M idos uji, O s aka, Ja p a n Midosuji is a main street of Osaka, which is constructed in Taisho-era. It was the symbol of modernization. In 1980s, the street became ve r y b u sy b e c a u s e of t h e m o r t a l i z a t i o n . Nowadays, we have to consider about sustainable city for the future. The main streets have very important role to make cities more fascinating and lively. I think and try to design h ow t o m a ke M i d o s u j i i n h e r i t i n g s t ro n g identities and landscapes from past to the future and keeping more pedestrian-friendly.

0 1. CON TE X T Loc ation
History - n a r ra tion
Midosuji is a street that runs through Osaka City from north to south. The name comes from the fact that there are two temples, Kitami-do and Minami-ido. The total length is 4,027m and this is the main axis of the main road in Osaka. The roadside architectures are m a i n l y o ffi c e b u i l d i n g b u t a l s o s h o p s , restaurants, cafes, hotels and so on. The south area around MIdousuji is called Senba which is business center of Osaka.
Before the construction of Midosuji, the east and west streets called ˘Tori˙ were the main route compared to the north-south street called ˘Suji˙ . Midosuji was reconstructed from 1930 to 1937 and the width became 3m to 44m. In 1945, Midosuji was destroyed by World War II. During the period of high economic growth, it changed from two-way traffic to one-way traffic to the south.
History - utilization
Basement
Midosuji has four car tracks for high speed and two them for low speed. And there are many historical changes in utilization. From 1974, there were movements to get back the street for people. In the end, they can play and rest on low-speed lines.
From the analysis of the sort of basements, there are three sections. The first one is the north part which is a business center. The second is the middle part which is brand shopping street. The third one is the south part which is amusement are. commerce bank or financial office insurance company brand shop hotel office temple

03 . Concept
・lack of places for the people on the Midosuji ・lack of public spaces around the Midosuji ・lack of green spaces around the Midosuji ・lack of the strong identical landscape ・decrepit of the street furnitures ・decrepit and discord of pavements ・activities are monotonous and poor ・no relation ship with roadside buildings
It is possible to reduce the space for the car step by step. In this proposal, we can reallocation the low-speed line for the people. And I designed the street landscape for three parts of section characters.
0 4. P la n Yod oya b a sh i This section is a business center. The design aims to make places for businessmen and make the street more magnificent.
Shinsaibashi This section is a brand shopping street. The design aims to make places for resting and make the street elegant and fassinable.
Na m b a This section is an amusement street. The design aims to make places for many people and make more lively and enjoyable.

Botanical Garden, Kyoto, Japan Kyoto botanical garden is located northern part of Kyoto city. This area is face to Kitayama mountain. The subject of this project is to redesign the welcoming gate of the botanical garden. My proposal aims to make a new symbol and make it more welcoming. The concept is to make the big roof blending into the landscape, and motif Japanese traditional style and shape of the mountain. And also, the undulation of the roof makes small spaces for each personˏ s activities.

Sa nnom iya, Hyog o, Ja p a n Amore Square, located around the north side of Hankyu-Kobe-Sannomiya-Station and JR S a n n o m i ya St a t i o n , h a s b e e n a p o p u l a r meeting place for many people. The northwestern Sannomiya area, including t h i s A m o re S q u a re , i s t h e a re a w h e re redevelopment is most advanced in the ˘Ekimichi Space˙ due to the rebuilding of the Kobe Hankyu East Building, which is scheduled to open in the spring of 2021. In order to create a better public space, proposals for a new design of Amore Square are widely invited.
0 1. S ITE The target site is located in the center of Kobe and serves as a key point for public transportation. In the wide area, there is Mt. Rokko on the north side and Kobe Port on the south side. The flow lines connecting the station and various places are very complicated. It is required to organize these flow lines well and create resting spaces as a meeting space in front of the station and a landscape that becomes a new symbol of Kobe.

02. I DE A I and my laboratory members made three ideas for making new fascinate public spaces. And we made three groups and I supervised each group.
I. Lan d mar k We wanted to make a new strong identical landmark. In this place, there were three mounts and people were familiar with them using for resting or meeting points. So we proposed new digital instruments that evoke former landmarks, and new furnitures harmonious with them.
II. Shelter We focused on how to create more comfortable resting spaces. We proposed some shelter which evokes former landscape mounts. And These are used in many ways and make a lot of activities.
I I I. Circ u lati on a n d Ac t i v itie s We analyzed city axes and flow lines. We proposed new circulations and new activities. We divided the site into four areas. Then we put some landscape facilities in each area. These are flexible designs and able to use many ways.

URBAN D E S I G N STUDIO WORK 2019
Hi g as hik ujo, Kyoto, Ja p a n Higashikujyo was a discriminated village where many Korean people had lived. But now a day, there are a strong relationship between inhabitants and many local events held by them. But social houses and some old Nagaya was abandan or neglected. The sites are some parcel owned by the national government. I proposed social housing and some facilities and public spaces and I show the future urban landscape of whole area. This area has many historical and local contexts. I restructured the relationship between the river and the activity.

01. CON TE X T Site Analysis Higashikujo is located in the southern area of Kyoto city. It is near Kyoto station. It has many potentials. We can access many transportations and shops and restaurants. In the site, many old houses and vacant. We can imagine how to change the urban form because of reconstruction.

It made a great contribution to the development of the city and economic growth at that time. There were Willow trees along Takase river and then cherry trees were planted. Along the Takase river, we can see many types of relationship between river and activities.

MAST E R THE S I S Japanese Landscape Design with Grand Topography in Higashiyama, Kyoto
in progress
Higashiyama Zenzu, Karaku-Meisyo-Zue
S ITE My research site is Higashiyama in Kyoto city. Kyoto is located in the basin and surrounded by mountains. This topography has been there for a long time. And these mountains were believed as where Gods live. ïš²
ïš³
CO NT EXT This area has a lot of temples, gardens, and scenic sites. Each place was designed by a technical landscape design technique that aims to make use of the grand landscape of Higashiyama. Each garden has a scenery relationship.
ïš´
ïšµ
Hyp oth e s i s Today, some scenic places became noble restaurants and the others were destroyed. Higashiyama has very beautiful topography and Each scenic place was designed taking consideration into them. One garden becomes a part of the landscapes of another garden.
