Introduction
Principle
The Multi Channel Analyzer is used to analyse voltage pulses proportional to energy as well as to determine pulse rates (intensities) together with detectors for Alpha, Beta or Gamma radiation.
Photon detection is based on interactions between the electromagnetic radiation and the electrons of the detectors. A distinction has to be made between the photoelectric effect, the Compton effect and pair formation. The specific cross-sections for each of these effects are critical in determining the shape of a spectrum and the integral detection probability. They are to a large extent energydependent. The interaction of the , , or radiation with the detector material produces electrical pulses of various amplitudes proportional to the energy loss in the detector. The Multi Channel Analyzer converts these analog pulses to digital values and adds the numerical values in corresponding channels. The resulting energy spectrum represents the probability distribution of the detected radiation as a function of the energy.
Our Multi Channel Analyzer offers the following advantages: No interface required High end physics with modern components for easy set-up Extremely quick set-up and minimum preparation time Easy adjustable resolution from 256 up to 4096 channels per spectrum Excellent reproducibility of the measurement results at the push of a button Works with detectors for Alpha, Beta or Gamma radiation.
