Pairing Beer With Food

Even though pizza, wings and beer is a combination that has appeared on game day food tables seemingly since the dawn of organized sports, the nuances of beer open up the possibility for many other food-beverage combinations. Just as wine can complement a variety of different foods when the right combination of flavors is presented, so, too, can one’s

favorite brew.

Craft brewers have opened the public’s eyes to a much wider array of beer styles than may be available at the local liquor store or supermarket. Below you can find some suggestions for beer and food pairings, courtesy of the Brewers Association.

This is All You Need For a Memorable Night Out

Anight out can be a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life. In fact, taking a break and heading out with friends can give people a sense of belonging and boost those feel-good neurotransmitters that keep us feeling happy. According to a 2019 study found in PLOS One, an open access mega journal published by the Public Library of Science, social networks can influence health-related behaviors and have a positive impact on stress, attitude and self-assessed health perceptions. Human connection is at the core of what most people need to live healthy, satisfying lives. Therefore, regular nights out can provide a chance to laugh, let off steam and connect with others. Here are some ways to have memorable nights out with others.

Send Invitations

It pays to give people ample notice of an upcoming evening out so they can plan their schedules accordingly. Waiting until the last minute to see if people want to hang can diminish turnout. Send a text around a week or two in advance to lock down the date and time. Better yet, make it a regular event, such as the last Thursday of each month.

Don’t Hype Things Up

Labeling a night as the Òbest night everÓ or a Òparty to rememberÓ can quickly tamp down the fun in a flash. It’s best to let the fun develop organically rather than putting a bunch of labels or expectations on the event.

Have an Activity in Mind

Certainly there are some friend groups that simply go on impromptu

bar crawls and make magic along the way. But developing a general framework of what’s to transpire can help. Identify an activity and go with it, such as a themed club night to dress up and listen to some different music. There are many options for theme nights, including 70s, 80s or 90s, as well as musical theater or movies, or specific genres of music.

Add a Touch of Adventure

Experiences with perceived risk or adversity can elevate the sense of enjoyment and camaraderie. While no one is condoning doing something illegal or dangerous, incorporating a bit of adventure into the night can bring about growth and make the experience worth talking about in the future. This may be a reason why escape rooms have grown in popular-

ity. One idea is to explore a new city or town and let other tourists suggest places to visit. Don’t stay in one place too long so the adventure keeps evolving.

Designated Drivers

Adults may want to imbibe during a night out, and the safest way to avoid driving under the influence is to let a rideshare service or taxi trans-

American Wheat Ale Choose this beer to go with very light foods like salads and sushi. It’s generally too light for dessert, but might work with fresh fruit.

Tips on How to Throw a Successful Restaurant Party

People who love to entertain but don’t have the space to do so at home often take their love of hosting to nearby restaurants. While much of the work on the day of the party is likely to be performed by restaurant staff, hosting a gathering at a local establishment has its challenges, particularly in regard to planning. It’s easy to focus solely on the cost of hosting a restaurant party, as that’s likely to be the foremost consideration for hosts. And it’s wise for hosts to develop a budget for their parties while also considering other ways to make their get-togethers successful. include room rental, food and beverages, security deposit, insurance needs, valet parking, taxes/gratuities, and other add-ons. These add-ons can include plating fees for cakes made off-premises or corkage fees for host-supplied wine.

Explore Entertainment

Mingling and conversation are part of restaurant parties, but hosts can facilitate even more guest interaction by planning entertainment for the

party. Discuss with the venue whether hired musicians or other entertainers are permissible. Something as low-key as a table-side sleight-ofhand magician or a tarot card reader who can offer psychic intrigue may be fun.

Personalize the Menu and Space

Decorate the venue within reason,

and abide by the rules of the house. Decorations may include festive balloons, ribbons or chair covers or colorful flowers or centerpieces, and take-aways for guests.

Discover if you can work with the chef to curate a special menu. This helps the kitchen staff immensely because they’ll only have a set number of dishes to prepare rather than

having to make foods off the larger menu all at once, says the food, home and wellness site MyDomaine. Family-style appetizers also are effective. Print out custom menus with the event title on top, or ask if the restaurant can make them.

Decide on Bar Service

Alcoholic refreshments can quickly consume a budget, so frugal hosts might need to reign in expenses in the this department. Wine and spirits can be expensive if they’re not included in the restaurants price-fixed party package. It’s perfectly acceptable to offer some carafes of wine or pitchers of beer on the table and ask guests to pay for their own specialized drinks.

If you do not opt for a full open bars, ask the wait staff explain to guests what is and isn’t included before they order.

Make Parking Accessible

Selecting a venue with on-site parking or valet service can make things more convenient for guests.

A few simple strategies can help hosts the navigate the process of hosting parties at restaurants. 

Keeping Up with All the Latest Kitchen Trends

If you’re considering a kitchen renovation, you’ve probably heard cautions about avoiding overly trendy designs that can diminish your home’s value and limit its appeal to future buyers. That’s sound advice, but many of this year’s trends are relatively neutral and have longterm staying power.

Kitchen upgrades are typically all about making practical updates to meet the needs of a family. The key to smart design is incorporating functional elements a family requires while striking a balance between style and trends that quickly become outdated.

Before you dive into a kitchen project, consider these on-trend design recommendations from the experts at Wellborn Cabinet.

Add Health-Focused Features

As the hub of nutrition, it’s no surprise wellness design features are making their way into the kitchen. Some examples include appliances with air frying or steaming features, and double ovens are appearing in more homes, making home meals for the family easier to manage. Also look for technology that simplifies meal planning and managing your pantry inventory, as well as features that regulate food storage temperatures more precisely, including during power outages.

Shift Back to Wood Stains

Painted cabinets had their moment, but the latest designs are revealing a movement back toward warm wood grains, specifically oak. As trends continue to shift toward embracing natural elements, as well as exploring diverse color palettes, cabinet manufacturers are constantly innovating to meet the demands of consumers and design professionals alike.

To elevate contemporary cabinetry design, Wellborn Cabinet introduced captivating finishes that celebrate natural materials and textures. Inspired by the highly desired white oak at a more accessible price point, Boardwalk offers a breath of fresh air, allowing the unique oak wood grain to take center stage. The striking finish of Peppermill introduces a versatile darker brown hue with a subtle gray undertone, adding depth, dimension and sophis-

tication. If you’re not quite ready to fully embrace natural wood tones, Alabaster may be a perfect alternative; this hue provides the timeless elegance of neutral white.

