I am a person who cares about social conditions,I have a strong e m o t i o n f o r t h e f a s t - d e v e l o p i n g e n v i ro n m e n t w h i c h i n f l u e n c e s people’s concept, and may cause people to lose some essential intrinsic quality. T h e re f o re , I s k e t c h t h o s e i d e a s o n m y n o t e b o o k a n d s c u l p t u re them applying the technique of black humor and criticism. I tend to deliver the message through the use of metaphors rather than direct channels. This method surprises the audience and encourages contemplation about the concept I aim to deliver. For example, in my piece “Puppet, I aim to illustrate a society that is influenced by the information provided by media instead of independent researches gathered from a variety of sources. I hope someday people can escape the circle in which they restrict themselves when they see my works.

Ceramic
01 Puppet Hand-coiled earthenware; electric fired ,850℃; silps, glaze, 1230 ℃ 150x30x65cm, 2013
By modeling the chicken without feather and illustrating as puppets to satirize humorously the excess, reduplicate and some adjusted information, delivered by mass media, which i s m i s l e a d i n g a n d c o n t ro l l i n g t h e m a s s e s w h o re c e i v e d t h e information blindly without their own judgment.
P roces s : Model the chicken shape by casting with clay and dress the chicken shape as to be slung on the wall then put on different expressions of c h i c k e n ’s h e a d . A l s o c a r v e the chi c k e n ’s s k in in d e t ail.
02 Anti-utopia Clay-silp, electric fired, 850℃; glaze, 1230 ℃ Metal 250x200x70cm, 2014
The sequel of Puppet. Anti-utopia resides oppositely to a human’s ideal life. The non-featured chickens live in the fake henhouse similar to people who live unconsciously in the industrialized society. Everyone is complacent and conservative, and regards their surroundings as a comfort zone ignoring the preposterous things around them.
Process: Cast chickens and remodel them in different poses by serious gravity calculation on each of the chickens.
03 Hypocrisy Hand-coiled earthenware; electric fired, 850℃; silps, glaze, 1230 ℃ Metal, 55x30x140cm, 2013
The creature seems to be mortal with its satisfied smile; meanwhile, the scales are peeling off, the eye is in a trance and the body is disappearing as it collapses. This illustrates the false impression of society that is corrupting our mind and the public's indifference makes the problem rooted in their mind and causes a vicious cycle.
Process: Make the human body shape by modeling clay and put the incomplete scales on the back to illustrate that the creature is being destroyed. The face was colored by slip and glaze.
04 After you leaving Hand-coiled earthenware; electric fired, 850℃; silps, glaze, 1230℃ 35x19x26cm, 2011
These two pieces of art reflect my teenage years. I tried to remain in my romantic and fantastic world and keep a pure heart even though I had comprehended the real world. Process: Pile up the clay, depict some textures, and glaze with dark color.
05 Knock, Knock, Anybody at home? Hand-coiled earthenware; electric fired, 850℃; silps, glaze, 1230℃ 37x13x14cm,2011
06 The growing process Wheel-throw, hand-coiled earthenware, electric fired, 850℃; glaze, 1230℃ 70x15x6.5cm, 2015
The environment shapes the subjects, and the subjects also slowly influence the environment. The bright glazing colors are regarded as the mutagenic factors, changing slightly on the subjects each time. After numerous changes, the subjects finally cannot stand and become ravaged and limp, even collapsing. This collapse helps the subjects transform into new modes with balance to exist and influence the environment again. The transformation process is regarded as a breakthrough and turns old objects into new ones in a positive or negative way.
Process: Throw the clay as a vase shape and narrow the lip. Upend the slightly damp clay and model with another clay to complete the shape and glaze with fluid and color. Make four pieces as a series of artwork.
07 Heart entrance porcelain silp, electric fired, 850℃; glaze, 1230 ℃ 35x13.5x15.5cm, 2015
The idea comes from a landscape. The cave represents mystique while the mountain is warm and heavy, which is similar to the human body. The mountain is my mind. When trying to find an exit in our minds, we should w a n d e r t h r o u g h t h e m y s t e r i o u s c a v e b r a v e l y. T h e observers should imagine themselves as a small person who can feel the warmness and heaviness through the smooth white shape of the mountain and explore the cave courageously to find their own exit.
Process: Shape the clay and polish the surface first. Then slip the casting to create a smooth appearance. After that, broach a hole on the model.
08 Dessert Time silps, electric fired, 850℃; glaze, gas-fired, 1230℃ 12x10x5cm, 2013
The square cups with round angles bring a cheerful and joyful visual performance. I drew some patterns that present several stories around me to share them with other people.
Process: Casting the clay and then glazing different colors on the fictile cups.
09 Fantasy world Wheel-throw, electric fired,850℃; glaze mixed, 1230℃ 6x6x10cm, 2015
To bring peace and calmness, I try to imagine the tranquil ocean and sky to create some colorful landscape views by glazing. Inspiration: In 2014, I went to Montana, USA ,for the working holiday. My friends always invited me to go hiking to get in touch with the landscapes. After coming back, I wanted to do something to keep the emotion.
Process: Throw the clay to become cylindrical then narrow the bottleneck.
When I mix white glaze with deep blue glaze, the iron in the blue glaze begins a chemical recation with the white glaze and produces shallow orange and pink.
10 Chubby Chubby Wheel-throw, electric fired, 850℃ 9x6x14cm, 2015
Shape the cups by folding the layers of fatty meats to illustrate a sense of beauty.
glaze
In order to acquire colors like the scenery, I try several ways to mix glaze.I pick some deep and bright blue; When some highly-fluid glaze is mixed, they create an image of water or mountains surrounded by mists and clouds. Sometimes I want to know how highly-fluid glaze appears in the uneven surface, so I change its compositionto get a satisfactory result.
Process: Formed by throwing then remodeled by slip casting.
