// FIELD NOTES Being able to visit a city on a regular basis with the eyes of a stranger and observing how my own perception changed over time was a fascinating experience. I started to photograph San Francisco with the eyes of a tourist. After a while something changed. I looked at diferent subjects, concentrated on other aspects. I was not looking for the obvious, but for the hidden. I found pleasure in searching for a beauty in banal things. This shift in my perception, from a wider to a closer look and back, introduced a diferent way of seeing. “Between The Light“ is a photo series that focuses on the change between night and day. My interest in the diferent atmosphere of a daytime image and a nighttime image is what kept me shooting during twilight. Night hides detail and day reveals it again. We see things diferently when we wander streets at night, similar to seeing things diferently with the eyes of a stranger. Sebastian Schlüter

// INTRODUCTION Loaded with a 6x6 (square) camera and ilm Sebastian captures those very precise moments in a few seconds. A photo that contains hours of interest in one single frame. Every frame holds something surreal, the lack of distinguishable humans will show you places like you’ve never seen them before. They reveal everything about the place, culture, architecture and the humanity inside the picture. It gives an abstract insight of how people live their lives. This project and book is a good summarization of what he is capable of. It shows the drive, the inspiration and the hard work that went into it. It’s an overview of so many diferent places and cultures divided by single frames. It shows calm and yet sometimes busy city portraits. It is odd and interesting to perceive places you have never seen in such a diferent way. There is some mystique in the pictures which is very pleasing and fascinating. Jesse Struyvelt