Dedicate Space for Beverages

Food prep may be a mainstay in functional kitchen design, but a growing number of homeowners are calling beverages a close second with the addition of built-in coffee bars or smoothie stations and specialized storage for beer and wine. Countertop or supplementary nugget ice makers are another example of trending kitchen accessories that reinforce a growing focus on beverages for all occasions.

Go for Contemporary Cabinetry

Your kitchen’s cabinet doors play an important role in defining your design aesthetic. Consider Wellborn’s wide variety of door styles, several of which have been redesigned to support the trend toward a simpler, smaller rail that’s in favor among designers and homeowners alike. With softer, more up-to-date appearances, they feature eased profiles to produce simple, straight, clean appearances. Options like Breckenridge and Ridgebrook offer updates to the modified shaker style with a clean, modern, less clunky aesthetic. Made of quality, sol-

id wood, they feature a reversed raised center panel to coordinate with a variety of design styles.

Embrace the Middle Ground

Kitchen islands are hardly a new design element, but an increasing number of homeowners are making them a major focus of their renovations. A kitchen trends study by Houzz revealed 42% of homeowners are opting for islands that are 7 feet long or more. That’s extra prep space, but also more room for casual seating or socializing while hosting. Also gaining popularity are double islands for double the workspace.

Skip Bland Backsplash Tile

The wall space between your countertops and upper cabinets may not amount to much, but it’s a sure place to make a style statement. This year’s designers are saying farewell to stark white subway tile backsplashes. Instead, nature- and earth-inspired tones are trending. You can still use subway tile but consider a variation from the traditional stacked design. Texture is another option for modernizing your backsplash; think handcrafted tiles or earthy textures but take care to avoid overly busy patterns.

Brent’s Voted Best Carpet and Flooring Store for 23 years!

Thinking about buying new flooring?

Only one flooring store has been voted #1 in the Signal’s “Best Of” readers’ choice awards nearly every time it has ever been run.  Brent’s Carpet One has been known for its service and quality since Brent Griffiths founded the company in 1979.  Brent was the main salesperson and ran the company for more than 30 years.  While he retired a number of years ago, he is doing well and made sure to pass his passion for flooring and his penchant for integrity to his son Ben, along with the day to day of running the family store.

We asked Ben the hardest thing about shopping for flooring.  “Most people don’t buy flooring very often, and a lot of the information you can find on the internet is flawed or biased” he said.  “The most important part of shopping for flooring is learning what quality floor is right for your situation.  The best way to do that is finding a company you can trust to give you honest information”.  He went on to explain that durability goes hand in hand with quality, and if you take the extra time to learn what will hold up in your home, it can make a world of difference in how long your floor lasts.

“Every store has a reputation not just for their service level, but also for the products they sell.  While some stores push lower cost and quality product for easier, cheaper sales, it reflects poorly on the store

when customers have to readdress flooring in 5 years instead of 15-20.

Brent’s Carpet One doesn’t just talk about quality; they have warranties that are the most comprehensive in the business.  Their “Beautiful Guarantee” is unique in the industry.  Flooring products that are labeled as a part of their “Medal Warranty System” come with the following language: “…our guarantee that if you don’t love your new floor, we’ll replace it for free.”  They also are proud to offer lifetime warranties on labor, instead of the typical one

year labor warrantee offered in the industry. When asked about why their warranties were so different, Ben responded, “Brent’s is part of the largest specialty flooring cooperative in the world.  We are well known because we approach flooring differently.”  We asked him why that matters and he said, “It is the best of both worlds.  Customers get the family-owned home town service they need, along with nationally negotiated prices and the clout of an international organization.” 

CBC Cleaning & Construction

CBC Cleaning & Construction has been proudly serving the SCV and Los Angeles County since 1978. CBC was founded by Gordon and Debbie Glasnow. It has been a pleasure serving SCV and giving back to our wonderful community throughout the years and after 40 years it was time to pass the reins over to a new management team to take CBC to its next stage and in 2021 Gene and Veronika Kucherov of Scope Environmental were the right team for the job.

We have incredible staff that have been with CBC for as long as 35 years!! Since Gordon and Debbie began spending more time away from the office things are being run the same way and sometimes even a bit better, but please don’t tell them, CBC Cleaning and Construction continues to provide the same great service to all its clients both existing and brand new.

The company has experienced significant growth in the past 2 years and will continue to work hard on completely satisfying each and every client in order to become the best cleaning and restoration company in the SCV. This merger made us better, and our client love that. We continue to provide the same excellent service, with the same awesome office staff, talented technicians, and the same convenient office location! Nothing has changed- except we are bigger and can respond faster to all your cleaning, and restoration needs. Okay, so we must admit that this also allows Gordon and Debbie to have more play time to enjoy their “golden years” while still working part time! Thank you SCV for 40 great years! Here’s to 40 more!

Signs Your Home Exterior May Need Updating

Renovations are a great way for homeowners to reshape their homes. Some may aspire to renovate so their home is more reflective of their personal taste, while others may do so in an effort to make their homes better align with modern styles and sensibilities. Regardless of why a homeowner chooses to renovate, the need to do so is often evident to the naked eye, especially when the time comes to update home exteriors.

Curb appeal is often discussed in regard to the effects it can have when selling a home. But curb appeal is equally important for homeowners who aren’t putting their homes on the market. A well-maintained, aesthetically appealing home is a source of pride, while a home with fading curb appeal can make homeowners feel a little sheepish. Homeowners who want their homes to maintain their curb appeal can look for signs that it’s time to update their home exteriors.

Curling Shingles

The roof may not be the first thing people think of when pondering curb appeal, but a damaged roof can contribute to problems that ultimately affect the exterior and interior of the home. Multiple curling shingles indicate it’s time to replace the roof. The sight of curling shingles is not pretty, but the larger issue in such instances is the potential for

costly water damage when water gets in through the affected shingles.

Dated Entry Door

Many home improvement experts insist they can determine when a home was built or most recently renovated simply by looking at the front door. Steel and glass doors are popular in modern homes, so homeowners with front doors with ornate designs and oval glass inserts can likely benefit from an upgrade to their entryway. A modern front door can make a statement and real estate experts note how popular updated front doors are among buyers.

