KERAMIKINSEL REACTIVATION OF UNDERUSED SPACES (BAUEN IM BESTAND) year: 2014 Rottweil, Germany creator(s): Me, Nadine Hauff, Nicole Katzmarek
The main purpose of this project is the reactivation of spaces. We give a new function to an old factory in Rottweil, Germany, in order to reactivate the Neckartal river. The project is a ceramic factory where the visitors can live the process of ceramic manufacture, from the design to the final detail. Visitors can design their own furniture and take them home. On the outside, we design also a courtyard for the kids and an interessant landscape design based on grass and concrete slopes creating paths that guide visitors through the factory.
The essential elements of the project are CUBES and PATHS. In order to have a dialogue with the existing building we respect all the materials preserving the atmosphere and we add cubes in the inside to divide the space. Also we design a new building following the shape of the existing one but with new materials. Every cube represents a part of the process of ceramic manufacture. Also, the cubes have moving panels in order to make the space more dynamic. The working area is located in the ground floor and in the first floor there is a gallery and a restaurant.

BACHELOR THESIS NEST LOFTS SMART BLOCKS year: 2014 Queretaro, Mexico Master Plan: Students from Last Project International Course creator: Me Render by: Getsemani Leines
Queretaro is an industrial city located around 300 km away from the capital city (Mexico city). Every day, around 45 people emigrate to Queretaro because of the indistry. For that reason, the demand of housing is really high. The problem is that the city is growing so fast and without planning; The developers are building in the outsides where the land costs less and they are ignoring the existing part of the city (the downtown). With this, the costumers are having problems covering their basic needs because the services are far away from them. The topic of my Bachelor Thesis is the
proposal and design of a "Smart block" with another 10 Students and developing one specific project for this smart block. A Smart block is a block where people can live and fullfill their basic needs, having also interaction with the environment and the city, Our solution was choosing a block in the downtown area, restoring the buildings that can be still used and creating new ones.
THE PROJECT NEST LOFTS are seven microlofts (microspaces for young people) where they can live, work and be themselves.

The main spatial Concept is the use of a free floor plan so the user can make each space its own. The commercial space, located unter the slopes, comes with a double height with openings in order to provide cenital light.
