Sagaran The name of Sagaran comes from its location. It is considered one of the Paiwan settlements. It is obvious for visitors to find the tracks of the tribe's culture everywhere in this area. In recent years, Sagaran has endeavored to develop its traditional head ornament culture (rakaraw) and its garden landscapes. It is certainly a must-not-miss spot for visitors. ‧Address: Koushe Village, Sandimen Township, Pingtung County ‧Contact unit: Koushe Community Development Association, Director Bao 0926-784519
Rinari Typhoon Morakot caused huge damage to Sandimen Towhsip, Wutai Township, and Majia Township in 2009. After the catastrophic damage in Taiwan, the government provided assistance and built Rinari at Majia Farm to settle people from the nearby villages, including Dashe Village in Sandimen Township, Haocha Village in Wutai Township, and Majia Village in Majia Township. The name of Rinari stands for “a place for us to be.”

Djineljepan Djineljepan has placed its emphases on developing traditional children's folklore bamboo wares and organic agriculture to build up the tribe's characteristics in recent years. Other than constructions on the unoccupied spaces inside the tribe, there is also a children's folklore area with camp activities held from time to time. The improvement and beautification on the tribe's environment, reuse of the unoccupied spaces, and establishment of the trail area on Meiren Mountain all enhance the tribe's living quality. Meiren Mountain, a hunting place for ancestors with rich ecology, has a hunting area arranged to pass down the hunting tradition.
Dewen is called Tikuvulu in the tribal language, meaning “a barren land.” Located at the upstream of Beiyiliao River, the tribe boasts a magnificent view of Dawu and Jiamu villages in the nearby Wutai Township, in addition to Wutou and Damumu Mountains in the east. During the Japanese Rule, Dewen was even the mountain capital of the area’s tribes. The Japanese even built the Dewen Higher Education Institute and a regional agricultural research center in appreciation that the Dewen chieftain saved some Japanese people’s lives. The road to Dewen is crooked but full of beautiful scenery. You shall find a warrior statue receiving guests at the tribe’s entrance, with his head high up. The many totem walls in the tribe tell stories of Dewen. This is a beautiful indigenous town hidden among mists and clouds…
Kungadavane Kungadavane, a subset of the Rukai tribe, is considered one of the oldest aboriginal tribes in Taiwan. The settlement of Kungadavane, located on the western side of Benlu Mountain, Central Mountain Range between 300 meters to 600 meters above the sea level, is the deepest point in Maolin area. Surrounded by mountains, the location of this tribe is equipped with stunning scenery. Moreover, the plentiful rainfall from the rainy season and typhoons also create gorgeous valley scenery.

Wutai This tribe is full of artistic ambience for its bountiful artifacts, including stone carving and knitting. With an image of its artistic community, Wutai is considered one of the aboriginal tribes preserving most of its cultural relics. Rukai Cultural Museum displays the tribe’s traditional relics to present its culture. The design of Presbyterian Church is based on the ideas of collaboration and family relationship. Yanban Lane, constructed from slate and lined with sculptures, pottery, and other arts telling ancient tales, is the best way to learn Rukai culture. ‧Address: Wutai Village, Wutai Township, Pingtung County ‧Contact unit: Shenshan Community Development Association 08-7902620
Talamakau is a subset of Rukai Tribe with buildings painted by its people with bright colors and traditional patterns, creating a unique artistic ambience. Moreover, mythological legends are also painted on the house walls, making this tribe noted as an outdoor art gallery.

Oponoho Oponoho, a subset of Rukai, has been an independent tribe located at an easily guarded area. Its tales, customs, languages, rituals, and taboos are all different from others. The only large-scale petroglyph heritage site in Taiwan, the Wanshan site boasts great value in terms of ethnic cultural development and has great stories to tell.
Payuwan (Holiday package) Old Fawan Tribe (Spiwan), the home of Paiwan and Rukai tribes, used to be the former site of Paiywan. It is located in the mountain area, 800 meters above the sea level. From this tribe, visitors are able to overlook the Dawu Mountain, the sacred range for Paiwan Tribe. If visitors walk down the tribe, they can reach Taigulafa Waterfall. Payuwan's welcome ceremony still follows its traditions, including the fire ritual and the visit of the couples trees. The most noted feature of Old Fawan Tribe is its stone slab houses. There is also an area where Payuwan people used to contact others through loud shouts in the old times.

There is a Tjavatjavang Suspension Bridge between these two tribes as the main passage. The quantities and quality of the stone slab houses are very well-conserved in the old Tjavatjavang tribe, presenting its well-known tradition. In the new Tjavatjavang tribe, the Dawadawang Christian Church, built by Tjavatjavang people, symbolizes the spirit of Paiwan Tribe. The name, Dawadawang, refers to “collaboration, cooperation, purpose-drive life.” ‧Address: Dalai Village, Sandimen Township, Pingtung County ‧Contact unit: Timur Culture and Art Association 08-7997419 Ringleader's Home
Kucapungane Valjuju The emerald green tunnel leading to Valjuju is a well-known tourist attraction. These green maple leaves along the road wave in the wind to welcome all the guests. When it comes to autumn, these leaves turn bright red, creating a picturesque view. Valjuju is a subset of Paiwan Tribe. Valjuju refers to the enriched ecology which supports the tribe. ‧Address: Ma’er Village, Sandimen Township, Pingtung County ‧Contact unit: Ma’er Community Development Association 08-7856880
Kucapungane means “descendants of clouded leopards.” After moving to this new site, we decided that Haocha would be “a tribe where one must take off his or her shoes,” because taking off shoes to us symbolizes our respect to families and affection to land. In a way it also reflects an unspoken consensus among members of this new big family of Rinari. We just want to share aspects of our everyday lives to our visitors. We have relocated twice due to policies and typhoons in the recent years. We worked hard to keep our traditions despite the circumstances. Now that we have regained our strengths, we hope to invite each and every one of you to be our family members. Please take off your shoes as you enter our tribe, and enjoy good food and fun activities with your host family at our new place, Rinari. ‧Address: Rinari Tribe, Majia Township, Pingtung County ‧Contact unit: Taiwan Rukai Industry Development Association, Director Li 0925-043288
