DESIGN STATEMENT “Urban Luxury” as the course title itself suggests about the high-end production for the high-end market. The aim of this project is to combine, remaster, reinvent, customize luxury fabrics with a sense of urban wear to create a collection that is fresh and innovative. My initial response towards the theme of the project was a bit confusing as well as surprising about the “mix,stir and unite” theme. I wasn’t quite sure about what is it exactly that I will be considering on the same. To get inspired for the project I went to Tate Modern and Burberry’s makers house to explore new, fresh and innovative ideas for my concept for the project The concept for the collection was quite evident to me when I had an initial look at the images that I took at the galleries and the references I found , which is about playing with geometric shapes comprising mainly of lines and how these lines when mixed, stir and united turns out to be some very interesting geometric shapes on the body. As we have to connect this to the previous project I found that there was quite a bit of similarity in some of the images that I had and I chose the circular silhouette from my previous project and challenged myself to play with straight lines over the circular body. My collection will have the customised pieces which are interchangeable and reversible as well. I want my garments to be created beautifully and making sure that I combine, reinvent and customise luxury fabrics with a sense of urban wear
