ORDER OF SERVICE

I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!” And all the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, singing, “Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen.” Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, robed in white, and where have they come from?” I said to him, “Sir, you are the one that knows.” Then he said to me, “These are they who have come out of the great ordeal; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. For this reason they are before the throne of God, and worship Him day and night within His temple, and the one who is seated on the throne will shelter them. They will hunger no more, and thirst no more; the sun will not strike them, nor any scorching heat; for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and He will guide them to springs of the water of life, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

Congregation: Thanks Be to God

O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder Consider all the worlds thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy power throughout the universe displayed:

Refrain

Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee: How great thou art! How great thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to thee: How great thou art! How great thou art!

And when I think that God, his Son not sparing, Sent him to die, I scarce can take it in, That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration, And there proclaim, My God, how great thou art!

The Holy Gospel

-THE SERMON-

At the conclusion of the sermon, the congregation stands, and is led in the Nicene Creed

Celebrant: Let us with confidence and hope confess the faith, into which we were baptised, as we say, Congregation: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Celebrant: Lord Jesus Christ, we commend to you our brother Colin, who was reborn by water and the Spirit in Holy Baptism. Grant that his death may recall to us your victory over death, and be an occasion for us to renew our trust in your Father’s love. Give us, we pray, the faith to follow where you have led the way; and where you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, to the ages of ages.

Congregation: Amen

The congregation kneels for the Act of Penitence.

-THE ACT OF PENITENCE-

Celebrant: If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

A period of silence shall be kept.

Celebrant: Let us therefore confess our sins.

Congregation: Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, we have sinned against you and one another, in thought, word, and deed, and in what we have left undone. We are sorry and repent of all our sins. For your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, forgive us all that is past, and grant that we may serve you in newness of life to the glory of Your name. Amen.

Celebrant: Almighty God, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness and keep you in life eternal; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Congregation: Amen.

Celebrant: We are the body of Christ. By the One Spirit we were all baptised into one Body and have all been made to drink of the one Spirit.

Congregation: Let us then pursue the things that make for peace and build up the common life.

Celebrant: The peace of the Lord be always with you.

Congregation: And also with you.

OFFERTORY HYMN | The Lord’s My Shepherd

The Lord’s my Shepherd, I’ll not want. he makes me down to lie in pastures green; he leadeth me the quiet waters by.

My soul he doth restore again; and me to walk doth make within the paths of righteousness, even for his own Name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk in death’s dark vale, yet will I fear no ill; for thou art with me; and thy rod and staff my comfort still.

Celebrant: The Lord be with you.

Congregation: And also with you.

Celebrant: Lift up your hearts.

My table thou hast furnished in presence of my foes; my head thou dost with oil anoint, and my cup overflows.

Goodness and mercy all my life shall surely follow me; and in God’s house forevermore my dwelling place shall be.

-THE EUCHARISTIC RITE-

Congregation: We lift them up unto the Lord.

Celebrant: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

Congregation: It is right to give God thanks and praise.

Celebrant: It is right and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to give You thanks, Father Almighty, everlasting God, through Jesus Christ our Lord; who rose victorious from the dead and comforts us with the blessed hope of life eternal. For to Your faithful people, O Lord, life is changed, not ended; and when our mortal body lies in death, there is prepared for us a dwelling place eternal in the heavens.

Therefore, we praise you, joining our voices with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, who forever sing this hymn to proclaim the glory of Your Name.

Congregation: Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might; heaven and earth are full of Your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Celebrant: Sovereign Lord and Father, to you be glory and praise forever. In your boundless wisdom you brought creation into being; in your great love you fashioned us in your image; in your tender compassion you sent your Son, Jesus Christ, our Saviour, to share our human nature; in the power of the Holy Spirit, He overcame the power of sin and death and brought your people to new birth as first fruits of your new creation.

On the night that He was betrayed He took bread, and when He had given thanks to you, He broke it and gave it to his disciples and said: “Take this, and eat it; this is my Body which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.”

And after supper He took the cup of wine, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them and said: “Drink this, all of you; This is my Blood of the New Covenant, which is shed for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.”

Celebrant: Therefore, Father, according to the command of your dearly beloved Son Congregation: We remember His death. We proclaim His resurrection. We await His coming in glory.

Celebrant: And we offer you, Father, our sacrifice of thanks and praise. Send your Holy Spirit on these gifts of bread and wine that they may become the Body and Blood of your Son, Jesus, our Lord and Redeemer. As we partake of this holy food of new and unending life, may your Holy Spirit establish us as a royal priesthood with the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, St. Barnabas, St. John the Baptist, and all your sons and daughters who share in your eternal inheritance; through Jesus Christ our Lord. With Him and in Him and through Him, by the power of the Holy Spirit, we worship you, Father Almighty, with all who stand before you in earth and heaven, in songs of everlasting praise:

Congregation: Blessing and honour and glory and power be yours forever and ever. Amen.

