Hi! I'm Sierra. A 25-year-old, coastal-grown + disney-obsessed creative residing in Eugene, Oregon where you could find me in a local coffee shop, playing endless amounts of cribbage, or listening to showtunes + classical music.
me to better know my peers. I was on the sidelines with the football team during each win + loss, I attended every band concert, and I sat with peers even during grief. I'm a photographer by trade, but a storyteller by heart.
I like to think that my photography journey began when I was a toddler. Like many first-born children, I grew up with my parents capturing every moment of my life. I spent hours watching home videos and helping my mom capture my younger sibling's life on videotape. At 15, I began taking photos for the high school yearbook staff and interning with a local photographer. What started as a fun hobby quickly progressed into a business by high school graduation. I loved that photography allowed
As a self-proclaimed life-long student, I received my bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Oregon in 2018. I am currently working on a master's in mental health counseling at Western Seminary. I believe that everyone has a story worth telling, a story worth hearing, a story worth capturing, a story worth sharing. I feel immensely grateful that I have the privilege to come alongside you during the most joyous, emotional, and special moments in life.

ENGAGEMEN T
Once you've booked your date, it's time to begin the engagement session planning! The engagement session is the perfect way to showcase your romance to your family and friends, become comfortable infront of the camera, and kick off your new wedding planning season. These images are often used for invitations, wedding websites, save-thedates, signing books, decor, and more! Because of this, I always recommend choosing a location, aesthetic, and feel that represents your relationship best. Whether you are homebodies who want to cozy up over coffee on your couch, adventure partners who want to roadtrip to the coast, or outdoorsy campers who wish to be captured on the gorgeous cascade range, there are endless options to capture your love story in a place that feels the most like "you." OUTFIT INSPIRATION
TIMING
Planning the perfect outfits can be a stressful thing but thankfully we can brainstorm together (and hit up pinterest, am I right?). The outfits you choose should help you to feel your best AND provide comfortability. I love pastels, subtle colors, texture, and accessories like hats, jewelry, cute shoes, etc. I always recommend avoiding too many patterns/designs. If you do wear patterns, I would recommend choosing something like florals or options that don't feel too "busy." For colors/patterns, less is more. And feel to bring up to 3 outfits - often people like to choose at least one dressy outfit and one relaxed jeans outfit, but this is dependent on what style works best for you.
Engagement sessions have a turnaround time of 2-3 weeks, so scheduling your session on the calendar with enough time to design your invites will be important. For those marrying in summer, late fall or early spring is a popular time. If you have a longer engagement, aiming for the summer before the wedding can be dependable for some beautiful sunshine and nature. For the best lighting, I prefer to schedule sessions the last two hours before sundown for that gorgeous golden hour light. Mornings are also great during the summer to avoid super hot weather but keep in mind that this is often an early wake up time to catch the sunrise light! LOCATION Maybe it's the place you first met, your future venue, a first date spot, or the place of the proposal, I always encourage couples to consider if there are any nostalgic locations worth incorporating into your engagement session. See the box below for some Oregon spots I love to shoot at.

FIRST LOOK or DOWN THE AISLE? FIRST LOOK BEFORE THE CEREMON Y The photo timeline we craft for the day of will depend mostly on whether you desire to see each other prior to the ceremony or have a more traditional route of waiting until the ceremony without a glimpse before. Choosing to do a "first look" where the two of you see each other for the first time privately before the ceremony can be a sweet option, especially for those who want a more private moment. One thing I love about a first look is that it allows for us to do the majority of your portraits before guests arrive so that you get to really savor every moment with your guests. Some people wonder if a first look will take away from the magic of seeing each other down the aisle. For some, this may be true. However, many clients tell me that walking down the aisle is still just as special, regardless if part of the day has already been spent together. DOWN THE A ISLE / TR A DITIONA L CEREMON Y While I'm biased as a photographer to encourage the first look, I also completely honor and respect the decision to have a traditional approach of seeing one another at the ceremony for the first time that day. It could be useful to schedule an earlier ceremony time to ensure that you have plenty of time with your guests. Regardless of if we do portraits before or after the ceremony, I recommend setting aside about 1.5 hours for couple portraits, wedding party, and family formals. To save on time, we can also do some portraits before the ceremony (i.e. bride + bridesmaids, groom + groomsmen, etc.)
details
DE L IC AT E When I first arrive and the wedding party is still getting glammed up, I spend 30 or so minutes getting pretty shots of all the things you wear, delicate details, invitation suites, and of course the bling! What I ask is that you have all of the detail items you'd like photographed together and ready for me in a box to ensure that every important detail is captured. Not sure what to set aside? Here are some ideas: SHOES | DRESS | BOUQUETS JEWELRY | TIE | VOWS | RINGS Pro tip? Purchase wooden hangers for your bridesmaids dresses. It's a simple step up from a plastic hanger but it's so much classier. I will bring a few ring boxes and a flat lay but some clients choose to purchase their own ring boxes that fit their wedding colors. (MRS ring boxes are popular for photography but you can also find some cost-effective options on amazon!).

Planning your special day somewhere a little farther than our Oregon backyard? I'm your girl! I've photographed in Italy, London, Zion, and have a huge travel bug. It would be such a dream to photograph you two wherever your hearts desire! In fact, because I love travel so much, I of fer 50% off any package option for some of my dream locations (do you know you want to go somewhere lovely but unsure of where to plan your day? a few location ideas listed below). How it works is that you would pay 50% of a session package, a plane ticket for me to get there, and a place for me to stay the night prior and night of the wedding day. (I'll even crash on a couch, if needed!).