Unsightly Landscaping

It’s not only the physical components of the home that may suggest an update is necessary. Homeowners without a green thumb may have exterior landscaping that has seen better days. If a spring

or summer day spent tending to your landscaping is not your ideal weekend pastime, then consider replacing unsightly landscaping with low-maintenance plants or hardscaping. These alternatives to more needy plants can create curb appeal without requiring any extra work for homeowners.

Cracked Driveways/Walkways

If the driveway looks like a busy road at the end of snow plowing season, chances are that’s adversely affecting the impression people have of your home. In addition, cracked walkways indicate a need for renovations, as these areas are front and center when welcoming guests.

Updating a home’s exterior can restore curb appeal and help homeowners feel better about their properties. (MC) 

A Royal Suite

ARoyal Suite Home Furnishings Celebrates 45 Years in Santa Clarita

If you or family members lived in the Santa Clarita Valley in the ‘80s, there’s a good chance that they made a very unique purchase from A Royal Suite Home Furnishings that decade — a waterbed.

“Waterbeds were all the rage when we first opened,” says owner Norb Moniz. “Now, our customers are much more interested in sleep solutions like memory foam and brands like Tempur-Pedic and Restonic.”

What hasn’t changed is the commitment the A Royal Suite team makes to customer satisfaction. “We don’t just sell furniture — we build relationships for life,” says Moniz. “There’s a reason we get so many clients in their mid 20s coming in to buy their first sofa. It’s because their parents and grandparents sent them in. They say, ‘My dad told me that you’d take care of me,’ and we do. We have a massive selection that fits every design taste and our customer service is unparalleled.”

It’s this philosophy and practice that has drawn national attention to A Roy-

al Suite Home Furnishings. The company, which boasts two other locations in Oxnard and Palmdale, was recently recognized as a Retailer of the Year finalist by the Home Furnishings Association, one of the most coveted and influential recognitions for retailers in the furniture industry. The 16 national finalists, which ranged from large, national chains to local, family-owned retailers like A Royal Suite, were nominated by their peers, manufacturers, vendors and furniture reps.

Sharron Bradley, CEO of the HFA, said many of the qualities of a successful furniture store are on display every day at A Royal Suite Home Furnishings in Santa Clarita. “Here’s a store that creates a unique, personalized shopping experience and is an integral part of its community. They’re wonderful models for our industry.”

A Royal Suite Home Furnishings recently had a floor-to-ceiling remodel directed by industry guru Connie Post. “We’re growing, not going,” says Moniz, “and we’re excited to invest in elevating the client experience even further.”

Reasons to Replace Aging Windows

indows in a home are easy to take for granted. Unless windows are showing signs of wear and tear or so dirty that it’s hard to see through them, it’s easy for them to go unnoticed. However, replacement windows can add value to a home and even save homeowners a substantial amount of money.

The following are three great reasons for homeowners to consider upgrading their windows today. New windows help reduce carbon footprint. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reports that replacing single-pane windows with ENERGY STAR¨ certified windows can help to reduce CO2 emissions by a significant margin..

New windows can brighten a home. Natural light brightens a room and can make it appear larger. Homeowners who have grown accustomed to old windows may not realize how little light such windows let into their homes. New

windows brighten the home and the natural light that pours in on a cold day can help heat the home at the same time.

New windows cut down on noise. Window manufacturers are always on the lookout for ways to produce windows that make homes more comfortable. Those who currently have single-pane windows may be astonished by the difference in outside noise levels when upgrading to triple-glazed windows, which contain a third layer of glass. That third layer of glass significantly reduces noise levels, making triple-glaze windows ideal for homes on busy streets or those with lots of foot traffic.

Replacement windows pay numerous dividends. Homeowners can reap these rewards and others by replacing aging windows. (MC) 

Reduce Your Risk of Melanoma

Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers around the world. No one is immune to skin cancer, although those with lighter skin colors are at higher risk.

Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer, according to the Mayo Clinic. Melanoma develops in the cells that produce melanin. While the exact causes of melanoma aren’t entirely clear, exposure to ultraviolet radiation greatly increases risk of the disease.

Melanoma can develop anywhere on the body, but it is most commonly found on areas that have had significant exposure to the sun, such as the back, legs, arms, and face. It also can form in the eyes. The American Skin Cancer Society says that there is no definitive way to prevent melanoma, but the following are six ways individuals can lower their risk.

Limit UV exposure The most important step to take is to protect yourself from UV rays, which includes both natural sunlight and light from tanning beds. Staying in the shade or indoors during peak hours of sunlight can limit UV exposure.

Use sunscreen every day Choose a formula that will screen out both UVA and UVB rays. Apply about two tablespoons of the product at each application. Reapply sunscreen every

Heller Plastic Surgery

r. Justin Heller, a Valencia-based Board-certified plastic surgeon has been making people in the Santa Clarita Valley feel better about their self-image for years with his surgical skills, was once again honored by the community for his work.

Heller was recognized by Santa Clarita Valley residents as the best place for cosmetic surgery once again for 2024, which means a lot for the Yale-trained surgeon who loves calling Santa Clarita his home. Heller runs a family business in Santa Clarita with his wife, Ana, who manages Heller’s office.

“It’s tremendously flattering,” Heller said upon learning he was once again recognized by his neighbors for his work. “And it means a lot simply because I continuously work to always make sure that we’re doing better, and bringing the best kind of results to everyone that we can. I go and do house calls on patients, I make sure to see everybody, and that stems from a desire to make sure the patients are comfortable and know that I’m always

two hours, even more regularly if you will be swimming or sweating a lot.

there for them. To get recognized for all the efforts I do throughout the year is flattering and really nice.”

Heller also felt it was a special recognition to him because he cares a lot about his hometown and giving back, which he does through his work with nonprofits like Smile Train, an international charity that provides facial, cleft lip and palate surgery to children in need, or Circle of Hope, which he’s supported by performing reconstructive breast surgeries for cancer survivors. 

Avoid sunlamps and tanning beds Tanning beds and sunlamps are not safer forms of UV exposure. They provide more exposure to UV radiation over a shorter period of time, potentially making them quite dangerous.

Schedule routine skin exams Visit a dermatologist to get a full-body skin exam. A qualified doctor can identify moles or other skin abnormalities that may prove problematic. Always let a doctor know if moles change size or shape. Normal moles are generally a uniform color and shape. Unusual moles are asymmetrical in shape with color changes and irregular border.

