社團法人台灣身心障礙藝術發展協會

身心障礙者的障礙不全然是自身的缺陷,社會環境的狀態更是造成 阻礙的重要因素,台灣 2300 多萬人,顯性擁有身心障礙手冊的人數是 111 萬人 ( 內政部 2012 年第二季的統計 ), 這意味著我們身邊每五個 家庭就存在一個有特殊需求的人,有這麼多的家庭需要照顧一個甚至數 個身心疾病的家庭成員,是和我們共同生活在這塊土地的族群,不在生 活界線外,就在我們周圍,正期待著整個社會都是支持的體系,積極的 想讓這些折翼天使能順利的融入社會,那我們必須創造一個夠友善的環 境,社會必須真誠的接納,自然才會積極的為其設想,不是因為律法的 緣故,而是因為人類相互友愛的心,例如無障礙空間、受教育或生活的 環境、陌生人的眼光、隨時的幫助或者更嚴峻的課題:照護的家庭失去 照顧的能力時,社會可以提供什麼樣的支援、政府能有甚麼樣的庇護、 等等 ...。 當我們有機會接近這些生命樣貌與多數人不相同的族群卻可以帶我 們進入那奧秘而真誠的境地,我們接觸的家庭一再的告訴我們,在他們 的身上學習到很多珍貴而簡單的道理,例如:愛與單純、體貼與良善、 堅持與毅力。反觀我們的生活和工作方向,總是有大大小小的目的性, 有時卻忘了這個目的的真正本質,我們常常與最親近的人有很多爭執, 其實無非是對對方的期待和其自身感受之間的衝突,唯有『愛』才能化 解這些糾結,當我們由這個族群看見生命的潛力和勇氣,我們會更擁有 去『愛』的力量,因為萬事互相效益,彼此砥礪。 盼望我們能明白每一個生命都有其獨特的意義,也讓人道精神成為 普世的價值。

About "Arts Development Association of Taiwan with Disabilities" The dysfunction of the Disabled is not definitely referring to the whole body, social environment is even the critical factor to difficulties. Among more than 2,300 population of Taiwan, the population of Disability Certificate holder comes up with 1.11 million (based on the statistics of Season 2, 2012 from the Ministry of Interior Affairs), which means one of five

families is with unique needs around us. Crowds of families need to care for one or even more than one family member(s) and they are the races or groups living with us together on this land, not outside of the boundary, just ones with us, expecting a supportive system around the whole society, and they want these angels with broken wings be adapted to the whole society and we have to create a environment which is friendly enough and the society needs to accept that sincerely and consider for them proactively and naturally, not because of the law, but because of the heart human beings love mutually, such as accessible space, educated and living environment, stranger’s view, help anytime or even more strict issues: when a caring family loses abilities to care for others, what kind of supports our society can provide and what kind of protection our government is able to have and etc. When we get chance and approach these groups whose life looks are different from a majority of people, but can take us into the world w hich is with miracle and sincerity, those families we approached told us a pile of precious but simple concept that we can learn from them again and again, such as love and simple, considerable and benevolence, persistence and perseverance. On contrary, our life and work style always have large or small purposes inside, sometimes, we forget the genuine nature of the purpose; we often argue with the closet parties and these arguments are all conflicts existing between our expectation on others and our own feelings; only “love” is able to resolve these tangled. When we see the potentiality and brevity of life from these groups, we would possess of more power to “love”, because everything benefits and encourages with each other. Expect that we can understand every unique meaning behind the life, and make humanism become the universal value.

一個人,一顆星。

當一群人願意伸出手,在浩瀚的星海中牽起一個星座,讓人海中獨 特的族群,抬頭仰望看到有一個星座,對著他們閃亮,並能指引出一個 航行方向,不再迷航,尋著亮光勇往直前…。 光之藝廊最大的夢想,無非是讓每個人的生命都能發光,因為在光 裡沒有黑暗,人生高峰低谷,人人在不同的階段都會需要一道的亮光, 導引我們脫離黑暗的低潮,所以每個人都有機會成為相對應的角色。也 許在人的眼目裡,出生的命定或不可逆的遭遇,讓身心有特殊需求的族 群和家庭,是一顆顆暗淡的星子,好像他們永遠是需要被照亮的人,殊 不知他們一站上舞台,是一顆顆閃亮動人的星星。閃亮不在於耀眼,動

另一位得獎人袁鵬偉是我見過最愛笑的漸凍人,可愛樂觀的妻子說:「丈 男子。」他作品中所表露的情感真摯感人,對妻子的愛與恩情的表述令

夫在生病前是忙於工作的機器人,而生病後是卻是一個溫柔多情的中年 人動容。佳作獎的洪鈺富,在父親的默默流淚和敘述中,知道他在念國 中時,突然顱動脈破裂,挽回生命後造成多重障礙,全身不定時的抽搐, 頭痛時不住的吶喊,讓人非常心疼,常常想說一句話,但是只說了兩個 字,就忘了接下來要說什麼,但透過繪畫卻可以完整表達他內心的感受。

B 組的得獎人是一個個讓驚奇萬分的天使,創作獎之一的余信儒,自信 開朗興趣廣泛,我和他巧合的在同一天看了同一部電影「逆光飛翔」, 他眼中的光采使人明亮,另一位郭湘瀅是我這幾年所接觸的孩子中情感 最豐沛和直觀感受力很強的女孩,如同她的畫作有某種透視的能力,湘

瀅具備藝術家的獨特氣質,最年輕的慧瑜是非常可愛的女孩,純真纖細的感情在 作品中的表露無遺,年僅 13 歲卻在非常激烈的評審過程中脫穎而出。 由衷的感謝評審團,特別是評審團主席林平老師,她在藝術界教育英才外投 入在國內外各樣策展、評審和講演,連續三年在百忙中,用心的主持光之藝廊的 徵件比賽評審工作,光之藝廊的評選作業,常常讓評審們進入一種無以名狀的撞 擊狀態,有時靜默感動有時熱烈的討論,很多人都對我說這是一場很困難的評審, 協會也是做一件相當不容易但深具意義的工作。 協會四年來,辦理三屆的徵件比賽,頒獎典禮看似是比賽活動的結束,卻是 我們與藝術家和家人互動真正的開始,也因為如此,讓我們一次次的感受到這個 世界的真善與獨特的美。社會的參與帶來很大的鼓勵,有人從來不曾收藏真跡畫 作,本著善意扶持收藏作品,而逐漸有了自己藝術賞析的獨特角度,更使人興奮 的是當代藝術的收藏家,他們賞識這些特殊藝術創作,踴躍的支持與推廣,大大 的鼓舞了我們和所有的創作者,更帶給家庭和社會價值重整的一線曙光,赫赫有 名的原生藝術家杜布菲,如哲學家史作檉所言:「他的藝術哲學是找到人與自然 之真實存在的位置,原生藝術就是一種超越自身所處之文明的自由表達,也就是 將淺度文明還原到深度文明的基礎上,其目的在於一種具原創性、全自由心靈之 徹底喚醒。」 每個人無論以何種樣貌來到這個世界都是真實的存在,台灣有 110 萬多位身 心障礙者,其中的許多障礙是社會造成的,主流的社會階層不應也無法忽視他們。 感謝所有的支持者,您們為社會做出珍貴且深具價值的貢獻。 讓我們再回到更遼闊的視野,『一個人,一顆星』,星海羅盤需要你伸出手 來,為社會牽起一個星座,相互輝映,給所有迷途的人,一個方向和無限希望。

When a group of people are willing to hold out his hands and hand in hand for a constellation in a vast starry world that extraordinary groups among people can look up and see the constellation shining toward them and guide a direction for the travelling without lost, further going ahead with the light….

光之藝廊第三屆創作獎

The most magnificent dream of Luminance Art of Space is to make everyone’s life shine as there is no darkness under the light; human being’s life has peak and low tide; everyone has chance to become the opposite role. Perhaps from mankind’s vision, the destiny at birth or irreversible encounters make those groups and families with unique demands of body and mind become the dim stars as if they need to be lighted permanently; little do they know that upon standing on the stage, they are pieces of shiny stars. Shining has no focus on the brilliance, while charming has no focus on the shape; it is a course of efforts made to get rid of binds from diseases of body and mind and the light brought by such brevity, persistence and talents cannot be ignored, as well as a natural exhibition which has never been constricted by social structural restrain and standard are so charming, so, we planned out this exhibition and awarding ceremony with a ceaseless excited and treasury moods.

When the exhibition planner developed proposal and carry it on the boat, I felt and connected directly the dynamic trip of life. Art is not only a result of pattern in Luminance Art of Space, but also an exposure of life nature; we attempted to experience their dynamic life with these recording films and their creations. Chang, Bai-Shun, winner to the Best Creation Award under Group A, a resident of Wandan Township, Pingtung County, under a situation of almost blind, explored and measured with his hands, took the rasp sawing off the bamboo chopsticks piece by piece, and at last, constructed a palace. Another winner, Yuan, Peng-Wei, is a gradually freeze people who loves to laugh that I never saw anyone else like him. His cute and optimistic wife said that her husband was like a robot busying at work, but became a middle-aged man who was tender and passionate after being ill. The passion exposed in his works was so real and touchable, the depiction of love and gratefulness he has for his wife touches everyone. Hung, Yu-Fu, a winner to the Award of Eminence, was known from his father’s description in silent tears that he suffered cranial artery rupture in a sudden when he was studying at junior high school and after his life was recovered, multiple disability was caused; the whole body has irregular twitch which makes everyone in pains; he frequently

forgets to say what he wanted to after only two words spoke out; however, with painting, he can express how he feels entirely. The winner of Group B is an angel astonished everyone. Yu, Hsing-Ru, one of winners to the Best Creation Award, has a confident, outward personality with a wide range of hobbies. He and I, coincidently, watched the same film “Touch of the Light” and the brilliance in his eyes lightened others. Another winner, Kuo, Hsiang-Yin, a girl who has the richest passion and the strongest intuitive perception I have ever seen in these years, has her paintings given a certain kind of ability of perspective view; she is equipped with temperament of artist which is unique to others. The youngest Huei-Yu, a very cute girl, has pure and delicate passion reflected on her works entirely; only in age of 13, she came to the fore of the most intense course of review. I want to express a sincere thanks to the review team, especially the Chairman, Teacher Lin Ping; she invested herself in a variety of exhibitions, reviews and speeches domestically and overseas in addition to her teaching job in Art circles; she carefully hosted the review job for the Selection Contest by Luminance Art of Space in three consecutive years. The review and comment job for Luminance Art of Space often struck these reviews into a state of impact cannot described by words, sometimes in silence and moved, sometimes discussing passionately; many of them told me that it was a very tough review; the Association also did a quite difficult yet meaningful job. In these four years, the Association hosted three Selection Contests; the Awarding Ceremony appears to be an end of the contests, yet a starting point of our real interaction with artists and families. Exactly because of so, we can perceive a beauty of genuine benevolence and uniqueness of this world one by one. Social participation encourages us a lot, some of them never collected any real paintings, they support these collections with kindness and had a perspective of art appreciation which is unique to others; the most excited part was appreciation, enthusiastic support and promotion of those collectors of contemporary art on such unique art creations; their actions inspired us and all creators, even brought a shadow of light to the family and social value regrouping; the famous native artist Dubuffet, as said by the Philosopher SHIH, Tso-Cheng, “His philosophy of art is to find out the position mankind and nature is actually existing; native art means a free expressions of civilization which crosses over oneself is sited, which also means to restore the shallow civilization back on the base of deep one where the purpose is to wake up the free spirit with originality thoroughly.” Everyone is a real presence, no matter what kind of look he comes in this world; Taiwan has 1.1 million of the handicapped and many disabilities among were caused by our society; the mainstream ranking in the society should not and cannot ignore them. Thanks for all of the supporters; you have contributed to our society with preciousness and deep value. Let us go back to the wider vision, “Single person, single star”; The compass in the starry world needs your hands to hand in hand for a constellation in our society where all people who are lost are lightened and given a direction and limitless hope.