-THE

LORD’S PRAYER-

Give us today our daily bread, forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: Grant him rest. Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: Grant him rest. Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world: Grant him rest eternal.

Communion Hymn

And Now, O Father, Mindful Of The Love

And now, O Father, mindful of the love that bought us, once for all, on Calvary’s tree, and having with us him that pleads above, we here present, we here spread forth to thee that only offering perfect in thine eyes, the only true, pure, immortal sacrifice.

Look, Father, look on his anointed face, and only look on us as found in him; look not on our misusings of thy grace, our prayer so languid, and our faith so dim; for lo! Between our sins and their reward we set the passion of thy Son our Lord.

And then for those, our dearest and our best, by this prevailing presence we appeal; O fold them closer to thy mercy’s breast, O do thine utmost for their souls’ true weal; from tainting mischief keep them white and clear, and crown thy gifts with strength to persevere.

Lord, enthroned in heavenly splendour, first-begotten from the dead. thou alone, our strong defender, liftest up thy people’s head. Alleluia! alleluia, Jesu, true and living bread.

Here our humblest homage pay we, here in loving reverence bow; here for faith’s discernment pray we, lest we fail to know thee now, Alleluia! alleluia, thou art here, we ask not how.

Paschal Lamb, thine offering, finished once for all when thou wast slain, in its fullness undiminished shall for evermore remain, alleluia, alleluia, cleansing souls from every stain.

Life-imparting heavenly Manna, stricken Rock with streaming side, heaven and earth with loud hosanna worship thee, the Lamb who died, alleluia, alleluia, risen, ascended, glorified

Communion Hymn

Here, O My Lord, I See Thee Face To Face

Here, O my Lord, I see thee face to face; here faith would touch and handle things unseen; here grasp with firmer hand the eternal grace, and all my weariness upon thee lean.

Here would I feed upon the bread of God; here drink with thee the royal wine of heaven; here would I lay aside each earthly load; here taste afresh the calm of sin forgiven.

I have no help but thine; nor do I need another arm save thine to lean upon: it is enough, my Lord, enough indeed; my strength is in thy might, thy might alone.

Communion Hymn

O Thou, Who At Thy Eucharist Didst Pray

O THOU, Who at Thy Eucharist didst pray That all Thy Church might be for ever one, Grant us at every Eucharist to say With longing heart and soul, “Thy will be done.” Oh, may we all one Bread, one Body be, Through this blest Sacrament of Unity.

For all Thy Church, O Lord, we intercede; Make Thou our sad divisions soon to cease; Draw us the nearer each to each, we plead, By drawing all to Thee, O Prince of peace; Thus may we all one Bread, one Body be, Through this blest Sacrament of Unity.

We pray Thee too for wanderers from Thy Fold; O bring them back, Good Shepherd of the sheep, Back to the Faith which Saints believed of old, Back to the Church which still that Faith doth keep; Soon may we all one Bread, one Body be, Through this blest Sacrament of Unity.

So, Lord, at length when Sacraments shall cease, May we be one with all thy Church above, One with Thy Saints in one unbroken peace, One with Thy Saints in one unbounded love: More blessèd still, in peace and love to be One with the Trinity in Unity.

Congregation: Almighty God, we thank you that in Your great love You have fed us with the spiritual food and drink of the Body and Blood of Your Son Jesus Christ, and have given us a foretaste of Your heavenly banquet. Grant that this Sacrament may be to us a comfort in affliction, and a pledge of our inheritance in that kingdom, where there is no death, neither sorrow nor crying, but the fullness of joy with your saints; through Jesus Christ our Saviour. Amen

POST COMMUNION HYMN | It Is Finished

There’s a line that is drawn through the ages

On that line stands that old rugged cross

On that cross a battle is raging

For the gain of a man’s soul or it’s loss

Refrain:

It is finished, the battle is over

It is finished, there’ll be no more war

It is finished, the end of the conflict

It is finished, and Jesus is Lord

On one side, march the forces of evil

All the demons and all the devils of hell

On the other the angels of glory

And they meet on Golgotha’s hill. Refrain:

The earth shakes with the force of the conflict

And the sun refuses to shine

There hangs God’s son in the balance

And then through the darkness he cries. Refrain

The Son of Righteousness is gloriously risen, giving light to those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death.

The Lord will guide our feet into the way of peace, having taken away the sin of the world.

Christ will open the kingdom of heaven to all who believe in His name, saying, Come, O blessed of My Father; inherit the kingdom prepared for you.
