After class Master Godwin took pictures and he remembered an incident, years ago that would change his life‌.

I had to fight more than one person that day. I was lucky.

I left the area quickly after landing a few blows. I was determined to keep them off of me.
I knew for sure I needed training….had to be better….not afraid…CONFIDENT!

Monday to Friday 7 to 9. My evenings began with warm up exercises increasing flexibility and self- defense near the end of class….my favorite!
My search ended at Yi’s Karate. The next step would challenge what I thought I knew. I was eager to learn much more.

Years later I was asked to work at Shin Karate in South Philadelphia, Headquarters of the World Tang Soo Do Association. Grandmaster Shin spoke to Master Yi about my position. Master Yi thought I would not be interested but I told him I was very interested!

‌.for which I am very grateful Master Yi gave me permission to meet with Grandmaster Shin. Grandmaster Shin gave me the position and experience.
At the World Tang Soo Do Championships 1986 and 1989 Master Godwin became World Champion in fighting, forms, weapons and demo team.

After tournaments or testing, invitations to dinner by Master Yi along with Grandmaster Shin to a Korean or Chinese restaurant, was very enjoyable. There were different kinds of food and the masters made us sing‌.yes, made us sing‌..the good old days.

In 2006 Master Godwin achieved 6th Degree International Master Black Belt in Tang Soo Do
Master Godwin waves goodbye to the photographer, Christopher along with his wife Victoria. Master Godwin’s achievements help many children and adults achieve their personal goals in selfdefense and also many students train for the love of the art.