我們的一年

社團法人台灣身心障礙藝術發展協會

時間飛快,光之藝廊創作獎已經邁入第三屆了。從每年年初開始籌 備討論、徵件、評審到拍攝紀錄片,最終呈現展覽,幾乎跨越了光之藝 廊整年營運的大部分時間,然而在不同的時間點,都有著全然不同的心 情。 三月份,我們特意在徵件簡章討論會上,經過一番激烈討論之後, 大幅改變了徵件類別,從原本以年齡區分的「創作獎」與「新秀獎」轉 而成為現在以障礙別區分的「身體功能障礙」與「心智障礙」兩個組別。 這樣的改變,其實是來自於對前兩屆參賽者與得獎者的觀察。以鼓勵有 潛質、具創新性與獨特性創作者的光之藝廊創作獎,因為要更精細的看 出身體功能障礙與心智障礙創作者各別在創作上的突破性 ( 因為要突破 的事物有本質上的不同 ),我們特意做了這樣的區分,其結果也反映在 徵件件數與評審結果上。

光之藝廊第三屆創作獎

七月底,在徵件將近結束的時間,工作同仁都難耐焦躁的情緒,每 天巴望著郵差的來臨,因為我們並不知道這樣改變徵件辦法,會帶來什 麼無法預料的結果。所幸天從人願,今年的徵件件數,從去年的 72 件 暴增為今年的 138 件,更有多種新類型的障礙創作者報名參加,我看在 眼裡,心裡著實鬆了一口氣。 八月份的兩次評審,更是徵件比賽達到最高峰之際。如同過往一樣, 這次徵件評審團也由多種身分組成,學者、藝術評論家、建築師、室內 設計師、基金會執行長、企業主與醫事顧問等等,都為了評審費盡心力, 其中不乏針對作品與創作狀態的深入對談,這次評審結果,光之藝廊在 「身體功能障礙」組有了第一次得獎者從缺的狀況,也第一次有五位創 作者獲得佳作。 如今,我們更緊鑼密鼓的籌備紀錄片拍攝、畫冊編輯以及展覽策畫 等等的工作,預備在十一月底開幕當天,給所有觀眾一次完整的呈現。 當我們開始走訪這些藝術家的住家,第一次認識他們與他們的家人,我 又如同往年一般,再次感受到那種震撼力。剎時間我突然理解,原來我 們忙碌了一整年,其實就是為了瞭解他們的一生,就如同在進行一段長 劉士楷

訪,創作者的父親很客氣的招待我們晚餐,然而,那一頓飯在微雨中整 整進行了五個小時。那五個小時,串連了他與他一整個家族史的過往,

親子間難以歸結的關係、孩子與社會間難以填補的縫隙,以及對這個家未來轉變 的嚮往與憧憬。那一頓飯,把我們也同時也串連了進去,使我們的生命變得更沉 重了一些,也同時,更了解我們承載的使命是什麼。我想,我們花上一整年,去 認識這些人,看似是走到路的終點了,其實只是另一個起點,未來有機會,我們 更會相伴走下去。

The Year We Went Through CEO Liu Shih-Kai Time passes by so fast! Creation Prize of Luminance Art Space is in her 3rd anniversary. Starting from preliminary discussion every year, through collection, review, records photographing, to the last stage of exhibition, almost took a majority of time Luminance Art Space in the whole year; however, the mood was varied with different time and place. In March, we especially had a significant modification to the type of works collection after intense discussion on Collection Brochure Meeting, where “Creation Award” and “Rookie Award” categorized by age are both transformed into “Physical Dysfunction Group” and “Psychological Dysfunction Group” categorized by disability. Frankly speaking, such modification originated from an observation to the participants and winners of last two years. The Award aims to encourage any creator with potentiality, creativity and uniqueness and we target to more details of break through these creators’ works which are distinguished by physical or psychological dysfunction (for reason of variation behind nature to the break through) by categorizing so, where number of work and result of review is also reflected. At the end of July which was the moment collection is ending up, our colleagues were so anxious to expect postman everyday because of our unknowing consequence which will unexpectedly come from such modification. Fortunately, God knows our will, the number of work in collection are increased from 72 of last year to 138 of this year significantly and more and more new types of dysfunctional creators coming forth that it really relieves me a lot. Two reviews in August were even at the peak time. As usual, the review team is also composed of a variety of identity, such as scholars, art critic, architect, interior designer, foundation CEO, owner to an enterprise and medical consultant and so forth; all of them made hard efforts on the work, among of which, not to mention further talks for the works and creation state; the review result shows that it is first time that Luminance Art Space needs to reserve one space for the winner and it is also our first time that five creators won the Best Creation Award simultaneously. Today, we are even scheduling ourselves tightly for the preparation of recording film photograph, painting brochure edition and exhibition preparation, and we are ready to

present all-inclusive show to the audience on the opening dated end of November. When we began visiting home of these artists and knowing them and their families at the first time, I, as usual, have a kind of feeling of shock once again. Just at that moment, I, in a sudden, realized that the whole year of big day is to realize how they had gone through up to now, just like a long-distance running marathon, the end, was lying in the minds of these creators and their families. On that day, Director of Record Film and I had an interview prior to the photograph with father of a creator. He showed us hospitality with a dinner generously, but, the dinner took 5 hours entirely in a tiny rainy day. During those 5 hours, every historic moment he and his family had gone through up to now was connected with a parental relationship hard to conclude, gap between kid and society which faces with obstacles to fill up and expectation

and vision the home upholds for future changes. That dinner also connected us which made our life becoming heavier, at the mean time, made us have more understanding of our mission we should take in our life. I think, we spent a whole year knowing them, everything looks like a path to the end, actually, that was another starting point and one day, if we have the same opportunity, we will be together to go through it.

Essay Curatorial Curator Liu Meng-Chin Every mind embracing art, actually, knows this scene. For example, Van Gogh, a boat among them, saw how ocean raging, how sky coloring that he realized that the truth is covered behind, the real world is up side and down, love is hard to find. So, he realizes love’s preciousness and art light more than anyone else. Art, not only the most genuine exposure of creator’s mind, but also a course where difficulties and value behind love and loved is reflected. However, it took us to the rich of mind, there, crowds of real messages covered by the world, against us and we never saw are filled. Perhaps, only such proprietary rights and means respond miracle of life. Our society is used to ignore these creators and how far these families’ bearing is more than what we imagine and dare to imagine; but, the beauty they create is visible to everyone. The show aims to review the land of mind these artists outside of the circles have and present their inner power. Many creators and works in the history of art tell us that the release of normal and abnormal, boundary inside and outside, breakthrough made on schools and genres are exactly the ego-crossed and dignity-created course. Art creation drives the trip, only by exploration of their works that the power is accumulated toward the other side. These artists suffered from their talents experience storm in the life but keep going; they exchange every God-granted precious gift, the art, with life and struggle. It is exactly the art which makes them contempt for any hardship incurred with the body and mind, make breakthrough in the frame of experience and plain power of mind and probabilities encourage us one by one with crowds of gestures that touch people. The works of these handicapped artists, no doubt, are the important properties of this society. By these artists’ discovered light and engraved life, we have opportunities of climbing different life valleys. We understand that many secret but real spiritual scenes remain standing there and waiting our exploration together and launch an immortal trip. The creation which is unknown but means everything is the other side every boat of hope is getting toward; the pursuit of creator and his family contains freedom and imagination, as well as quality of life exposed are just like a compass during the trip on the sea where stars jumping and taking you and me into the wonderland.

讓「原創精神」徹底而自然地展開

「徹底而自然的原創精神 / Spirit of Originality」! 當哲學家史作檉先生為二十世紀重要的藝術家杜布菲著述作序時, 提出了這個觀念;它因著社團法人身心障礙藝術發展協會的理事長陳翠 華女士之引用,向這一屆的創作獎評審團傳遞著訊息。席間,這個概念 在每一位評審者的內心撞擊、反省、思考、發酵,讓來自藝術創作和教 學、建築、策展與評論、室內設計、美食等多樣背景的專家,分享著這 個提示,透過集體互動,試著從諸多參賽和參考作品中,詮釋、尋找和 標示出這個獨特的精神標記。「徹底」是價值觀的撼動,而「自然」則 是來自於不費吹噓之力的直觀。 「原創精神」在一般的概念中,同時具有原始和原初性質、以及和 以往有所差異和區隔的創新特殊性。從藝術生產的角度來看,這是學院 藝術家們夢寐以求、也是世界級藝術家必然具備的性質。從邏輯上,身 心障礙者或任何未受過學院訓練的「素」人,或許可以具有原始和原初 的表現性,但要如何達到高度複雜的創新性?以完成「徹底而自然的」 原創性?法籍藝術家杜布菲的原生藝術(Art Brut)以界外人士所獨具、 難以名狀歸類的實踐質性為法,包括土著、精神病患和兒童,開展了他 受到學院美感價值框限的視野,也讓「界外藝術」(Outsider Art)成 為可能。因此,這個問題並沒有真正困擾「光之藝廊」創作獎在席的評 審委員們,因為「原創」是一種精神價值,而不是一項標準!「標準」 是可以度量的現實,而「精神」質性是無法度量的。「原創精神」因此 存在於評審團多樣價值的相對忖度之中,包括對於既有美學典範的心念 移轉,和古典視覺美感的懸置拋離;它來自於每一位委員的自我反思回 應和委員之間的價值謀合,相對而言,勿須建構可供後人模仿和追隨的

發地、難以停歇地流露在他 / 她可能揀選或僅有的物質材料中,訴說著獨特的言 語,編織著個人的故事。23 歲視聽覺極重度障礙的張百順,從諸多參賽者之中, 以他唯一的作品「我心目中的皇宮」,脫穎而出。評審委員被說服的不只是他如 何克服身障所盡的努力,而是他用觸覺費盡心思與人溝通內心深處那座、他無緣 真實看到、卻用心靈刻劃的「皇宮」。它沒有「像」與「不像」的問題,因為它 是原創、是世界的唯一,只座落在創作者心中和日日相伴、日趨敏感的材料互動 裡,是他心靈的依託,也為凡常者創造了夢想。 相對於身障組,心智障礙組的評審過程,總是如同一趟充滿了驚訝的旅程; 參賽者的心智障礙似乎無法困頓其清新神秘、難以預期和模仿的創作力,反而如 虎添翼,讓他們保有知覺世界的特殊能力。有些創作者很幸運地擁有伴隨指導和 開啟道路的老師;但是,事實證明,能夠說服委員們、那「徹底而自然的原創」性, 是不分貧富地潛存在有志者的內部,雖然無可避免地仍然受制於年齡和障礙程度