Wear large or wrap-around sunglasses These types of sunglasses will protect the eyes and the sensitive skin around the eyes.

Learn your family history Healthgrades says some types of melanoma cancer genes are passed from one generation to another. Find out if you can get gene testing if you have several family members with melanoma or a family member who had melanoma more than once. Melanoma is a potentially life-threatening form of skin cancer, though there are various ways to reduce your risk for the disease. (MC) 

What Does It Mean To Put Patients First At Go Dental?

At Go Dental, we put our patients first in everything that we do. A seemingly simple concept—but what does it mean to make your patients the priority?

This means that we value the feedback that our patients provide—and that feedback helps us to continuously improve upon our processes and provide a patient experience that is second to none. It is our patients’ reviews that help us examine all steps of the treatment process—from patients’ very first appointments with us to our approach to treatment and everything in between—and determine how we can best serve our patients.

We understand that going to the dentist can make many patients feel anxious. Through patient feedback, we have been able to provide an environment that is calm, friendly, comfortable and respectful. Some of the ways in which we maintain this standard of excellence are by using the latest dental technology, offering

accommodations for patients with special needs, and even having Gracie, our resident therapy dog, to make patients feel right at home.

How to Protect Your Hearing For the Long Haul

We are honored to have been voted the Dental Office Of The Year for the 23rd Annual “Best Of” Santa Clarita Valley—and while being recognized by The Signal is an honor, it’s our patients’ opinions that matter the most to us! As we look to the future, we want to sincerely thank our patients for their support and for their wonderful reviews, without which, Go Dental would not be where it is today. We look forward to continuing to put our patients first and helping the Valencia community feel confident about their dental health.

To contact our dental team, you can call us all at (661) 257-0880 or visit www.thedentist.com. 

Aging has long been associated with hearing loss, and that association is not unwarranted. The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders notes that age-related hearing loss can arise from changes in the inner ear as the body ages. However, hearing loss can affect people of all ages, including the very young.

Noise-induced hearing loss, or NIHL, can affect people of all ages. In fact, a 2011-12 study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that as many as 40 million adults in the United States have some degree of hearing loss related to exposure to loud noise. Another study published in 2011 in the journal Pediatrics found that as many as 17 percent of adolescents between the ages of 12 and 19 had features of their hearing suggestive of NIHL.

No single activity can explain the prevalence of NIHL among adolescents and adults under 70. However, there are steps everyone can take to protect their hearing and reduce their risk for NIHL.

Switch From Earbuds to Over-the-Ear Headphones

The Cleveland Clinic notes that over-the-ear headphones encase the ear and are often more effective at canceling outside noise. Why is that important? If outside noise is effectively canceled out, wearers won’t

have to turn up the volume on their headphones in order to hear their music. Listening at lower volumes is a great way to protect your hearing and prevent NIHL.

Recognize that others shouldn’t hear what’s coming through your headphones. Audiologist Sharon A. Sandridge, Ph.D. of the Head and Neck Institute at the Cleveland Clinic notes that if people standing at arm’s length can hear the music coming from an individual’s headphones or earbud, then the volume levels on that person’s devices are too loud.

Purchase Activity-Specific Headphones, Earplugs 0r Earmuffs

Hardware stores and sporting goods stores sell activity-specific headphones, earplugs and earmuffs that can be utilized when engaging in activities like yard work or hunting. Such products are often designed to block out noises from backpack leaf blowers and hunting rifles, and could therefore prove more protective of users’ hearing than over-the-ear headphones designed for listening to music.

Age-related hearing loss may not be preventable. However, individuals can protect themselves from NIHL, and efforts to do just that should begin at a young age and continue throughout adulthood. (MC) 

What to Expect at an Eye Exam

Regular eye examinations are important components of a personal health regimen. Visiting an eye doctor can alert a person to potential vision impairments, and certain symptoms that show up in the eyes could be indicative of notable health problems. The American Academy of Ophthalmology says everything from brain tumors to aneurysms to high cholesterol can be detected in the eyes.

For those who do not have any apparent vision problems, most doctors recommend following a chart based on age. The insurance experts at Aetna suggest the following age-based intervals:

• Ages 20 to 39: Every five years

• Ages 40 to 54: Every two to four years

• Ages 55 to 64: Every one to three years

• Ages 65 and up: Every one to two years

Individuals who wear glasses or

contact lenses, have a family history of eye disease, or have a chronic condition that puts them at risk for eye disease, like diabetes, should get vision exams more frequently. Despite the significance of eye exams, many people do not visit an eye doctor until something is amiss with their vision or eyes. Perhaps individuals would be inclined to visit the eye doctor more frequently if they knew what to expect during an exam. Here’s what people can expect the next time they step into a private eye doctor’s office or a vision center, courtesy of The Cleveland Clinic and Warby Parker.

Visual acuity The eye doctor will ask you to read an eye chart while looking through a device called a phoropter. This device has several lenses that can be adjusted to help you see better and find the right corrective lens prescription.

Visual field The doctor will check peripheral vision by holding up a

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s Roberta G. Veloz Cardiac Cath Lab Celebrates Milestone

Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital’s Roberta G. Veloz Cardiac Cath Lab team recently performed its 100th Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedure, just a little over three years after completing its first TAVR procedure.

Henry Mayo Structural Heart Director Abhi Sinha, MD, said, “I think that it is a big milestone not just for Henry Mayo’s Structural Heart Program but also for the entire community. What’s more important than the numbers is that our outcomes have been excellent so far. We are in the top 90th percentile in the country for many important metrics.”

What is TAVR?

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a procedure used to replace a narrowed aortic valve that does not fully open. The aortic valve sits between the left lower heart chamber and the body’s main artery. When this valve becomes narrowed, it is known as aortic valve stenosis, which restricts or slows the flow of blood from the heart to the body.

TAVR is a minimally invasive procedure, involving smaller incisions compared to traditional open-heart valve surgery. It is often considered for individuals who are not suitable candidates for conventional heart surgery to replace the aortic valve. TAVR can effectively alleviate symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, and other issues associated with aortic valve stenosis.

Soft Tissue Injuries and How PT Can Benefit Recovery

Soft tissue injuries are more common than people may realize. In fact, anyone with an undiagnosed pain in his or her body may be suffering from a soft tissue injury.

