Committed to the Craft Spring / Summer 2011 America’s veins are pumping with the spirit of renewed self-reliance. It’s a time when, once again, people are getting their hands dirty and discovering the genuine joys of manual labor. Immersed in this resurgence of DIY idealism, we are proud to be working alongside many artisans in pursuit of quality craftsmanship and prideful creation. This growing appreciation for thoughtfully-made products fuels the Shwood team in our day-to-day labors. More than just a means to an end, the sweat on our brows and splinters in our fingers serve as a reminder that we are engaged in a true labor of love. The result is genuine handcrafted eyewear that speaks for itself. It is with much blood, sweat, and sawdust that we proudly present Shwood’s Spring / Summer 2011 line of eyewear.

Experiment with Nature A simple experiment with nature. Born from the limb of a Madrone tree, a rusty pair of cabinet hinges, and lenses from the corner store, Shwood has been a curious endeavor from the beginning. An endeavor to create a product that encompasses the individuality and uniqueness that can only be found in natural surroundings. A desire to experiment with design, materials, and aesthetics in the search for something uniquely perfect. Free from passing trends, the brand’s focus remains that of its roots, innovation and creation. Long live creativity.

Please understand that no two pieces of wood are identical. That being said, no two pairs of Shwood sunglasses will be exactly alike. Product photos in this catalog should be used solely as a guide to what a product should look like, not as an exact representation. Miniscule differences should be expected in each product’s construction as minor deviations are inherent to Shwood’s handcrafted manufacturing process. But don’t worry, Shwood’s one-by-one product construction guarantees individual attention to detail and quality assurance in every pair of Shwood eyewear to leave the woodshop.

Spring Hinges Shwood’s innovative new spring-loaded hinge has been implemented for all 2011 eyewear styles. Reducing wood manipulation one step further, Shwood’s spring hinge eliminates screws and rivets from the outer temple and frame. This absence of outer hardware results in a significant increase of strength and range of fit, along with the benefits of long-lasting comfort and durability.