等客觀生理條件,卻因著周遭環境和照顧者的支持和尊重,讓原創性得以「徹底」 或「自然」地展開。最常困惑委員判斷的例子,就是參賽者的「參考作品」優於 被選擇出來的「參賽作品 Entry」;據揣測,這多半是來自於照顧者的過度干涉, 以世俗的美感標準框架了原創力的施展,甚至以學院法則限制了原初造型衝動的 可能性。今年 28 歲中度自閉症得佳作的陳立夫,其一系列令人瞠目的參考作品, 如同只受制於神秘基因力量的自體繁殖力,在其中,我們似乎可以直接窺視到細 胞分裂和複製節奏的有機生命韻律,何其迷人。三位獲創作獎的參賽作品 Entry 均具有令人讚嘆的優秀品質,年僅 20 歲輕度自閉症的郭湘瀅「後台」一作,毫 無遮掩地展現出創作者對人物角色「透視」的敏銳度,和令人驚艷的造型和色彩 原創力。13 歲中度自閉症的張慧瑜應該是最年輕的參賽者,獲獎的「燈會那晚的 合影」不論是人物面容和色彩配置,充分流露女孩纖細的感知能力和天生設計感 的裝飾圖案表現。25 歲中度智障的余信儒,作品中透過綿密筆觸和滿鋪式構圖所 創造出來的細緻描繪能力和對表達的自信,令觀看者瞠乎其後,獲獎作品「衝刺」 正是這個特質的完整揭露。對心智障礙、尤其是自閉症作者而言,我們幾乎忍不 住想要在美學價值上,重新定義「障礙」的意義;從這個角度視之,他們似乎比 我們凡常之人更加擁有知覺和表現事物的能力。 今年面對諸多競選作品,最終經過委員多重對話與慎重考量,選擇從缺一位

身障組創作獎獲獎者。相對於決定誰得獎,這恐怕是一項更困難的決定。評審們 反覆思考「光之藝廊」創作獎的獎項宗旨,以「具有潛質、創新、與個人獨特性」 回應了原創精神。評審們對此一精神的尊重,遠超過社會一般起於側隱之心的鼓 勵價值,這是對於身心障礙者的創作力,最深刻的期許。

身心障礙藝術發展協會作為身心障礙社群和凡常社會之間的中介者,需要經 常面對雙方差異而複雜的價值觀。假如在這個具有特殊性的給獎位置,不能釐清 隨著給獎所要強調的原創精神,將使獎項落入對身心障礙者的同情心結,而無法 真正尋找出讓所謂的正常人都感到匱乏與不足的原創精神。協會因此經常需要推 廣這些概念和想法,同時在身心障礙者個人和家人無力處理現實利益問題時,擔 任專業諮詢,和保護他們免於媒體過度曝光所受的干擾,和商業利益剝削的狀態。 在這個主張個人獨特價值的時代,身心障礙者的審美創造力,的確具有另類的市 場性。協會在這方面不遺餘力地推動得獎者作品的價值分享,同時創造他們得以 維生和獲得生命尊嚴的機緣,不論是透過作品本身的直接收藏,或提供多元而豐 富的創作材料和環境,以及圖像授權的加值運用,使這些具有原創精神的作品得 以發展散播至常民生活的感知經驗中,喚醒在影像快速傳播和複製時代,庸碌日 常易於沉睡的知覺創造力。協會本於此一觀察角度,企圖在市場價值之外能為身 心障礙者和社會大眾創造獨特的公益價值。有關智慧財產權的規畫和操作,是除 了作品直接銷售之外的替選管道;但是協會在推動影像授權的過程中,卻需要經 常面對無償提供的現實窘境。台灣社會要進入文創產業的時代,若仍以同情心為 由、無償運用身心障礙者的智慧財,將是對於身心障礙者原創力最徹底而自然地 濫墾和不當開採。在資本主義極度擴張的運作邏輯下,協會因而經常面對各種未 知的挑戰,這是他們在給獎任務之外,所專心致力的艱巨任務,令來自各界參與 評審的委員們,份外感佩。 連續三屆的「光之藝廊」創作獎,即將屆臨暫時休止的時間點,似乎令人感 到不捨。不論是對協會、或對獎項有期待的身心障礙者和支持他們的社群,這一 切似乎才剛開始,獎項意義似乎展現前所未有的清晰輪廓。但是,對協會而言, 正是這個逐步釐清的過程,使他們更加清楚給獎以外的行動方式,可以如何為這 些身心障礙創作者創造無障礙的藝術視界,讓他們的潛質得以探索發展、創新獨 特性可以與社會大眾共享。在評審的參與機緣中,我們無形中成為協會播散價值 的種子,共同為身心障礙者的藝術發展,聊盡棉薄之力。

When Mr. Si, Tsao-Sheng, a philosopher, made a preface for the work of a critical artist in the 20th Century, Jean Dubuffet, he mentioned this concept; it was quoted by the Director to Art Development Association of Taiwan with Disabilities, Mrs. Chen, TsueiHwa to communicate message to the review team of Creation Award this year. Among them, the concept was collided, reflected, considered and meditated in the mind of every review, where experts from versified background such as art creation, teaching, architecture, strategic development & comment, interior design and cuisine shared the hint and attempted to interpret, search for and mark such a unique sign of spirit from crowded works for competition and reference through collective interaction. “Thorough” refers to a situation of value in shock, while “natural” refers to an effortless intuition.

“Spirit of Ingenuity” has its original and ingénue property, a unique specialty which is distinctive and separated away from historic moments if reviewing it from general concept. From the view of art production, this is a kind of property that those artists of colleges have dreamed for, also the one world-class artist must have. Logically, the disabled or any one “common” people who never been trained from college might have such expression in origin and ingenuity, but, how to reach that kind of highly complicated ingenuity and accomplish an ingenuity “thoroughly and naturally”? French artist, Jean Dubuffet’s Art Brut set the practical qualitative which is unique to individuals out of circles and difficult to be classified with terms as the law, which including the Aboriginal, patients with ill mentally and children, to launch and expand a vision where he was constricted by the aesthetics received in the college, also made “Outsider Art” come true. Therefore, this problem is not troubling all reviews attending herein for Creation Award of “Luminance Art of Space”, because “ingenuity” is a value of spirit, not a standard instead! “Standard” is a measurable practice, while “spirit” is immeasurable qualitative. “Spirit of Ingenuity”, thus, is existing in the relative consideration of versified value among the review team, which including mind transform with existed aesthetics paradigm and suspension and abandonment of classic visual aesthetics; it comes from the match between every review’s self-reflection response and value; relatively, do not

construct a uniform specification for later generations’ imitation and follow. On the review platform composed this year, getting rid of, suspicious of and overthrown college style of inertia of thinking is a means to achieve “thorough” spirit of ingenuity while searching for the original uniqueness of bottom of creation is the basic principle of keeping the spirit of ingenuity “be natural”. During the course of review, a pile of picture archives stayed and flied in front of us. Among the works under Disabled Dysfunction Group, we, in particular, have observed pieces of works which needed players to overcome their own constrictions incurred with body function and the unusual persistence and amazing skills they presented us impressed all reviews deeply and admirable feelings emerged naturally. However, many works appeared to be constricted in repetitions behind expressions and imitation of skills, which were lack of abilities “to” or “not to”, and a uniqueness which only can be grasped intuitively, unrepeatable and hard to define in aesthetics; it comes from the bottom of life of that unity, even no need to instruct, expose a special language, tell individual story which he/she might selected or among materials he/she only had ceaselessly and naturally inside. Chang, Bai-Shun, in age of 23, suffered with visual and hearing impaired severely, gained every review’s attention by his only one work “My Dreamed Palace”. It is not only an effort he came out to overcome body dysfunction, but also a “Palace” he desperately touched and communicated with others that he never have chance to see, but described with his mind entirely convinced all reviews. It is not struck in the problem of “being alike” and “being not alike”, because it is in ingenuity, only one in the world, in the mind of creator and among interaction with materials being with him daily and more and more sensible; it is a thing he has relied on from his heart, also a thing for common people to create his own dream. Compared with the review course for Body Dysfunction Group, the review for Psychiatric Dysfunction Group is always a trip filled with surprise; every player’s psychiatric dysfunction appeared not to constrict his own creative power in fresh, secret, hard to predict and imitate, on the contrary, it helped him a lot which kept their unique capability in the conscious world. Some creators, fortunately, had teachers who accompanied him, instructed him and opened him a path; however, the fact proves that the factor convinced these reviews was a “thorough and natural ingenuity”, a potential hidden inside of dreamer with rich and poor all the same; although they are constricted by objective physiological conditions such as age and disabled degree, by virtue of the support and respect from the surroundings and caregivers, such ingenuity is expanded “thoroughly” or “naturally”. The cases which puzzle review’s judgment were that the “reference work” of player is superior to the “work of competition” selected; according to the inference, this originated from caregiver’s excess intervention mostly that the deployment of ingenuity was framed by the secular criteria of beauty, even the possibility of impulse for original modeling was constricted by the college rules. Chen, Li-Fu, in age of 28, suffered from moderate autism, won the Best Work; his series of reference works astonished everyone were only circled by self-productivity under secret gene power; wherein,

we seemed to spy on the organic life rhythm of cell division and replicate rhythm directly, which is so charming. Three creators whose works of competition won Creation Award have amazing and superior quality; the work “Back Stage”, created by Kuo, Hsiang-Ying, in age of 20 with slight autism, presented a high sensitivity in “perspective view” of characters unabashedly and impressive strength of modeling and color ingenuity. Chang, Huei-Yu, in age of 13 with moderate autism, should be the youngest player, her winning work “Joint Shot at Lantern Union Night”, no matter its figure look or color allocation, have exposed a girl’s delicate sensual ability and decorated pattern with innate sense of design. Yu, HsingRu, in age of 25 with moderate mental retardation, has his work with delicate outlining ability and a confidence in expression created and through dense brushes and filled layout which astonished every reviewer, the work “sprint” is exactly the entire exposure of this feature. For a creator with mental retardation, especially autism, we almost desire to redefine what is “obstacle” supposed to be on value of aesthetics; from this perspective, they appeared have more abilities of consciousness and expressions than us common people.

Faced with crowded works for competition this year, through reviews’ multiple talks and careful considerations, we chose to reserve space for the Winner to Creation Award of Disabled Group. It might be a tougher decision than that for who should be the one. The reviewers considered purposes of Creation Award of “Luminance Art of Space” repeatedly and responded spirit of ingenuity with “potentiality, creativity and individuality”. The respect reviews upheld for the spirit has been far more than encouraged value the society generally has the hidden side of the heart, and this shall be the deepest expectation for their creativity.