According to Delaware Integrative Healthcare, bone injuries garner significant attention because broken bones and fractures can be very serious. But soft tissue injuries, when left untreated, also can be troublesome and jeopardize individuals’ athletic pursuits.

Verywell Health defines soft tissue injuries as trauma to any muscle, skin, tendon, or ligament in the body. Injuries may result from overuse or acute trauma, which is an external force applied to the body. Common examples of soft tissue injuries are lacerations, abrasions, contusions, sprains/strains, bursitis, and tendinitis.

Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. R.I.C.E. is widely recommended for these types of injuries. However, more serious soft tissue injuries may take extended time to heal. Some of these injuries also may lead to permanent changes in muscles, tendons and ligaments, causing certain body parts to cease functioning how they used to. That may be the case with Grade 2 (moderate) or Grade 3 (severe) injuries. Further medical attention may be needed and physical therapy may be prescribed.

Strains are injuries to muscles or tendons and sprains are injuries to ligaments, which are elastic bands of tissue that connect and stabilize bones. Both strains and sprains are common soft tissue injuries. Bursitis and tendinitis also are common. Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursa, a fluid-filled sac that provides a cushion between the bones and muscles or tendons. Tendinitis is an inflammation of the tendons, which connect muscles to bones.

Many minor (Grade 1) soft tissue injuries that involve muscles, tendons and ligaments may heal when injured persons follow the protocol known as R.I.C.E., which is an acronym for

The Ace Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Institute says soft tissue injuries account for most of the injuries that outpatient physical therapists treat. A therapist will analyze the type of injury and the pain or impairment it is causing to develop a rehabilitation program. Physical therapists often perform various treatments geared toward reducing swelling and inflammation. Manual therapies to help restore normal motion also are part of soft tissue treatment plans. Stretching and strengthening exercises may be incorporated to improve endurance and repair soft tissue. Orthotic therapy may be needed to correct certain imbalances, advises Algonquin Chiropractic Center. Physical therapists also can educate patients about how to strengthen the body to help reduce risk for future injuries.

Soft tissue injuries are common and usually can resolve with rest. Guided physical therapy may be prescribed for more severe cases. (MC) 

Laser-Assisted Cataract Surgery!

As the decades progress, new medical technology emerges that paves the way for increased efficiency, better predictability, and improved safety when it comes to tedious procedures and unique cases. The Ziemer FEMTO LDV Z8 laser is the latest technology that we have introduced to Helm Vision Group. This laser has transformed our LASIK laser vision correction procedures to be completely blade free and assists us with cataract procedures, as well.

Our primary, initial reason for acquiring the Ziemer FEMTO LDV Z8 laser was to perform part of the procedure for LASIK laser vision correction, replacing the microkeratome blade. This versatile laser, however, is also capable of performing laser-assisted cataract surgery so we began using it for this purpose. What we have discovered through its use has been surprising! I was surprised to find that cataract surgery was made easier for me as a surgeon. The precision of the laser-made incisions in the cornea and in the lens capsule are amazing.

The most important help provided by the laser though, is that it softens the cataract by lasering it into smaller pieces. That makes it so that it requires less ultrasound energy to remove it. This results in easier surgery

and a faster recovery. For some cataracts that are more advanced, femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery truly is a safer procedure.

Safety is a priority at Helm Vision Group. We have a long history of delivering outstanding visual outcomes to our patients. The addition of the Ziemer FEMTO LVD Z8 laser adds to our ability to provide additional measures of safety and precision.

At Helm Vision Group we are committed to providing the highest technology available to provide our patients with the best care. Our offerings match what is available at only the finest institutions in the country. If your vision has notably declined and you know that you have cataracts or would like to find out if you have them, call our office at 661-259-3937 to schedule a consultation. There are many causes of blurry vision but there are many cures!

We look forward to serving you! 

“Kaiser Permanente is committed to providing the most compassionate and advanced high-quality maternity care at all of our hospitals, because we understand how special and important this time is for expectant mothers,” said Michelle Gaskill-Hames, president, Kaiser Permanente Southern California and Hawaii, Health Plan and Hospitals. “We’re committed

to always go above and beyond the call of duty to meet the needs of our maternity patients.”

High-quality maternity care, provided from pregnancy through birth and postpartum, is key to the longterm health of newborns and women who give birth.

“This recognition is a testament to the complete dedication of our physicians and staff when it comes to meeting and exceeding the health care needs of our maternity patients,” said Dr. Ramin Davidoff, executive medical director for the Southern California and Hawaii Permanente Medical Groups. “This prestigious recognition spotlights our commitment to providing the best maternity care possible.”

Newsweek’s ranking is based on

three pillars: Nationwide Online Survey: Health care professionals and hospital managers with knowledge about maternity processes, e.g., neonatal, and perinatal doctors, nurses, and midwives were asked to recommend leading maternity hospitals in the U.S. Patient Experience Survey: Survey of the overall patient experience in the hospital.

A special congratulations to all our ‘Best Of’ repeat winners!

Hospital Quality Metrics: Indicators relevant to maternity care were considered.

Tips to Take Care of Your Skin

As the body’s largest organ, skin is of the utmost importance to overall health. The skin protects against germs, regulates body temperature and enables tactile sensations, says the Cleveland Clinic. Despite those vital functions, skin is easily overlooked in health care regimens.

Even though the skin is susceptible to aging just like every other part of the body, there are steps everyone can take to maintain healthy skin throughout their lifetimes. Dermatologists, including those from the American Academy of Dermatology, share tips on how to care for and protect the skin so it looks beautiful and functions properly.

Use Sun Protection

in the skin and can damage collagen and elastin, the fibers that give skin its elasticity and strength.

Avoid an Overload of Products

Many dermatologists suggest their patients stick to the basics daily, which includes a mild cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. Drinking plenty of water also helps the skin. Exfoliating the skin once a week can help remove dead skin cells, but don’t overdo it, which can lead to excess oil production and breakouts.

Select the Right Products For Your Skin Type

Thank you for Voting

If you are looking for a Podiatrist in Valencia, we welcome you to our practice.

Choose products that pertain to your skin type, which may be sensitive, normal, dry, oily, or a combination thereof.

