ORDER OF SERVICE
Reception Of The Cremains
The Celebrant meets the body and says: With faith in Jesus Christ, we receive the Cremains of our brother Colin for burial. Our brother Colin was washed in Holy Baptism and anointed with the Holy Spirit. Let us therefore, with confidence, pray to God our Heavenly Father, the Giver of Life, that He will raise him to perfection in the company of the Saints.
Celebrant: The Lord be with you.
Congregation: And also with you.
Celebrant: Let us pray.
O God of grace and glory, we remember before you this day our brother Colin. We thank you for giving him to us, his family and friends, to know and love as a companion on his earthly pilgrimage. In your boundless compassion, console us who mourn. Give us faith to see in death the gate of eternal life so that in quiet confidence we may continue our course on earth, until, by your call, we are reunited with those who have gone before; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The following sentences are read:
Jesus said, I am the resurrection, and I am the life. He who believes in me, though he dies, yet shall he live, and who ever lives and believes in me shall never die. (John 11:25-26)
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases. His compassion never fails; every morning they are renewed. (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Jesus said, let not your hearts be troubled; believe in God, believe also in me. (John 14:1)
I am sure that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Roman 8:38-39)
If we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord; so then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s for to this end Christ died and lived again. That he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. (Romans 14:8-9)
We brought nothing into the world, and we take nothing out. The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. (Job 1:21)
The eternal God is our refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms. (Deuteronomy 33:27)
Eternal Father, strong to save, Whose arm hath bound the restless wave, Who bidd’st the mighty ocean deep Its own appointed limits keep; Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee, For those in peril on the sea!
O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard And hushed their raging at Thy Word, Who walked upon the foaming deep, And calm amidst its rage didst sleep; Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee, For those in peril on the sea!
Celebrant: Let us pray.
Most
Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude, And bid its angry tumult cease, And give, for wild confusion, peace; Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee, For those in peril on the sea!
O Trinity of love and power! Our family shield in danger’s hour; From rock and tempest, fire and foe, Protect us wheresoe’er we go; Thus evermore shall rise to Thee Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.
Almighty God, we remember before you today your servant Colin and we pray that, having opened to him the gates of larger life you will receive him more and more into your joyful service that, with all who have served you in the past, he may share in the eternal victory of Jesus Christ our Lord; Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
Congregation: Amen.
The congregation sits for the Liturgy of the Word.

READER: THE OLD TESTAMENT LESSON | Wisdom 3:1-5,9 | Sidney Sawyer III (Grandnephew)
But the souls of the righteous are in the hand of God, and no torment will ever touch them. In the eyes of the foolish they seemed to have died, and their departure was thought to be a disaster, and their going from us to be their destruction; but they are at peace. For though in the sight of others they were punished, their hope is full of immortality. Having been disciplined a little, they will receive great good, because God tested them and found them worthy of himself. Those who trust in Him will understand truth, and the faithful will abide with Him in love, because grace and mercy are upon His holy ones, and He watches over His elect.

HYMN | Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father, there is no shadow of turning with thee; thou changest not, thy compassions they fail not, as thou hast been thou for ever wilt be.
Refrain:
Great is thy faithfulness! Great is thy faithfulness; morning by morning new mercies I see; all I have needed thy hand hath provided great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest, sun, moon and stars in their courses above, join with all nature in manifold witness to thy great faithfulness, mercy and love. [Refrain]
Pardon for sin, and a peace that endureth, thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide; strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow, blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside! [Refrain]