As a medium between the Disabled Community and common society, Disabled Arts Development Association needs value to face with variation and complex going between. If you are positioned in an award giver with uniqueness, and you cannot clarify the spirit of ingenuity you want to emphasize, then, the award would be struck in a sympathy link to the Disabled which is not able to find a spirit of ingenuity even common people would feel insufficiency and shortage. Therefore, the Association usually needs to promote these concepts and ideas, meanwhile, when the Disabled himself/herself and families find themselves difficult to deal with problems incurred with the practical interests, the Association can act as a professional consultant and protect them from disturbance arisen out of excess exposures in the media and exploitation of interests. In such an era with claims of individual value, the creativity of aesthetics produced by the Disabled, indeed, has its commerciality. On this aspect, the Association has made every effort to promote sharing of value behind these works, while create chances they can live up to and gain life esteem, no matter from direct collection of works or provisions of rich source of materials and environment for the creation and value-added applications of image authorization which made such works with ingenuity have space to develop and communicate to common people’s experience of consciousness and wake up a creativity of consciousness which is used to be fall asleep because of daily busy in an era of image rapid promulgation and reproduction. In view of such perspective

of observation, the Association attempts to create a unique public interests and value for the Disabled and common people out of the mainstream value of market. Concerning about the planning and operation of intelligent property rights, it is an alternative channel except for direct sales of works; however, during the course of Association’s promotion of image authorization, it has to face with a dilemma of real life from unconditional provision. If Taiwan wants to enter an era of culture and creation industry, if we only want to use or deploy intelligent property of the Disabled unconditionally by reasons of sympathy, then, it will become abuse in exploitation and improper use of the ingenuity of the Disabled thoroughly and naturally. Under a logical operation which is intensely expanded under capitalism, the Association, thus, has to face with a variety of unknown challenges and this is the toughest mission they have to be dedicated in addition to the mission of granting awards, and every review from circles indeed admire this in particular. The Creation Award of “Luminance Art of Space� held in consecutive three years is coming to an end temporarily which makes people feel pity. No matter for the Association or the Disabled especially expect for the Award and the community support them, all of these are starting likely; the meaning of award appears to be clear which it never been before. However, for the Association, it is exactly the progress of step-by-step clarification making them have deeper knowledge of action mode except granting an award, and knowing how to create a vision of accessible art for these creators as Disabled which make their potentiality be explored and developed, creativity which can share with the public. In the chance the reviews were involved, we become seeds for the Association to distribute value and contribute a bit for art development of the Disabled jointly.

張百順,一個雙眼幾乎全盲的年輕人,用他的雙手當量尺,一節一 節的把竹筷裁剪下來,以極為緩慢的速度將它們拼湊成巨大的城堡,有 房子,有動物、有擺飾,並且每個門窗都能開關,精緻程度令人讚嘆。 資料顯示,百順自小雙眼漸盲,他從沒看過城堡,所有的造形憑藉著觸 覺的試探與純粹的想像…他是今年光之藝廊藝術創作獎「身體功能障礙 組」首獎得主。 另一位首獎藝術家袁鵬偉則罹患肌萎縮性側索硬化症(漸凍人), 他的身體受到極大的限制,動作緩慢,並且不受控制,卻能以熟練的技 巧創作出一幅幅具詩性的電腦繪圖作品。 我的腦海一直浮現張百順和袁鵬偉他們兩個人創作時的情境,他們 是怎麼辦到的?若不是對藝術充滿極大的狂熱和毅力,他們如何能突破 身體的限制與病痛,而做出如此令人感動的作品。

這個競賽不僅鼓勵了許多身心障礙的朋友,讓他們有機會發表作 品,持續創作,也讓各界人士了解這個族群的創作面向與特質。筆者過 去擔任過許多大大小小的評審工作,參與「光之」的評審最令我感到戰 戰兢兢,除了參賽者身分特殊,創作不易,主辦單位的用心也讓我感到 佩服,試想一般的競賽都常常弄得人仰馬翻,更何況要這些身體擁有如 此多障礙,連生活都需要他人協助的朋友,把作品交到比賽單位。如果 沒有專業的協助,沒有過人的愛心和毅力,這個競賽是不可能成功的。 我如是想、如是觀、也如是感動不已…。

李足新 新竹教育大學 藝設系教授

Li Tsu-Hsin Professor of the Department of Art and Design, National Hsinchu University of Education Chang, Bai-Shun, a young man in nearly blindness, uses his hands as a ruler to cut down the bamboo chopsticks into knots and puts them into a giant castle with slower pace, where there are house, animals and decorations contained, every window is switched on and off which the sophistication fascinates everyone. Indicated from the data, Bai-Shun had both eyes in blindness gradually that he never saw what castle or elephant is supposed to be; every shape was formed through tactile temptations and pure imagination; he is the winner to the First Prize of Creation Work under “Physical Dysfunction Group” of Luminance Art this year.

Another artist who is awarded with the First Prize and suffered Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (gradually freeze people), Yuan, Pong-Wei, has body constricted significantly that in slower movements beyond his own control; however, his skilled strength helps him create poetic-style paints via computer one by one. In my mind, Chang, Bai-Shun and Yuan, Pong-Wei always remind me of the scenes during their creations and how can they make that? If it were not in such an extremity of passion and persistence behind art, how could they break through constrictions and pains behind disease in bodies and shape such touching works. The competition not only encourages many of our friends in body and mind dysfunction and grants them opportunities to publish works and continue their creativity, but also gives circles of individuals a chance to make an understanding of the creative property and aspect behind such group. The author, had been a judge to a number of competitions regardless of large or small scale, feels that being a judge to “Luminance Art” this year is the most struggling one, in addition to the uniqueness of every player which it is not easy for them to create, the host’s carefulness also impresses me a lot; imagine that a normal type of competition often make people in chaos, not to mention that these friends who are dysfunctional in their bodies and in need of others’ help in daily life need to submit their works to the host. If it were not through the professional assistance, extraordinary love and persistence, this competition may not succeed. No matter in thoughts or observation, I am always moved and touched ceaselessly…

由另一扇窗通向的完美

張百順以觸覺感知的敏銳特質,讓故事感的空間投射在心中影像, 再將它化為一根根的緩慢悠長但持續性的動作,一根根的架構起這個粗 略的想像。它的建構沒有好眼又具備專業知識的建築系學生來的精緻細 膩,卻一片片透出細膩的感情,與執著的堅實態度,這一切都打動了所 有評審的心。 上帝一定會為你開另一扇窗 觀察舉世聞名身心殘障的藝術創作者,從近代西方的梵谷,乃至於 東方被喻為日本當代藝術最富盛名的草間彌生,往往能看到創作裡,不 僅洋溢熱情,也看到一個與眾不同的感知世界。草間彌生對於點狀構成 的圖像世界源自於其幼年神經視聽性的障礙,使得其所看到的世界都隔 著一層斑點狀的網,而這樣的圖像都源於不同的感統過程,感覺的統合 是所有人從幼年起,所建立對外認知的一道窗口與過程,當某些感知器 官受到了障礙,便會由其他感官轉移以協助補足對於該物件的辨識與認 知功能,由於身心障礙者,或因失去視覺、聽覺,或者神經系統的障礙,

使得他們對於尋常人所建構的感覺統合產生了異質的改變,雖然失去了 所謂「正常」的建構程式,卻反而從別的異質觀點,建構了獨特的型態 與方式,感知的觀點產生轉移,使得詮釋與統合的觀點也產生了改變, 進而影響創作的思路,而這也是藝術創作的重要的起步,也於此啟開了 身心障礙者在創作上重要的論述起點。 多數人在評價或者欣賞其創作作品時,會以其身心的殘缺所帶來 的劣勢作為補償式論述觀點,認為其創作的品質雖不能與一般正常創作 者比較,但能看到活潑強韌的生命力,並以此建構欣賞的美學與論述, 筆者一時雖也能認同,但深究其觀點雖能對創作者有所鼓勵,但長期來 看,其創作的水準與觀點難獲市場大眾的認同,以至於從者必然會愈顯 萎縮,而不能從根本建構其創作的真正熱情與創新的美學觀點。如不能 挖掘並定義其創作的特質與潛質,以期達到真正的鼓勵與表彰效果,並 期以點滴漸漸影響廣如瀚海的創作思潮,對於此一獎項的立意或有所折

扣,相信也不是大眾所期待。 創作的價值在對於光明希望的最大期待 這個世界的偉大成果往往來自於殘缺的起步與開始,換句話說,一 個來自於貧困的家庭,便有機會鼓舞一個追求人生成功的的最大動力, 蘋果的創辦人賈伯斯便在自傳中,強調一個遺棄而被領養的殘缺的人生 起步對他追求成功時,所給予喚醒人生不凡影響與貢獻的偉大信仰。 我們心中對光明的期待,與對生命的熱切追求的能量,透過本身已 是有相當殘缺的創作者身上,找到救贖與鼓舞。這也是佛洛依德所說的 對於「昇華的殘缺性」,藉由超越肢體的障礙以及擺脫殘缺所追求的完 美,所激勵起的強大力量能對於芸芸眾生的凡俗與鄙夷,發生具爆發性 的美學力量,並對廣義性及普遍性的殘缺人生,能感動並召喚真實正面 的力量。

從以上的觀點來看,參與徵件的藝術創作者中,除了張百順以盲眼 的創作中建立一個觸覺感知的世界值得鼓勵。另外,有位使用紅外線盲 拍的創作者蔡尚閒,由於圖像與選材的獨特性,常常使我駐足並陷入其 創作的世界裡,雖然此次的創作因整體完整性不足,未能獲得所有評審 者共鳴,但其所併發的視覺獨特與張力,卻深具潛力,也期許該位創作 者能繼續努力。 此次榮幸受邀參與評審工作,不僅得窺此一領域的創作能量,, 也

獲得深度的領略與思考,筆者相信透過光之藝廊陳理事長在此一內容的逐步耕 耘,對於創作者乃至於社會大眾都能帶來美學的啟發力量,雖由對殘缺的鼓舞出 發,其影響的裨益與成果卻著實偉大而昭著。

Perfection from Another Window Fan Ho-shuo / Person in charge of XXtraLab DESIGN CO. Chang Bai-shun reflects the space with sense of story in the image of mind with sensitive property of tactile perception, then, turns it into strings of long slow but continuous movements and builds up such rough imagination piece by piece. The foundation is not as fine and delicate as that built from students studying at Department of Architecture who have good visions and professional knowledge, but perfection exposed piece by piece and its persistent attitudes which move all judges. God Will Open Another Window for You Observe those famous handicapped artists from the west contemporarily such as Van Gogh to Yayoi Kusama who is implied as the most famous person in Japanese contemporary art circles in East that a sensual world which is not only filled with passion, but also in distinctive form seen in the creation. Yayoi Kusama’s images constituted by dots originated from the visual-hearing obstacles suffered in neural system when he was a child, which caused a dot-shaped net isolated him away from the visible world, and such images originated from different sensual and integrated courses. The integration of sense is a window and course that all children built for cognition to the outer world; when a sensual organ finds difficulty, it will be transited into other organ for assisting in supplementing function of identify and cognition on the said object; due to reason that the Disabled, perhaps due to obstacles incurred with visual sense, hearing or nervous system, their sense of integration built for common people had heterogeneous changes, which although are lack of the so-called “normal” foundation mechanism, it constructs a unique pattern or type from another heterogeneous perspective, where the perceptive are transited and views of interpretations and integration also change, further have influence made on the ideas of creation; this is also an important step to start an art creation, also initiates a critical starting point of discourse for the creation of the Disabled. When most people are criticizing or appreciating the creation, they usually do that from the inferiority brought by the handicapped body or mind as a supplementary view for discourse, who consider that although the quality of creation is not able to be compared with that of normal creators, the active and persistent vitality is also seen and served as the base for aesthetics and discourse in appreciation; even though the author approves this point for some time, however, while having in-depth discussion of the views, though encouragement

for creators, difficulties of confidence the public have them from the level and view of creation remain in a long term, so that the followers must be constricted to construct the genuine passion and innovative perspective of aesthetics from the root. If we cannot discover and define properties and potentiality behind the creation, so as to achieve genuine effects of encouragement and exhibition, further influence the massive trend of thoughts in creation gradually step by step; perhaps, it would have debate on the intention of the award which is not expected by the public. The Value of Creation Lies in the Largest Expectation of Light and Hope The great result in this world usually originates from the Disabled; in other words, a poverty family had a chance to inspire success of life and it is the biggest power. The founder to APPLE, Steve Jobs, emphasized the point by depicting a story of the life in his autobiography, which it starts from abandonment but adoption then where it is filled with pursuit of success and it exhibits a great belief to wake up extraordinary influence and contribution of life.