One of the key ways to care for the skin is to protect it from the sun. Over time, sun exposure can cause age spots, wrinkles and elevate the risk for skin cancer. Always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher. Apply generously and be sure to reapply every two hours or more if you will be swimming or perspiring.

Stay Away From Tanning Beds

People mistakenly think that using tanning beds is safer than sitting out in the sun. However, tanning beds emit harmful UV radiation that can cause skin cancer just like the sun. The AAD says one indoor tanning session can increase the risk of developing melanoma by 20 percent. Use self-tanning products instead for a golden glow.

Quit Smoking or Never Begin

Smoking makes the skin look older and contributes to wrinkles. Smoking narrows the tiny blood vessels in the outermost layers of the skin, decreasing blood flow to the skin and making the skin more pale, says the Mayo Clinic. Smoking also depletes oxygen

Don’t Forget the Lips

Many people treat their entire faces but then do not address the skin on their lips. Skin cancer can form on the lips, so use a lip balm that has an SPF of 30 or higher. Petroleum jelly can add moisture to the lips if they feel dry.

Visit a Dermatologist

A dermatologist is an expert in many conditions of the skin, hair and nails. He or she can perform an annual examination to look at the entire body and determine the health of skin, and identify any moles or spots that may be of concern.

Check Your Own Kkin

People are advised to pay attention to their skin and look regularly for new spots; spots that are different from other spots on the body; moles that itch, bleed or change color; and any other things that seem not quite right.

Taking care of the skin throughout the years can help a person look and feel his or her best. (MC) 

1. Keep your mind sharp by avoiding certain foods.

a. Refined carbohydrates (white bread, white rice, cakes). Instead, eat multigrain bread, brown rice, oatmeal, spinach, Brussels sprouts, lentils, walnuts.

b. Cut down on saturated fats (fried foods). Grill, bake, steam instead.

c. Bypass ultra-processed foods (chips, sausage, sodas).

2. To alleviate depression, get sun exposure as early in the morning as possible and avoid electronic devices’ blue light in the evenings.

3. Walk. By reaching for 10,000 steps daily you can decrease cardiovascular events such as strokes and heart attacks.

4. To better regulate blood sugars after meals, use a standing desk instead of

sitting at a desk.

5. Water. Be on guard of dehydration. Eight cups of 8-ounce water will energize you…not to mention, it will add to your daily steps as you dash to the bathroom! Be cautious if you have congestive heart failure.

6. Be thankful. It will improve your sleep, lower your blood pressure, lessen your pain, and decrease the inflammation in your body.

7. If you long to decrease levels of chronic stress and slow your cellular aging, read the book that gives life, the Bible! In a world that’s ripping apart at the seams, true hope is not found in education, politics, money, possessions, or positions. It is found in Jesus Christ. His Word gives life to those who find it and health to the whole body…without side effect or expiration dates! 

Kathy Bost

Receiving the 2024 Santa Clarita Valley’s Best Realtor is a moment of humbleness and gratitude. It’s a testament to the journey I’ve been on for 31 years, filled with connections, stories, and above all, homes.

Every home tells a story, and I’ve had the privilege to be in many tales. It’s these interactions that have been the lifeblood of my career and made every moment fulfilling. To me, real estate hasn’t been just about properties—it’s people, their dreams, and the joy of helping them realize those dreams.

The relationships fostered over the years have enriched my journey, making it more than a career. They’ve provided me with a wealth of experience and learning far greater than any accolade. However, being recognized by my own community—the place I love and work—is a unique and special honor.

I want to share appreciation and heartfelt thanks to my phenomenal team. Their dedication, tenacity, and unwavering commitment are

the backbone of our success. This award is as much theirs as mine, and I couldn’t be prouder of the work we’ve achieved together.

I’m filled with anticipation for the future. Each sunrise brings opportunities and challenges, I commit to you to serve with the same zeal and dedication I always have.

Thank you, Santa Clarita, for your enduring trust and support. I promise to continue serving with the same personal touch and commitment that defined my career over the last three decades. Thank you for this honor and thank you for making my work so incredibly rewarding.

Feel free to call directly with any real estate related questions at (661) 803-3114 or visit online at KathyBost. com.

Sincerely, Kathy Bost 

Maslow’s before Bloom’s (basic human needs before academic needs) has driven the school district since January of 2020 and remains the bedrock of District culture. SUSD continues focusing on the wellness of all members of the organization. The practices implemented across the district are designed to wrap students in the security of physical and social-emotional wellness. In 2022, SUSD participated in the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthiest Schools program. Cedarcreek Elementary and West Creek Academy were recognized as All-Star schools (recognition in all nine areas for the award program). Excellence in Elementary Education is the mission of SUSD. We have a targeted focus on student learning to ensure our students are making progress despite the challenges of the last few years. Our committed teacher, classified, and administrative teams systematically work to grow our students so the children can achieve more. We have seen consistent increases in our mathematics achievement and we were recognized as one of only four California school districts to see progress in that subject at the end of the pandemic. We are energized by the progress we have made and use that energy as we reach towards closing the achievement and opportunity gaps for our students. Thank you to the Saugus Union School District community for their confidence and trust. Thank you to the Santa Clarita Valley for their support and recognition in 2024. 

Comfort Keepers In-Home Care

Thank you Santa Clarita for voting Comfort Keepers “Best of” In-Home Care for the 14th time!

Caring for members of our community and their families for the last 23-plus years has truly been a privilege! Comfort Keepers is the premier provider of in-home care with over 700 offices across the nation and internationally, but locally owned and operated by Myles McNamara. Our goal is to enable seniors to remain safely in the comfort and privacy of their own homes for as long as possible. Often, all that is needed is a helping hand with daily tasks, including but not limited to, meal preparation, medication monitoring, light housekeeping, laundry, transportation (beauty salon, doctors, etc.), grocery shopping, companionship, assistance with bathing/showering, grooming guidance, and recreational activities.

We are also instrumental in lowering the stress for family members who are juggling their own busy lives and work schedules around attending to a loved one’s needs. Our service provides peace of mind knowing these needs and daily activities are being taken care of. It will allow quality time to be spent with loved ones, rather than attending to chores. If falling is a concern, just knowing someone is with them can make all the difference. Our Comfort Keepers are specially trained for Alzheimer’s and dementia care. Comfort Keepers prides

itself in the quality of our compassionate, bonded and insured caregivers, and our mission to treat our clients like a member of our own family. Although our clients are primarily seniors, our services are available for anyone over the age of 18 experiencing difficulties with daily tasks due to illness or injury.

