Reflective pavilion was conceptualized with horizontal and vertical elements around the area. The idea is fundamentally contained in this pavilion. Intention is to be everybody’s pavilion where they can enjoy the city view and waiting for the public transport.
The main architectural strategy in this pavilion is to reflect the context. Here, landscape features and buildings played a major role in its creative process during the design stages. Reflective pavilion has a repetitive wood exterior in horizontal and vertical lines and tweaked ceilings. These will enable it to fit right in front of AMP Building.
The fusion of architecture components and landscape elements are the distinctive architectural expression of this pavilion. Positioned in a site context of CBD, reflectivity is key to the pavilion’s presence. Nestled amongst high buildings, it is surrounded by palm trees and variety of public transportation.
At the main entrance, the reflection of bus stop and ferry wharf are imprinted onto the mirror. From the entrance as one ascends to the second floor via the stairs, the repetitive textured walls on one side whilst an rhythmic wood ceiling on top dramatizes the seating area.
As an outreach gesture extended by this pavilion, an open sky terrace becomes perimeter on level 2. Here, the mirror on the ceiling reflects to the entry of the AMP Building. This area is also used to observe what happens below.