The expectation we uphold for the light and energy of passionate pursuit of life has found redemption and encouragement on the creator with a severe degree of disability. This is also Sigmund Freud’s “sublimated Deformity”, which by virtue of making breakthrough on the handicapped obstacles and getting rid of perfection the deformity is in pursuit of that the strong power inspired enlightens a power of aesthetics on mundane and contempt of common people, further moving and calling real and positive power to the deformity of life in generality and universality. Observed from the perspectives as above, among all creators in selections, except that the first prize winner Chang Bai-sgun constructs a world of tactile perception from blind creation which worth encouraged; besides, a creator Tsai shang-Hsien who uses infraredblind photograph often makes me struck in the creative world due to its uniqueness of image and selective materials; although the creation this time failed to obtain consonance from all judges due to its insufficient integrity as a whole, its concurrence of unique vision and tension is deeply potential that we also expect the said creation to make efforts constantly. It is my honor to be invited as a judge, which not only to see the energy of creation in this field, but also to obtain the in-depth realization and thoughts; the author believes that by virtue of steps of cultivation on these contents Director Chen of Luminance Art of Space had, although the power of enlightenment for aesthetic s brought to the creator, even the public starts from the inspiration of disability, the beneficial influence and result are indeed great and obvious.

觸動心靈無遠弗屆

感謝陳理事長邀請擔任複審階段的評審。 有此機會,讓我看到身體功能障礙組的交件初選後,豐盛多元且與 眾不同的作品。也借此碰觸到每位創作者的內心。 在張百順的作品裡,這孩子他用他強烈的毅力,聽覺與視覺的隔閡 只能憑藉著手的觸感,一支一支等距切割。然後用撐架、用堆疊、用黏 接,一支一支緩慢吃力的表達出他想像的皇宮場景。一樓的馬房與馬的 泥塑,二樓可以拉動的隔柵窗都讓評審一致驚艷投他首獎。 還有一件李琬娟的水墨畫特別觸動著我,因為台灣目前普遍環境的 喧鬧與浮燥,很少能看到如此寧靜與細緻的渲染與專注的線條,讓我羨 慕著無聲內在的世界。 當上天不經意關起一扇門,仍然會悄悄開啟另一扇奇蹟的窗。我想 這就是藝術之無價與觸動心靈無遠弗屆。

Jiang Lo-Ching / Jhang Lo-Ching Architect & Associates Thanks Director Chen being invited to serve as the review for the reexamination phase. Also with this opportunity, I can see so many multiple and a comprehensive range of different works from preliminary selection of works in Physical dysfunction group, while touching every creator’s mind. In the works of Chang, Bai-Shun, with strong persistence, the kid cut his works with distanced the same by virtue of handful feeling of touches because of isolation from hearing and vision, then, with brackets, stacks and bonding, he expressed his imagined palace scene piece by piece slowly and with hardships. The first floor of stable and horse in clay, as well as the pulled grille window on the second floor all fascinated the reviews and consented him to be the winner of the prize concurrently. There is another work of ink painting which the creator is Ms. Lee, Wan-Juan, touching my heart in particular, because currently, Taiwan is filled with noisiness and impetuous situation massively that such tranquil and delicate rendering and linear concentration are rarely seen, which makes me envy an inner world in peace and without any voice. When God closes one door carelessly, He remains another miracle window be opened in silence. I assume it to be a valueless art and touchable mind limitless.

不幸,往往能讓人再度清醒過來。一個能看見現實殘酷的人,是不 會放棄自己夢想的實踐。當我們的身、心、靈為傷、疾所苦之際,心思 也隨之糾結。藝術自古纏陷於生死、傷痛的桎梏,總訴說靈魂苦痛的悲 喜交集,追求昇華的渴望。然而,身、心、靈的苦痛如何以身外之物的 語言傾訴?社會的普世價值如何解釋這一群生命難以承受之重的天使, 正視那蒼白淒美的弱勢,給予正面的擁抱與鼓勵。 感恩「社團法人台灣身心障礙藝術發展協會」藉著舉辦「光之藝廊 創作獎」徵選活動,透過藝術創作,讓這一些上帝悲憐的天使們,啟開 了另一扇智性之窗,讓他們能進入自我的認知世界以及本我的內心世界 探求創意的本能與美感的開創;也讓一般民眾藉由這一整個活動,更深 入思考及瞭解這一群身、心受創的天使們,如何面對自己的「障礙」受 限克服肢體的活動極限,奮力表達那內心的悸動與感受,創造藝術的最 大可能性。活動舉辦至今已進入第三屆,每一年徵選的優勝者,協會積 極幫助策畫個展及聯展,建立一個「對等看待、相互激勵、實踐生命價 值與意義的社會氛圍。」藉由活動生活化的藝術形式散播與分享給大眾, 同時也引起了許多迴響,讓一般的民眾能以正向的觀念對於身、心障礙 的天使們,進一步認識他們內心純淨的心靈世界。

Misfortune often reawakes people. One who sees cruelty of reality will not abandon making his dreams coming true. Our minds are intertwined while body, mind and spirit are suffered from injury and illness. Art, historically, has been wrapped and trapped into a span of life, death and pain; it ceaselessly depicts an entangled sadness and happiness a soul is involved into and a pursuit of desired transform. However, how to narrate such sufferings of pain in the body, mind and spirit with an abstract language? How to interpret such group of angels carried with unbearable pain with a universal value of society, and how to face with that dreary, pretty minority and give them a positive hug and courage.

We want to thank the selection for "Luminance Art Space’s Creation Prize" through the host of "Arts Development Association of Taiwan with Disabilities”; such group of angels in God’s mercy are enabled to open a wise window through art creation and enter a world of self-cognition and ego to explore creative instincts and beauty; the general public are also enabled to have more in-depth considerations and understandings of the ways such group of angels with body and mind traumatized use to face with their own limited "obstacles" and overcome upper limits physically, struggling to express how they are thrilled and create the largest probability of art. The Event is the third one since establishment; every winner selected per year will acquire the most proactive assistance from the Association in planning the solo and joint exhibitions for the foundation of “a social atmosphere filled with peer treatment, mutual encouragement and life value and significance into practices." By means of spreading and sharing life style of activity in art form with the public, a pile of feedback also are arisen that they can uphold positive attitudes on these angels with body and mind disorders and further have understanding of their own inner world in purity.

漂亮的滾地球一壘安打

最美麗的風光,不一定是鼎鼎大名的風景名勝,有時反而是不為人 知的田野風光,最令人喝采的成就不一定是全壘打,有時可能是一支漂 亮的滾地球一壘安打。 本人這次因緣際會,竟成為光之藝廊第三屆徵件比賽心智障礙組的 評審,才得以一窺這群「特別」「孩子」的創作,「特別」是指每個孩 子都有其獨特的症狀與遭遇,有的是一進陌生建築物就會找角落站著的 自閉症,有的是一出生就失去邏輯能力,沒方向感甚至不會說話的多重 障礙,「孩子」是指有的是十幾歲的少年,有的是五十多歲的老頑童, 不論年紀多寡,他們的心仍停留在稚幼階段。他們的畫作,人物表情生 動,風景秀麗宜人,動物逗趣活躍,用色大膽、五彩繽紛,幾乎每一幅 作品,都在述說一個故事,欣賞這些作品,會激勵陷入困頓的人,突然 發現一片新天地,因這些孩子純真、可愛,創作超出一般正常人的意境, 因沒有紅塵俗事的羈絆,作品常會跳出框框,任何人看了都會發出會心 微笑,給予擲地有聲的讚賞。

作畫的孩子,因專注於創作,心性改變,一些狀況逐漸安定,透過 畫作表達無法用言語表達的想法,用心於構圖與著色時,心情可以十分 穩定,避開了不安與窘態。藝術創作不論對孩子本身或者欣賞作品的人, 都有極大的獲益,不論是創作者的得到安定專注或欣賞者的獲得啟發激 勵。希望有更多的人,來鼓勵這些孩子,透過畫作的肯定與讚美,甚至 收藏,豐富生命的意涵,開創人生的另一扇窗。

A Tricky Grounding Ball Single Wang Kuo-Hsiung / Vice President of Wowprime Corp. The most beautiful scene is not definitely the famous sightseeing site, sometimes, it is an unknown field; the best achievement people should give applauds to is not definitely the home run, sometimes, it might be a tricky grounding ball single. I, by this chance, become a review to Psychiatric Disabled Group in the 3rd Luminance Art of Space and find creations of these “special” “kids”, “especially” means unique symptom and encounters every kid has; some of them are kids with autism who find a corner and stand up still while entering a unfamiliar building; some of them are born with multiple disabilities

such as loss of logical and direction feeling, even do not speak; “kid” means a teenager, some of them are old kids in fifty. No matter how old or young they are, they are still childish. The figures in their paintings have vivid faces, comfortable and pretty scene, fun, active animals with boring colors; almost each of them has a story behind; during appreciation, these works are able to encourage people who are in difficulties to find a new world, because these kids are so pure and cute, their creations are out of normal situation from fetters of real world, so the works often jump out of the frame that anyone would have smile on their faces while looking at them and admire them truly. A kid with painting has his personality changed and stable gradually because of concentration in the creation; through these paintings, they can express any thoughts that are unable to be done via languages; when they give commitments on the sketch and colors, they can be very stable to avoid anxiety and embarrassment. Art creation benefits people a lot no matter to kid himself/herself or people appreciating the works, no matter creator acquires static state and concentrated mind or appreciators are enlightened and inspired. I hope that more and more people to come here encouraging these kids, enriching meaning of life and create another window through approval and admires, even collection of these painting works.

陽光與彩虹併現的秘密花園

長期的工作慣性,尤其是一直浸在「當代藝術」的範域裡思考: 甚麼樣的藝術是更珍貴的、更有價值的? 我總是在尋找對於前人所反覆留下的屐痕有所超出、有所突破、 有所跨越那麼一小步的藝術家跟作品;無論是在觀念上的新思辯新實 驗、於材質或技巧上的新開發…,這類在每個時代中具有前衛性的藝 術家們,通常擁有一種性格上的強度與敏感,充滿了必要達陣的意志 與野心,有的機鋒聰明,有的深刻而睿智,這些似乎是當代藝術家主 要的才情。 我想,這是當然,在後現代之後,已全面去主流的多元時代,唯 有對於未見之深度的挖掘,以及未達之廣度範域的拓荒,正是人類對 於文化思想與藝術最有價值的探險。 這個信念在過往的工作中,與時間的累積一逕被加強,不曾稍惑。 直到這次,有機會受邀來參加「光之藝廊創作獎」心智障礙組的評審, 一次忽然看到這麼多心智障礙的大人與孩子們,完全存在於之前我所 視為圭臬範疇的圍欄之外,像似另一個世界般的花園風景,是如此澎 湃而華麗的存在! 感動,感動,無以名之的感動。這是我參與評審的那幾個星期裡, 不斷翻騰湧動的真實感受。 經過非常難以抉擇的過程,我們帶著些許惶恐的選出這幾位心智 障礙組的獲獎人,之所以惶恐,是因為裡面精彩得讓人感到意外的作 品實在非常多,但選出來的結果卻也讓我們深感歡欣喜悅,因為選出 來的藝術家都有無愧於「天才」之名的棒! 來到此地作為專家的評審工作,卻出乎意外的有如一腳踏進陽光 與彩虹併現的秘密花園,我於是知道:藝術,也可以完全不必在意要 超越甚麼歷史的框架,對照這些心智障礙的藝術天才,超越框架的欲

A Secret Garden with Sun and Rainbow in Presence Hu Yung-Feng / Independent curator , Art critics This is a long-term habit of work, especially the reflections made in the field and scope of “contemporary art” always: What kind of art is the most precious with value? I have always been looking for an artist and his/her work which had breakthrough made and crossing over any tracks inherited by the precedents; no matter it is a new experiment for new theory debate or new research & development on the material or skills…, these artists who were with avant-grade style in every era usually have an intensity and sensitivity as the characteristics, where a willingness and ambition to the goal line is filled, wherein some of them are smart, some of them are wise deeply; all of these appear to be the talents the contemporary artists are supposed to be.