Believing in giving back to the community we serve, McNamara serves on the Foundation Board at Henry Mayo Hospital, and has served as past President of the SCV Senior Center Foundation, which was the fundraising division of our Santa Clarita Valley Senior Center, other leadership roles on various boards and committees, as well as sponsoring special events throughout the year for our local nonprofit organizations. Comfort Keepers has also made available to the community and the family caregiver, free of charge, our Caregiver Skills Lab that is used to train their own Comfort Keepers. Family members are many times thrust into the role of a family caregiver, but have not had the opportunity to have hands-on training that can help ensure the safety of not only the person be-

ing cared for, but themselves as well. Please call for more information or for a tour.

The Basics of Auto Insurance

Traffic laws are designed to keep everyone on the road as safe as possible. That motivation also is behind laws governing auto insurance, which is required in Canada and the vast majority of American states.

What is auto insurance?

Auto insurance is something that most drivers have but very few, if any, hope to use. According to Insure. com, car insurance is an agreement between the policy holder and an insurance company which protects the individual against financial loss if the vehicle is stolen or involved in an accident. The Insurance Information Institute says auto insurance provides

property, liability and medical coverage. Property coverage covers damage or replacement of the vehicle. Liability coverage is for the policy holder’s legal responsibility to others for bodily injury or property damage. Medical coverage pays for the cost of treating injuries, rehabilitation and sometimes even funeral expenses or lost wages.

Compulsory vs. mandatory coverage

Depending on where a policy holder lives, there are certain coverages that are compulsory, or mandatory coverages that are the minimum amounts required by law. Optional coverages also can be purchased to

Oakmont has been honored as the BEST Assisted Living in the Santa Clarita Valley, according to the 2024 Signal Best of SCV Reader’s Poll. This remarkable achievement was made possible with over 30,000 ballots cast this year.

suit one’s needs. Compulsory coverage may vary based on location, driver’s age, type of vehicle, and type of financing on that vehicle. It is best to discuss coverages with an automotive insurance agent to figure out which types of coverage will be needed and to get a price quote. The six basic kinds of coverage include bodily injury liability, personal injury protection, property damage liability, collision, comprehensive, uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage.

Premiums vary

Insurance typically is sold with deductibles, according to the III. Policy holders may opt for higher deductibles so they can lower their premium costs. Additional factors that will affect the cost of coverage include driver’s age, driving record and location where the vehicle is housed or used. Credit score and gender also may affect premiums. Defensive driving courses and protecting the vehicle with anti-theft devices may help lower premiums.

Auto insurance costs vary by a sig-

nificant amount, so it is a good idea to shop around and compare quotes. Bundling of auto insurance with other policies, such as homeowners insurance or umbrella policies, may help reduce rates.

Getting insurance

To obtain an insurance policy, the agent will need the year, make and model of the vehicle being insured. For the most accurate price quote, the VIN number will be needed.

To buy auto insurance, one needs to be the registered owner of the car. Some states allow dependent and independent drivers to own a car in their own names at age 16 or 17. Some parents opt to combine insurance coverage for their teenagers because the premiums may be cheaper. Teenagers tend to be riskier in the eyes of insurance companies due to their lack of experience and perceived recklessness. Those factors are reflected in premium costs.

Insurance is something every driver should have. Motorists can explore their options to find policies that fit their needs and budgets. 

The Best in Adult Education: Golden Oak Adult School Financing Your Retirement

Older adults hoping to retire this year may have a new factor to consider. Aspiring retirees may have to play it very smart to ensure they can maximize their savings for the long haul.

It’s a one-two punch caused by continuously rising costs of everyday items and a bearish market for bonds — one of the most common hedges retirement plans use to offset stock declines.

Bonds have been suffering historic losses, according to data from Barclays Aggregate Bond Index. The typical rule of thumb used to be to spend no more than 4% of a portfolio’s original value each year to plan for retirement. With no gains or losses, that money would last around 25 years.

However, experts at The American College of Financial Services say that, in today’s economy, 4% and even 3% may be too aggressive. According to Nora Dowd Eisenhower, executive director at the Philadelphia Mayor’s Commission on Aging, higher food prices, longer life expectancies and

higher rents/housing costs often lead to financial challenges for people in retirement. Data from the U.S. Current Population Survey shows a trend in the number of people no longer in retirement. In September 2022, the unretirement rate was 2.6%, up from 2.4% in August. Wealth advisors indicate retirees need to look long and hard at their spending habits, even spending less than their wealth could support. This can help them ride out the ups and downs of the market that affect prices on goods and services. Working with a good financial advisor also can help retirees manage their savings to maximize their money for the years to come. 

Taking care of a vehicle involves more than just maintaining the equipment under the hood. There are a number of steps involved in keeping a car or truck in top form, and that includes regular car washes.

Car washes keep a vehicle shiny and clean, which can help it look good while sitting in the driveway or cruising the highway. However, regular car washes are more than cosmetic.

Protection from the sun A car that is routinely and properly washed and waxed is less vulnerable to damage from the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

Extend the life of paint Dirt and debris can build up on the paint surface and eventually lead to scratches and other damage. Bird droppings and sap can be corrosive. Washing will help remove grime and protect the paint in the process.

Preserve the vehicle’s value Drivers who plan to sell or trade in their vehicles in the future should realize that a well-maintained car can bring in as much as 20 percent more for

above-average condition, according to Kelley Blue Book. Maintaining a clean and shiny vehicle can protect its long-term value.

Improve fuel efficiency Drivers have felt pain in their wallets at the fuel pump in recent years. Dirty cars may be less aerodynamic and less fuel-efficient as a result. Keeping a car clean may improve its fuel efficiency.

Maintain the interior Car washes are not only about the exterior. Keeping a clean and tidy interior can help improve the air quality inside of the vehicle and prolong the life of upholstery, mats and interior components. Car washes should be a routine part of vehicle maintenance. Professional car washes tend to be more eco-friendly than washing a car at home, so drivers are urged investigate their service plans and features. (MC) 

Classic Wine And Food Pairings for Dinner

The renowned writer Ernest Hemingway is credited with saying, “My only regret in life is that I didn’t drink more wine.” Perhaps if the author had a better understanding of pairing wine with food, he would have enjoyed his wine a bit more often?

