STOCKTON GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB AND HOST SUPERINTENDENT ROB WILLIAMS

The annual meeting and elections for the association will be held on November 4, 2013 at Stockton Golf & C.C. This is an opportunity for our members to hear reports from all the committee members and receive all the information on the association activities. This information is available to our members upon request but the annual meeting is a time that it is made available to you as a member of the Sierra Nevada GCSA.

Superintendent Rob Williams will host our meeting. It is Rob‟s first opportunity to host a SNGCSA meeting since coming to the area in 2002. After working on a PGA Course in England, Rob made the long trek to the Reno area to work as a intern at Montreux Golf & C.C. He worked at several Reno/Tahoe courses including Lahanton before landing the assistant position at Stockton. In 2010 he got his first Superintendent position at Sunnyside

C.C. in Fresno and then when the Stockton job opened in 2012, he jumped at the opportunity Rob is a rising star for our association. He has served as a Board of Director for the last year in addition to acting as the Chapters Voting Delegate at GCSAA. He is seeking the Secretary/Treasurer position for the association this year and looks forward to working his way up the ladder. We look forward to visiting with Rob at his course.

December 13, 2013 Annual Holiday Event Sacramento RiverTrain

Sierra Nevada GCSA An Affiliate Chapter of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America

SACRAMENTO RIVER TRAIN On Friday December 13th we have a special event in store for everyone. The SNGCSA Holiday Event will be held on the Sacramento River Train. Thanks to the hard work of Talley Scully, wife of Mike Scully, and Molly Payne, wife of Jeremy Payne, we will be treated to a very unique evening. The Train will roll through the countryside between West Sacramento

and Woodland. Popular sights include the Sacramento River and the 8000 foot long Fremont Trestle. The train features open-air observation cars, open-air patio bar, high-level dining coach and fun club car. We will board in Woodland, CA, which is 15 minutes from Sacramento. The train ride itself usually lasts about 3 hours and will include hors „d ouerves, wine, dinner, and

entertainment. The train has been ranked one of Sacramento‟s “Best of the City” businesses for 2013. We are very excited to offer this event to our members. We will be limited to the number of people we can have on the trip so you will want to get your reservations in early. It will be a first come first serve event. Look for more information to come.