I think, this is for sure that it is a multiple times with mainstream removed after the postmodern times; only with a limitless depth of discovery and exploration in extremity of wideness that it is claimed to be an advantage human beings have on the most value of culture theory and art. This belief has been strengthened without confusion during work accumulated from the past years, until this time, I got a chance being invited to be the review of the Dysfunctional Group of “The Best Creation of Luminance Art of Space” that such many adults and kids with patristic disability suddenly appeared who were completely out of the framework what I supposed to think, just like a garden in another world, which was so brilliant and gorgeous! So moved and another moved. This is how I feel truly about the review thrillingly for those weeks. Through such tough course of selection, we selected these winners from Dysfunctional Group with fear; the reason why we had fear was that we had too many works which were so brilliant and in shock; but these selections also made us feel pleasant and happy, because they were real “talent and amazing” deserved to be! Coming forth and being the review as an expert, unexpectedly, I was feeling in a secret garden with sun and rainbow in presence concurrently; so, I know: Art, can be ignorant of any breakthrough made over the frame of history; compared to these art talents with patriotic disability, the desire to cross over the frame becomes the frame itself, without crossover, breakthrough, a real freedom; so, when you cross over with relax, you have made it become the real freedom. A walk going through “a secret garden with sun and rainbow in presence concurrently” becomes an unexpected trip like a call from the God and spirit, so blessed and grateful.

純潔簡單的信念就足以感動人

注視著「光之藝廊」的每一張繪畫作品,我陷入了不是我慣常認知 的藝術表達世界中,自由而不受約束的筆觸色彩,都是來是一群身心障 礙的年輕人,不禁感嘆這些上天賦予的藝術靈光,所遭受的身心磨難。 對自閉症、肌肉萎縮、聲障等創作者來說,創作的靈光總是如燭光脆弱, 不知何時就會熄滅,他們比起一般人更敏感的受環境左右,可能隨時就 無法繼續畫畫。 初識「光之藝廊」是在今年 Young Art 時,從開始初步接觸,中間 也曾懷疑他們是否真有能力做這件事。在經過想方了解和更頻繁的往來 後,我現在已經認同這個組織,並盡可能協助他們。對弱勢團體的幫助, 一般人認為我們是給予、付出的一方,對他們的創作也只是視為復健治 療的一環,並會不認真的去關注它們。但當你親自去接觸「光之藝廊」 這一群創作者和工作人員後,相信會有所改觀,並訝異於自己的輕忽遺 忘。我陸續經由收藏他們的作品與捐助微薄的演講費,逐漸地進入他們 的故事,體認到表面上我們的所施,實際上回饋給我們者可能遠遠更多。 每個身心障礙創作者的作品,常有超乎想像的異想,有時甚至偶然 會發掘到作品背後一個個有血有肉的生命故事,透過此連結我逐漸被療 愈、清洗了生活繁瑣的汙濁,浮現對藝術熱愛的初衷。這個初衷也是我 在自己的周遭、事業中所尋找的—它是感動人的、啟發夢想的各種事件。 2010 在上海策劃「無聲之詩」,開幕展出時,我私下作了一年內不消費 任何時尚精品的約定,這除了呼應展出中佈置以蔬果取代花藝、員工以 回收圖紙創作的環保訴求,更希望減少一些物欲,將省下的金錢轉移到 幫助弱勢、投入購買藝術品及支持台灣藝術創作環境等,而到如今一年 將屆,我迄今仍信守著這個自我的許諾。而成立「設藝之間」也是這個 想法的延伸,思索著空間設計與藝術的依存關係、對話方式,以及當兩

Watching every painting work of “Luminance of Art Space”, I am stuck in an art expression world where is not what I used to recognize that every free and limitless brush, color is coming from those young men with Disabled dysfunction. I, inevitably, have pity on the physical and psychical sufferings behind art light granted by God. For these creators with autism, muscle atrophy and hearing impaired, the light for creation is always week as candle light that not knowing when to distinguish and they are more sensitive to environment than normal people who might not paint continuously at any time. It was my first time meeting with “Luminance Art of Space” while in Young Art this year; from beginning when I had contact with it, I have ever doubts about their capability of fulfilling all of these. Through mutual understanding and more frequent interaction, I have approved this organization and doing my best to help them. Generally, others may think us a party who give and contribute to these Disabled Groups and we just consider their creations as an integral part of rehabilitation treatment, not to care about them seriously. However, when you contact with these creators and staffs of “Luminance Art of Space” in person, I believe something will change and you will be astonished to know your negligence and oblivion. Afterwards, I was involved with their stories gradually through collecting their works and donation of few speech fee and realized that our giving exteriorly, in fact, is much fewer than what we received. The work of every Disabled creator often has its unimaginably different idea, sometimes, a life story in fresh and blood behind a work may be discovered; through such connection, I was cured gradually and dirt in complex of life was cleaned where original idea of passion for art is emerged. The origin is also what I have been looking for around me and in the career – it is a variety of events touching people and enlightening dreams. In 2010, when I planned an exhibition for opening of “Voiceless Poetry”, I arranged myself not to consume any fashionable brands within a year, which the concept was reflected in an decoration with vegetables and fruits used instead of flowers, a claim of environmental protection by employees’ creation on the recycled pictures and papers which we expected to reduce some material desires and saved more money to help the minority, invest to buy the art works and support an environment for Taiwan’s art creation and so on, and now, the term of one year is

coming to an end and I remain upholding such commitment for myself. The establishment of “ARTERIOR” was also an extension from this concept, which the dependence relationship and means of dialogue between spatial design and art are both considered, as well as a question that how a life space in respecting for both of them and formed jointly change our life experience. How does the attitude of creation and work from these artists move people which is not only a deployment of creative talent, but also a kind of responsibility and considerable mind for collectors who love their works; being a translator and interpreter between owner and artist, it is such delivered precious message people should seize, so as to make up for any difference or gap between them. Acting as the review for “Luminance Art of Space” this time, although not my expertise, I, even am like a rookie, appreciated and discussed with others about every work. On every trip to and from Taichung for the review, I got rid of all restlessness brought by the job and enjoyed happiness of the whole process; being an interior designer, I have been in troubles of building work standard usually, in pursuit of a variety of achievement and desires that my body and mind had been damaged. During the course of several times when I joined, I have been rest assured and relaxed; also further realize that pure and simple belief is enough to move people.

My name is Chang, Bai-Shun. I named my work as “Nameless”. I was supposed 51 to make a palace, but because I have been 52 blind that I never saw what a palace looks like. The work was completed by my handful 53 feeling of touch and images built when I was 54 a kid, so, the work is also my palace. 50

one which is able to be pulled upward, next 2 to the house, I also utilized the withered tree my mom planted for decoration; the firefly 3 on the tree was made from my grandma’s 4 cat’s booty and grandma left it to me. The design was concentrated on the 2nd floor 5 entirely. There is a pull-enabled door in 6 front of the house and the idea was coming 7 from that of home; two stairs at bottom were designed for people going down from 8 the 2nd floor and the materials were the 9 gift Director gave me last time and I used 10 it accordingly; thank you, Director. There are four houses designed on the 1st floor 11 too; within the classroom, I designed table, 12 black board; in the animal room, there are animals and horse; the horse was coming 13 from the pottery clay class where I learned 14 to make by imagination and feeling; within 15 the warehouse, there are log, rice and two cannons; the last one is an illegal parking 16 lot where a wall encircling the entire house 17 around. I also designed a city gate with two 18 soldiers; there are people transporting food out of the town and I also put a cart that I 19 completed before, which was made by clay 20 and popsicle sticks, and the house of cart was also a work that I completed before, 21 which was to build a feeling of going out of 22 the palace; at last, I put two dragons at both 23 sides of the city gate; those were supposed to be part of a dragon boat which I should 24 complete last year, because of shortage of 25 time, I gave up. Coincidently, I assume it is Dragon Year and my dreamed palace is 26 relevant with dragon, so, I put here to share 27 with everyone. The materials for above work 28 were coming from the popsicle sticks that my mom accompanying me to the bookstore 29 and bought, plus some log which I cut and

adhered it piece by piece with white glue 32 gradually. It took me about two years from beginning to the end. Wherein I would 34 please salesman or my parents to help me 35 sow off the log for encircling the city while it was out of my strength to do so, then, 36 I completed it gradually. It is so pity that 37 I could not see my work clearly while it is 38 in completion, but, my daddy said, it is like Atlantis, and my younger sister said that it is 33

The Beginning of a Dream---Birth of LED PAD for Communication

Journalist often asks me, “What was 30

the origin of my developing this LED PAD 32 for communication?” Frankly speaking, the reason is simple; it is because of my 33 expectation of being understood by others, it 34 is because that gradually freeze people have extremely slow movements, unable to speak 35 that others around them often lose patience 36 to wait and were rush to piece together 37 what they mean, but, unfortunately, they often guess wrong and misunderstood it. 38 Everyone is in more and more anxiety which 39 makes these gradually freeze people whose 40 lives are supposed to be hard lead life in more difficulty. 31

The course of development of LED Pad for Communication was not smooth 43 at beginning, and all people said, “How rarely gradually freeze people are seen, 44 and the product is lack of commercial 45 value; none of manufacturer is willing to 46 put them into production.” However, with a kind idea as it was, where the miracle is 47 born. Students who are studying EMBA 48 of National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) 49 launched donation and their Eco-City had cooperation with Gradually Freeze People 50 Association that nearly half a year was spent 51 on preliminary phase of listening to patient fellows and caregivers’ needs, conducting 52 scenery observation while visiting patients’ 53 home, one-day life survey and have a 54 mutual discussion with assistive advices engineers, occupational therapists and 55 physical therapists that the development and 56 research and improvements of technologic assistive advices were started from end user’s 57 perspective, concurrently, a team named 58 Dreamwork which is composed of EMBA 59 members of NCTU were in charge of patent, funding and searching for cooperative 60 42

A Program of Making Your Dream Come True---A Shop with Story 6

Taiwan Stock Exchange hosted a Dream-come-true program for her 50th 8 Anniversary and I was fortunate to be 9 selected; as indicated from the beginning of this proposal, I wanted to apply for this plan 10 because I always have a dream; that is, carry 11 on “A shop with Story” – Establish a Internet 12 website for auction of works made from gradually freeze people and their families. 7