Unless you’re spending time with a master sommelier or a seasoned oenophile, you’re unlikely to be given a hard time if your wine and food pairings are not perfect. Although there is no need to always pair a bottle with food like an expert Ñ and it’s certainly alright to break the rules if you’re particularly passionate about a specific type of wine — a general knowledge of classic food-and-wine parings can help anyone expand their knowledge and please their palate. And yes, it goes beyond white is for fish and red is for beef. These pairing pointers, courtesy of the experts at Food & Wine, Tasting Table and Wine Folly, can help anyone find the right combination for their dinner table.

Basic Methodologies

As you grow more familiar with wine, you’ll learn why these triedand-true suggestions often work.

• Red wines pair best with bold flavored meats (red meat).

• White wines pair best with light-intensity meats (fish and chicken).

• The wine should have the same flavor intensity of the food.

• The wine should be sweeter than the food.

• The wine should be more acidic than the food.

• It is better to match the wine with the sauce than with the meat.

• Think about whether you want contrasting or congruent pairings. Red wines often create congruent pairings while white, sparkling and Rosé will create contrasting pairings.

Congruent Vversus

Contrasting

Congruent pairings, according to Wine Folly, create balance in the mouth by amplifying shared flavor compounds. For example, earth

wines paired with earthy mushrooms. Contrasting pairings create balance through contrasting flavors. Therefore, a salad with acidity and bitterness may be complemented with a wine that is sweeter and not so acidic, or so may be the case with a fatty, salty food like foie gras. Common Pairings to Try

• Mushrooms, lentils and even salmon go great with reds like Pinot Noir or Dolcetto. These wines are light-bodied but also full of savory appeal.

• Champagne and oysters work because Champagne has a touch of fruity sweetness. This helps it cut through salty foods like oysters or even chips.

• Cabernet, and Bordeaux are ideal with steaks and lamb dishes. The tannins in cabernet will cut through the protein and fat in these red meats, while the fat balances out the rich tannins.

• You’ll need a wine that pops like Sauvignon Blanc, to go with tangy foods, such as grapefruit or scallops. This white wine also can work

with various vinaigrettes or tangy cheeses.

• Chianti is a prized Italian wine made from Sangiovese grapes. High acidity and noticeable tannins will help chianti pair well with high acid foods like those featuring tomato sauces, such as a rich pasta dish. It may take some time to gain experience pairing wine and foods. However, with a little practice, individuals can perfect their wine pairing skills. 

How to Identify a Vehicle That Is the Right Fit

Buying a vehicle is a significant financial investment. It is not a decision to take lightly, especially given the historically high prices of new cars in recent years.

Finding a vehicle that is the perfect fit requires consideration of a host of variables, including personal preference. What is perfect for one individual may not work for another. When the time comes to shop for a new car, people can ask themselves a few questions in an effort to find a vehicle that best suits their needs.

• What are your needs? Are you looking to carpool the kids to and from school or do you want a car for commuting that will not cost you an arm and a leg in fuel? Identifying the main purpose of the vehicle will eliminate certain cars or trucks right off the bat.

• What is your budget? It is a good idea to get a pre-approval loan statement from a financial provider to figure out what you can afford to pay for a vehicle. The popular auto-

motive resource Edmunds says the general rule is the monthly newcar payment should not exceed 15 percent of your monthly take-home pay. Lease payments should be less than 10 percent of monthly takehome pay. Calculate these numbers and potential interest rates prior to shopping for a vehicle.

• What size is best for you? Even though it may seem that SUVs and pickups reign supreme on the road, some drivers prefer smaller vehicles. Figure out how much interior space and cargo room you need. Take the time to sit in different vehicle classes to determine which size fits you best.

• What are your fuel preferences? Today’s vehicles come in electric, unleaded gasoline, diesel, and hybrid options. How the car or truck is powered may be important to you and will help identify the best vehicle for you.

Buying a vehicle requires careful consideration of drivers’ needs, budget and desired features. (MC)

What to Know About Floor-to-Ceiling Windows and Privacy

odern homes showcase many dazzling features, but perhaps none draw as much as instant attention as floor-to-ceiling windows. Often seen in high-rise apartments that boast panoramic city views, floor-to-ceiling windows also are right at home in single-family dwellings.

Homeowners considering floor-to-ceiling windows may have lots of questions. The following rundown can provide some basic information that can help homeowners decide if floor-to-ceiling windows are right for their homes.

Cost

Cost is often the primary consideration when mulling a home renovation, and that’s even more significant as the world confronts the rising costs associated with inflation. The cost of installing floor-to-ceiling windows depends on a host of variables, including how many windows will be needed and where homeowners live. According to Modernize¨, a service that facilitates connections between renovation-minded homeowners and local contractors, a floor-to-ceiling window wall costs somewhere between $700 to $1,600 per linear foot. Framing and glazing will add to those costs. Homeowners considering floor-to-ceiling windows are urged to receive several estimates for the project prior to choosing a contractor.

Lighting and Energy Efficiency

One of the more appealing aspects of floor-toceiling windows is all the natural light they allow in. Of course, all that light also can drive up energy costs on sunny summer days. One way around that is to install energy efficient windows. Such windows include extra insulation to prevent cool air from escaping the home on summer days,

Sunrise Spirits & Food Co

which can reduce the need to lower the thermostat on your air conditioning. A wall of glass also can provide less insulation against the cold. The extra insulation in energy efficient windows also helps keep warm air from escaping a home in the winter. Energy efficient windows may cost more than less efficient alternatives. However, over the long haul, a wall of less efficient floor-to-ceiling windows will likely cost more due to excess energy consumption.

Privacy and Fading

It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the view floor-toceiling windows provide, especially in homes surrounded by serene natural settings like woods or properties that abut waterways. But that view outward also provides a view in, potentially compromising privacy. All that extra exposure to sunlight also can cause fabrics to fade over time. Floor-toceiling blinds and shades can protect homeowners’ privacy and reduce fading on furniture, but this extra feature will add to the final cost of the project. Smart window tinting is another way to improve privacy and reduce fading, but this feature also will drive up the cost.

Floor-to-ceiling windows can be awe-inspiring. Homeowners considering such windows for their homes are urged to do their homework to ensure their homes are well-suited to this unique feature.
