Nelson Receives Inaugural Award
Soror Treda Nelson, Ed.D. , received the inaugural 2022-23 Elementary Principal of the Year Award presented by the South Carolina Alliance of Black School Educators (SCASBE). She was honored at the Annual Scholarship Gala.
SCABSE supports the philosophy that is espoused by the National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE), which is to affirm the inherent worth, dignity, and educability of black people. She was also one of the guest panelists during SCASBE’s winter conference for educators. For the past six years, she has been the principal at a kindergarten-eighth grade elementary/middle school. The school has earned success for personalizing learning for students and closing the achievement gap. Soror Nelson is a Mu Phi Omega Chapter member, where she became a sorority member on January 15, 2006. She has served as basileus, anti-basileus, and historian for the chapter.