Many patients as gradually freeze people are in versatile talents, some of them 15 are talents in painting and photographing, some of them are talented in poetry and 16 verses creation and some of them are good 17 at recording a variety of life stories…also 18 some of them have wishes of publishing books! However, the problem is that we are 19 in shortage of a transaction platform which 20 is visible to everyone and is in fair course; by 21 virtue of “Shop with Story”, they can present their life creations and also increase their 22 family income. 14

I listened to birds’ chirp, frogs’ 42 shout under the scream; the cool breeze 43 moved the textbook that pages were rolled over slowly and quickly in occasions, and I 44 always saw it in peace until my both eyes 45 glazed and I was dazed. The place beneath 46 the hoop was also where I was there often; I usually sit at bottom of the hoop thinking 47 around and sometimes, when someone 48 came here for play, and I watched them 49 playing happily and noisy, at that moment, I was also happy. The fish pond next was 50 a place I usually talked to myself. Holding 51 a bad meat bun and throwing it into the pond piece by piece; at this time, a group of 52 fish would swim over here to eat them up 53 quickly. After they were feed up, I felt hungry 54 too. Sitting next to the trunk in the park and the playground were the paradise where 55 my friends and I like to be, when we played 56 until tired, here is a good place for everyone resting and chatting. I was born with hearing-impaired in Dadu Township, Taichung County; I started 49 learning pottery very early, and my father is a 50 well-known ceramic artists –Hsieh, Zhi-Feng, 51 where I only could learn a tiny part of it; further, I began learning calligraphy and won 52 the second place in the 11th Calligraphy 53 Competition of Central Region at National 54 Chinese Contest, Hearing Impaired Group; Meanwhile, I started learning painting in 55 Gimei Workshop of Teacher, Tseng, Shi-Kai; 56 with his guidance, my ability to draw grew from null where I not only learned ways to 57 use crayons, watercolors and other tools, 58 but also knew the way to make good use 59 of them, at that time, illustrator or children's painting style were the mainstream. I studied in the junior high school, the 2 passion for painting remained, even won Best Selection of Illustrator in the campus 3 exhibition. When I studied in the senior high 4 school, Teacher, Tseng, Shi-Kai had taught me oil painting that he thought it was the 5 best chance for me to deal with where I 6 should go toward at university and I took 7 part in Art Society of this school, which aimed to get a clearer picture how far my level of 8 painting was supposed to go; meanwhile, 9 I had fewer chances to use crayons, but, 10 on the contrary, I had more chances in practicing sketches, which was because 11 I started to learn sketch and water color 12 painting from Teacher, Wang, Hsing-Chi of Pingtzi Painting Studio, and he thought that I 13 should improve my painting which was also 14 a factor to prepare the technical examination, 15 then, I learned me for two years. When I studied at 12th grade of senior high school, 16 that was my first time having Teacher and 17 Student’s Joint Exhibition with Teacher, 18 Tseng, Shi-Kai, in Culture Center of Taichung City. After graduated from senior high 19 school and I prepared for university with first 20 choice was my own decision and the rest were decided by my parents. As a result, I 21 passed the exam and entered into my first 22 choice smoothly – National Taiwan National 23 Taiwan University of the Arts, meanwhile, my water color painting was selected for 24 Beauty Exhibition held in Taichung County, 25 which I should thank Teacher, Hsieh, MingTsang’s instruction; at that time, l was used 26 to have practical style plus that the skills of 27 using water color were quite acquaint and I 28 had confidence in every portion of content that not only I should put everything into 29 the picture, but also I need to improve and

increase the correspondent strength, just 32 like lyrical story. When I was a sophomore, I won the first prize of Chen, Ting-Shi 33 Scholarship, but the oil painting remained 34 practical style that no more than unique styles were discovered and kept myself 35 under a conservative state, until the moment 36 when I read – Chen, Ying-Huei Painting 37 Collection that I was keenly interested in his contemporary works, and obtained some 38 knowledge of lines and modeling; when I 39 was a junior, my work – Door God won the 40 Best Works of Art Craft Prize under Disabled Group of Taipei Fu Bon Commercial Bank, in 41 which it was the most obvious proof. 42

余信儒,今年 25 歲領有中度智能障 礙手冊。信儒排行為家中老二,有一個 哥哥,目前和爸爸、媽媽、哥哥同住。 信儒自出生即因不明原因腹瀉整整 一個月餘,加上高黃疸住院照 X 光同時

讀特教班,再去醫院評估,評量結果為 「智能發展障礙中度」,申請了身心障 礙手冊,開始了國中生活。 讀國中後相較於國小,才發現原 來信儒在特教班就讀是很快樂的。這樣 單純的快樂也持續到高工三年。

發現合併有心室中隔缺損,三、四個月

東勢高工畢業後即到信望愛智能

時即明顯發現生理發展遲緩,一歲左右

發展中心成人部『甜甜屋』學習,迄今

開始出現熱性痙攣的情形,為了瞭解信 儒的發展及生理健康進出各醫院做各種 檢查…最後得到的結果是─不明原因之 身心發展障礙。幼稚園階段媽媽帶阿儒 上了很多提升發展的課程,也經常帶阿 儒外出旅遊露營或訪友,也訓練信儒自 己做他能做的事情… 熱性痙攣情況持續至 6 歲後不再發

已經六年多,在甜甜屋學習很多做事情 的方法,也學習跟人做互動,學習表達 自己、關心別人。信儒在甜甜屋的學習 一直是很快樂的,爸爸和媽媽很開心阿 儒能一直保有單純的快樂,在一個令人 放心的地方學習。 信儒喜愛看電視,尤其是棒球比

生,卻在國中二年級開始出現全身性抽

法透過電腦的文字輸入發音,信儒認得

更多文字,能靠有限的文字與看圖搭 配,自己會在報紙與電腦上搜尋自己想 要的資訊,這是媽媽覺得信儒很厲害的 一點。 信儒自國小三年級開始在小羊畫 室學畫,至高一轉與怡青老師學素描約 兩年,後暫停畫畫學習一年,並從 96 年開始跟隨余玉老師學習油畫迄今。目 前家中收集大、小油畫近 30 幅,信儒 的希望就是能夠開畫展,談到畫最常掛 嘴邊的就是要開畫展。開畫展是信儒與

光之藝廊第三屆創作獎

家人的共同希望。 信儒靠各種生活體驗增加很多學 習,在畫作得獎後有更多不同的體驗, 因蕭副總統的接見到了總統府;因為藝 術商品義賣的機緣上電台接受訪問;因 為『夢想包』信望愛募款專案的機緣參 加電視節目錄影…等。信儒樂在生活中 學習。 〈信儒媽媽代筆〉

Yu, Hsing-Ru, in an age of 25 this year, is licensed with moderate mental retardation manual. He is ranked to his elder brother and living with daddy, mommy together. Since birth, due to diarrhea with unknown reason for a month coupled with a light treatment for high jaundice in hospital and with a ventricular septal defect, HsingRu was found with an obvious physiological developmental delay in 3-4-month age and hot spasms around one year old; in order to make a full understanding of his development and physical health, he received various checks in many hospitals and the final results were physical and mental developmental disabilities with unknown reasons. When he studied in the kindergarten, his mother took him for many courses in topic of enhancement and development and accompanied with him on travelling, camping or visiting friends; she also trained him to deal with things he can do… The hot spasms continued until age of 6, but generalized cramps initiated at the time when he was studying in the second year of junior high school, since then, he has have epilepsy once, twice even thrice each year. The unforgettable incidence was in the moment for Japan trip at the airport, for this, the airline company rejected our boarding and we had to watch all peers and friends leaving. Hsing-Ru waited at the airport with his daddy and mommy for a whole day and they were still rejected; they were disappointed and returned home. Next year, under the arrangement of his teacher in Faith Hope Love Sweet House, he took on another challenge from Japan

trip again and this time, he finally arrived at Japan as he wished and had a happy 5-dayand-4-night trip in Japan; his first winning work was exactly in topic of his trip to Japan Disneyland. He was studying in a kindergarten sited in Fengyuan City which named “Dandelion Daycare School”; he studied in the normal class in Fengchun Elementary School and in the IQ Test arranged by his teacher, he scored at critical point. He has have very nice teachers’ care during studying in the elementary school and when he studied at junior high school, in order to be enrolled in the special education, he went for second assessment in the hospital and the result indicated "moderate mental retardation"; so, he applied and was issued a disability manual; since then, he began his life in the junior high school. Compared with elementary school, his mother unexpectedly discovered that Hsing-Ru was happy in the special education while in the junior high school. Such purity endured three years of Vocational Industrial High School. After graduated from Tungshih Vocational Industrial High School, he went learning in “Sweet House” of Adult Division in Faith, Hope and Love Intelligent Development Center for six years up to now; he has learned a lot of ways in dealing with things and interaction with others; he also learned expressions of himself and caring for others. Hsing-Ru is happy in Sweet House and his Daddy and Mommy are both happy that Ru can reserve such purity of pleasure and learn in such a place for assurance. Hsing-Ru loves watching TV,

especially baseball games and other various compet it ions or Gold Melod y Awar d Ceremony and Gold Bell Award Ceremony, concerning weather forecasts, social News and so on; he pays special attention to news as to disasters such as typhoon or earthquake and shares with families. His love for computer and baseball gives motives to learn word identification and typing, even enabled him to look up the dictionary to find out the desired text and entered into the computer based on the phonetics; such spontaneous learning originated from the motives; his mother helped him with natural pronunciation input method installation into the computer and learned more words through the computer’s pronounce of texts; he knew how to search any information he desired via limited texts and pictures matches on the newspapers and computer, which is the point where his mother feels his strength. Hsing-Ru began to learn painting in a studio named “Lamb” since the third grade of elementary school until the 10th grade at high school, then, he turned to learn sketches from Teacher Yi-Ching for two about years; after this, he suspended for about one year and began to follow Teacher Yu-Yu’s step in oil painting up to now. Presently, there are about 30 works collected at home, regardless of bigger or smaller ones. 心工作,突接獲愛妻來電,她笑中帶淚 激動說出:「湘瀅得到光之藝廊創作 獎!」欣聞佳音,不自覺地眼淚汨汨流 下,伴隨思緒飛揚,想著這一路上給我 們溫情的朋友;想著孩子未來是否較有 希望…。偷偷拭去流出眼眶的淚水,深 怕同事笑話,但內心裡卻不停反覆默 念,默念自己曾經寫予愛妻分享心情的 話語──「飛揚晴空心舒暢,不意造物 鎖樂魂,愁緒滿溢胸懷苦,隨緣奮起啟 歡心」。期盼,期盼歡心自此開啟舒展。

翻閱湘瀅自小到大隨意塗鴉的畫 作,以及審視她獲得台北縣「美育」縣 長獎的獎座,內心常有有股莫名的悸 動,往事自此歷歷在目。清楚記得瀅兒 自小終日不得閒,閒時畫不停,同學們 排隊索畫不以為苦,她作畫常一筆成形 宛若神助,完成後滿足快樂的模樣,好 似荒漠甘泉,慰藉父母心。而今,她仍 然每日獨自上四樓畫室繪畫多次,每次 皆畫二、三小時才休息,偶爾在旁看書 陪她,看著她不發一語沉思、構圖、調

It was a sunny morning in the early of fall, and I was concentrating my job; suddenly, I received my wife’s call hearing her voice of smile with tears, “Hsiang-Ying won Creation Award of Luminance of Art Space!”. It was so happy to hear such good news and had tears unconsciously; with the pleasure thoughts, I recalled memories friends being warm to us and sending us regards these days; I considered if my child has promising future…wiped away tears and being afraid of colleagues’ making it as a fun, but I repeated unstoppably the words I have ever shared with my wife-“My heart was flying with the sunny sky but things make me unhappy unexpectedly; I am filled with worries but I will follow chances to rise up and be happy”. I expect that the happiness starts its way with me from now on. When I arrived home after work in the evening and shared such pleasure with my family; I asked my wife how did she feel about Hsiang-Ying’s winning the prize. She said, “she just sit, cried and laughed on the stairs with memories of hardship she had

with her child, and every helper gave us a hand these years; I also thought of any hope light exposed from her struggling without stop.” My sweetheart Hsiang-Ying was happy on her face inevitably. We asked her how to use the prize, and she said seriously, “I want to help Daddy buying Satellite GPS.” What a considerable child, I felt so warm at that moment.

