The challenge was to develop a new designline. We started with the Series 500 and 1500 then the Series 1000 and finally the Series 600. The new design changed from beeing traditional and conform to be strict and timeless.
Kiss your black box In 2000 I read an article in the newspaper where KiSS Technology was mentioned as a Danish producer of DVD player. I thought the journalist got it wrong and I phoned KiSS. Threee days later I was assigned to develop a designline for the new DVD.
After 4 years of collaboration, the marketing manager stated: “Some of your first sketches four years ago is now State-of-Art Design. If only we have followed your advice, we would now have a much stronger Brand. In 2004 KiSS Technology was sold to Linksys which is owned by the American company Cisco.

Beocom 5000
Return On Investment In 1993 I came to Ascom, a Swiss company with more than 12.000 employees and numerous products and services. The Industrial Design Group was merely 3 people. Each one of us was responsible for individual project and the collegues served as consultants, a brilliant set-up.
Previously Ascom calculated with 24 month for development. The design team introduced Integrated Design and we shortend the time of development to 12 month. With a team varying from 10-30 experts, savings was substantial. I was introduced to the software ProEngineer and worked hard to integrate CAD which reduced development from 12 to 9 month and later from 9 to 6 month, truely a great experience.

Xenia CAD-CAM models in POM
Like other designs, the model of Cordless telephone Xenia, with integrated answering maschine was tested by end-users. To me this was a breakthrough, every detail, small or big, was revealed, appearence, shape, colors, weight, edges and corners. Xenia was evaluated as best choise and it won a IF award in 1996.

All round experience From 1990 to 1993 i was employed by Bodum in Switzerland.
At bodum I worked with all the crucial factors for realizing a design: styling, tooling, rapid prototyping, modelling, photography, packaging, state-of-art graphic and 2D CAD software, interiors for shops, stands for fairs, visual merchanising, It was exciting and a great instructive experience.
Service designed to be low cost and with a simple and functional appearence.
Small details - great effect. A simple idea resulted in the reduction of costs of production and sale of the bodum coffeemaker by 20%!
By replacing the two narrow, metal-hoops of the handle with one, only one screw was then needed. Assembly became far easier, simpler and much faster. Even small cuts in production costs can lead to significant cost savings.
