS ALSO FUNCTION AS WATER TANK.
This studio is a series residential design for students to develope our dream home for future. The challenge is the steep hill where the site located. In addition, students were required to consider sustainablity as a important aspects for the site. In my design, not only the steep hill of the site, but also the allowable width of my building is very challenge. Due to the required offset according to California Residential Code, we have to offset 5 feet from every edge of the redlines. The total width of my site is 30’. After offset, my allowable width for house is 20’. Moreover, there should be two parkings for my house. As a result, how to deisgn with minimum width and dynamic typography change becomes the major issue during the design process. To solve the issues, I came up with wave ideas that flows up along the hill at the same time trying to line up with the circulation in one side to prevent the interior space from cutting into parts. W.A.V.E is also represent water, air, volumn, and energy, which fully considered the nature and passive strategies. Most importantly, to make sure the spaces interesting is my goal for my future family.
NATURE VENTILATION:
BREATH PORES ARE OPERABLE ON THE LEFTSIDE CONCRETE WAVE, ALSO THE GREEN GARDEN WITH OPERABLE LOUVER IMPROVES THE INDOOR AIR QUALITY.
NOISE REDUCTION:
ACOUSTIC PANELS ARE INSTALLED TO REDUCE THE NOISE FROM THE STREET. ESPECIALLY EVERY TUESDAY, THE GARBAGE TRUCK IS VERY LOUD.

This project is to design a fire station that use CMU as the major material and provide quick access for firefighter’s actions. Also, giving a comfortable space for them to enjoy the time off duty is important.

1. TWO WAY DIAGONAL FIRE TRUCK LANE PROVIDES QUICK ACCESS AND EXIT BETWEEN TWO ONE-WAY AVENUES. 2. DIRECT ACCESS FROM THE LIVING ZONE TO GARAGE TO ALLOW MINIMAL TIME TO GET INTO FIRE TRUCKS. 3. CONVIENIENCE RUBBER RUNWAY IS DESIGNED AROUND PLANTERS FOR DAILY EXERCISE. 4. NEARBY PARKING LOTS

DESIGN CONCEPT
“Fiat lux” is a latin phrase from bible and translated as “let there be light”. In my project, cuting out openings to makes full use of sunlight to save energy and creating enjoyable light and shade is the main focus. The openings in roof and wall also reduces the weight of the dead load. also ,the cables are not only function as bracing and shading, but also create interesting light-shadow effect. It is also a sustainable project, which uses vegetation to filter odor from the gas station and use roof grass panels and courtyard rain water collection to reduce the UHI (urban heat island).

THE STRUCTURE IS CONTINIOUS GLULAM WITH CABLES TO REINFORCE. THIS DESIGN RESPONSED TO THE SITE SHAPE AND PROVIDED OUTDOOR SEATINGS FOR PEOPLE TO ENJOY THE RIVER VIEW.
PROJECT TYPE: Temporary Exhibition Space Design STUDIO: ARCH 254 SEMESTER: SPRING 2016 LOCATION: Moscow, Iaho
This is a design for “moscow summer pavillion”. In this design, wood should be the primary material. Because the occupany of the pavillion is during the summer, which means it is a temporary structure, we are not suppose to use mechanical cooling. Summer in moscow is arid. Without using air-conditionoing, I decide to build water cycle and roof garden within the shape of mobius strip to cool down the architecture. Also, the refrigerator principle is used to cool down it, which including the capillary action and evaporation. “Mobius 8” become a sustainable pavillion with the help of nature and physics.

6.1TINY HOUSE, TINY COMMUNITY DEISGN
This is a 3-days design charrette compitition with the topic of Tiny House, Tiny community. This charrette was complished with my teammates Drew Gillbert and Yifan He. We won the first place of this competition. The original purpose of this competition is to build this community for students in southhill. It requires there should be two types of living spaces--Typical unit and ADA unit. Also, the budget of this design per unit is less than 50,000. Recycled/Resused Local Lumber

Our design used the color as an cheap but effective distinguishment for different houses. We also fully considered the prefabricate possibility and material using to control the cost. Moreover, the phases design is our strategies to make buildable.
Concrete Foundation
Master Plan and Phase Development Multi-Phase Plan allows the development of tiny homes to grow once demand and acceptance grows. The main vehicular lane established in Phase 1 connects to the Creekside Apartments, roughly 15 feet North from the property line.

6.2 PULLMAN DOWNTOWN RENOVATOIN
This is the renovation of pullman downtown area. The diagrams on the left is the existing site condition, including positive and negative. Below is the new landmark design. In order to make the increasement of pullman diversity, we designed more varieable public spaces. On the bottom is the comparison of the existing skyline and new proposaled skyline.

MATERIAL AND METHOD CMU DESIGN & 99+1 WOOD PAVILLION
SELF-BUILD MOLD AND SELF-POURED CONCRETE. CMU PLANTER THAT ALLOWS EXTRA WATER DRAIN.
THIS PAVILION WAS CONSTRUCTED BY NINETY-NINE OF 2X4 AND ONE BIKE TIRE. OUR DESIGN IS ROBUST THAT CAN RESIST THE LOAD OF TWO ADULTS SEATING ON.