Hsiang-Ying has been keenly interested in figures and animals painting; she has an excellent spatial sense with impressive linear drawing which charms others a lot; she has her viewpoints on color matches and control, she can create a style which is unique to her. Browsed all works Hsiang-Ying put free graffiti onto and reviewed the model she won County Mayor Award of Aesthetics in Taipei County, I often had have been moved by an unknown feeling that reminded me of many memories clearly. after Teacher Ting-Jen left for Japan for Doctoral program that she finally obtained Teacher Lin, You-Cheng’s initial approval, who was graduated from the Institute of Taipei University of Art, of making efforts with due care to guide her painting and giving Hsiang-Ying new framework of painting, as well as being contact with and learning a variety of media and materials; in addition, she made Hsiang-Ying have her own space for creation and helped her assuring personal style of painting; we really appreciate Teacher You-Cheng’s patience and instruction. “Spring silkworms produce silk until the last minute of their lives and candles send out light until they are completely burned”, it is our hopes to do for our child. What we think and worry is that when our life coming to the end, without us, is Hsiang-Ying able to live on her own? Will she have lonely life happily? If one day, through our ceaseless diligence, she can help comforting other’s mind by her painting; she can comfort her own mind by painting. Then, as her parents, prior to our farewell to this world, we might be able to tell her well-deserved, “My sweetheart, I am so sorry for your hardship,

but, we had done our best for our love to you.” I write down every true moment of our accompanying sweetheart, HsiangYing going through her growth, course of learning painting and every drop of mood, we expect that Hsiang-Ying to gain more friends’ approval, understanding and help from now on. Meanwhile, we take this chance to thank and send our blessing to all friends who have ever accompanied our going through such struggles and may everyone of you be healthy, happy and in peace. Huei-Yu is my third child, and she has an elder brother and an elder sister. When she was born, she looked like no different from her brother and sister, but, gradually, she was found to be in more distinction with others especially reaction to people and language imitation. When she was 1.5 years old, I took her to have a psychiatry examination in Mackay Memorial Hospital with doubts and the physician told me assuredly after some

assessments, Huei-Yu was in autism and right now, it was incurable medically and it would be with the patient around the whole life; the symptoms are depending on everyone’s situation, from light to severe; what we can do now is to have a rehabilitation treatment course. From the moment we were sure HueiYu’s situation, what we have to face with become more obvious. Huei-Yu is stubborn at where she is sited and the way she was doing; any change and uncertainty often makes her in anxiety, being irritated and ceaseless crying. A series of courses such as occupational capability treatment, sensory integration and language treatment, plus Psychiatry Division of the hospital were the place I have been with her. From beginning, an idea of Huei-Yu’s learning painting originated from a teacher in Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, because she loves to color anything, and she is in more stable while coloring, so, when she was about 10, under Teacher Lin Yu-chen's guidance, she started to learn painting and this was the first time that Huei-Yu was on class without me (I was always with her for a variety of treatment courses), actually, I

was afraid of hearing her cries. One hour passed and I saw her presenting a work completed (a chimpanzee), and I was so surprised that she can make it! Teacher Lin said that she belongs to a child with inferior quality of oral expression, but, she can have an excellent presentation and reproduction ability on visual painting and she can start to create under teacher’s lead. With pieces of work gathered, I can see her growth by only using crayon pens persistently from beginning up to now, she can make it by water color painting for different kinds of contents. This time, we won the Creation Award in “Luminance of Art Space” which makes me feel that “belief” and “persistence” are both critical factors for success of a child with uniqueness. This year, Huei-Yu takes her steps in the 7th grade of junior high school and she is attending normal class and resource class. Autism remains, even contains Tourette Syndrome that she often speaks out some lines of news anchor and ad lines, and she is yet stable in expressions of mood and controlling it. When she is in treatment class, the teacher taught her to express why lies in her heart by typing, just like the painting Huei-Yu completed before, often fascinated me and moved me a lot. Everyone can make anything from “null” to “presence”, but not like the child as Huei-Yu, who finds tough to make that. I want to thank all teachers who taught Huei-Yu to take challenges with brevity and with their “belief” and “persistence” that Huei-Yu has more and more things from “null” to “presence” now. 著博笙到台北去大開眼界,真是非常難 得特別的體驗,而最讓我感受深刻的, 在全部作品中,博笙的作品所展現出來 的就是葉老師眼中的「獨特原創」,真 是獨一無二!謝謝葉老師!!

看見孩子最珍貴的—獨特 博笙是典型自閉症又合併過動及 情緒問題的孩子,小時候都坐不住,坐 在椅子上,幼稚園老師默數 2.5 秒就會 起來教室全場跑,生氣時推人,大叫摔 東西…真像個魔鬼。而博笙現在國中三 年級了,上葉老師的陶土課,可以安靜 專注且開心的創作,真像個天使!! 回想起剛到教室時,最讓我感到 特別的人是葉老師,因為我不曾看過一 位老師像葉老師這般的珍愛我們特殊孩 子的每一個作品,特別是對「原創」的 尊重。記得我曾與葉老師分享一本博笙 參加聯展的畫冊,葉老師好認真的看著 博笙的作品,並且用「藝術家」的規格 在陳述原生藝術的想法時,最先打亂的 是我的思維,每上一次課就打亂一次, 每次我都會出現不同的問號,當然在下 一次的上課中,我的提問又會讓我的問 號少幾個,直到現在,博笙在葉老師的 引導下,總能樂在其中自由創作,將他 的想法展現出來,當媽媽的我,只要認 真的鼓掌就好!!因為我學到了葉老師 說的「我們要尊重藝術家」!

〈 博笙媽媽代筆 〉 Tseng, Bo-Sheng – To see the most precious of child - uniqueness Bo-Sheng is a kid with typical autism incorporated by hyperactivity and emotional problems; when he was a child, he could not be calm and when he was sitting on the chair, upon the teacher counting up for 2.5 seconds, he would get up and run around the classroom everywhere; when he was angry, he would push others, scream or threw things around….really like a devil. Now, Bo-Sheng is studying at 9th grade in the junior high school, and he can concentrate on his creation in static state and be happy while on Teacher Yeh’s Pottery Clay Class; he is really like an angel!! It reminds me of the most unique person who impressed me a lot while being in the classroom initially; that is, Teacher Yeh. Because I never saw any other teacher resembling Teacher Yeh for treasuring every creation from our unique children, especially the respect for “original creation”. I remember the moment when I shared a painting brochure Bo-Sheng used to attend a joint exhibition and he watched his works so seriously; when he stated the concept of original art with specification “an artist” would

uphold, my thoughts would be the first part to be disturbed, even on every class and I always had different questions; certainly, my questions which will be raised in next time would reduce more up to now, under Teacher Yeh’s guidance, Bo-Sheng always is free to create and express what he thinks in the mind; at this moment, as his mommy, it is enough to give him applauds sincerely!! Because I have learned from Teacher Yeh’s concept of “our needs to respect artist” !

In July this year, with Teacher Yeh’s help, the work, “Dragon World” created by Bo-Sheng won Lily Award of Taipei Fu Bon Commercial Bank under Disabled Talent Award Craft Group, and I accompanied him to Taipei for an eye-opener which was really a special experience. The most impressive part is that in Bo-Sheng’s work, the presentation is exactly the “unique original creation” considered by Teacher Yeh, which is so unique! Thank you, Teacher Yeh!! 極品! 富鈞是個乖巧樂觀的小孩,喜愛 看電視也喜歡畫畫,最近喜歡上廚藝, 喜歡一個人自言自語。個性溫和有禮貌 在學校能和同學相處愉快,一直以來都 是老師眼中的模範生、父母的乖小孩。 Even though Fu-Jun has limited ability for comprehension, he always does his best on everything others ask him to do seriously; when he began learning painting, he always paints circle as a square with round angles and the teacher requests him to practice painting concentric circles at home, as a result, he prepares a workbook especially for at least fifty circles weekly and submits for teacher’s checks; exactly with such an innocence and sincerity that his mommy ever made fun of him and said, Fu-Jun is the best of all kids with autism! Fu-Jun is a nice and positive kid, who is fond of watching TV and painting. He likes cooking recently and always talking to himself. His personality is mild and polite that he gets along with classmates happily at school; he always is the model student in his teacher’s eyes and good kid in his parents’ minds.

After graduated, I returned to Taipei and lived with my father in 2004.

國小,爾後南遷嘉義,一直讀到嘉義啟 智學校高職部,畢業後,民國 93 年北 返台北與父親一起居住。 返回台北後,經歷過伊甸基金會, 與台北市自閉症家長協會附屬小貝殼精 油香皂工廠上班,應是水土不服吧!所 以自民國 99 年至今都在家裡自修。不 過在家時間實在也不很多,因為喜歡爬 蟲類、昆蟲,所以大部分時間多在山 上,或在海邊去找我喜歡的寶貝,所以 日子過的還算有趣。

I like animals such as dog, hermit crabs, cellular, pot cattle, moths, grasshoppers and beetles. I like painting hermit crabs, bees, strange blossoms. I like to do sports such as bowling and basketball. Other interests : I also like paper folding.

光之藝廊創作獎,每年載著許多逐漸發亮的藝術新星啟航,至今已 歷第三年。在這三年裡,光之藝廊每一天都是亦步亦趨的,將這些從創 作獎中選出,充滿潛能與創造力的藝術家們,推展到各個地方、各個領 域與各種各樣的人群面前。每到一個新天地,當藝術家站在鎂光燈前接 受眾人的讚美與掌聲,我們總是心懷感激的想起您們,惟有您們不間斷 的支持、鼓勵,我們才得以順利前行,你們除了是我們的船槳、我們的 風帆,更是如同燈塔般的守護者,一路照耀我們、引導我們,在此,我 們誠摯的感謝有您的參與,身心障礙創作者的舞台,需要您持續發出光 亮,讓我們看見羅盤上的光。

光之藝廊第三屆創作獎

A Protector as a Lighthouse. Thank you for all of these~ The “Best Creation” Award hosted by “Luminance Art of Space” has been carried with crowds of new artists for their new trip and it has already in the 3rd year up to now. During these 3 years, we had have steps of progress everyday and selected these artists for the works from the “Best Creation” Award and promote their potentiality and creation to people of every place, field and types. For every new place we arrive, we are always grateful about your ceaseless support and encouragement for these artists’ feeling applauds and admiration from the audience under the spotlight; only with all of these, we have smooth path to go. You are not only our oar, sails, but also a protector as a lighthouse for everlasting light and guide; hereby, we appreciate your participation sincerely that the stage of creation from these disabled groups need your ceaseless light for our vision of the light on the compass.
