XINZI DENG PROFILE A qualified architect should learn about different fields as much as possible. From exploring landscape architecture combined with traditional art to researching computational design and urban theories to try to achieve a zero-carbon city; from establishing a start-up in collaboration with a large firm to starting up my design-related official account; from traditional dance and instruments to handcrafts, my wide range of interests directs me to engage fully with the world.

Seeking a full-time Architectural Assistant Part 2 position.

Illusory Tunnel The rotated space part of “Time and Space Mirage” is made of 6 modules rotating 15 degrees around the axis, and each module unit is formed by equilateral triangle with chamfered corners. The module consists of two inner and outer rings.

15°

The gap between the two sets of rings is provided with two module connecting components. The outer ring of the first and the last two modules is deformed to make its shape connect with the pedestrian corridor gently.

Location : Nansha, Canton, China Project Year : Sep. 2018 “Time and Space Mirage” is mainly composed of three parts: mobile corridor, illusory tunnel and Riverview Ferris Wheel. When people walk on the bridge, the boundary between reality and illusion is fuzzy. The Shape Design of the bridge presents a kind of science and technology feeling. Riverview Ferris Wheel looks like meteors crossing the horizon.

Just like a time tunnel, “Time and Space Mirage” brings a brand new experience for passing.

Social Housing & Cycling Club Xinzi Deng, Lian Luo

Project Year : 2021 The Secret Lake is beside the Fallowfield Loop. It belongs Levenshume area. Surrounded by the industrial estate and residential estate, the Secret Lake is hidden by overgrown vegetation. Obviously, the Secret Lake has rich natural resources and nears by industrial and residential estate, so it is conducive to creating semi-artificial natural landscapes to provide a more attractive and more beautiful public activities space. Therefore, the two vacant areas which are beside the Secret Lake will be used the project site. And it will combine the surrounding landscape and the road system to create a positive public activities space, leading a safer, more active and social wellbeing community environment.

Design Concept - Architecture The architectural design is divided into three areas, Building - A, Building - B and Building - C. In addition, the three buildings are connected to the road system through cycling paths. Building A focus on Bike Club and Bike Themed Hotel. It is mainly public activities and temporary residence for cycling enthusiasts and travellers. Building - B & C focus on Social Housing and provides some Gyms, Cycling Repair and Cafe. The unit type is mainly one bedroom and one hall because a single population is more in this site. According to the original natural landscape, the road and plants on the site were properly planned. On the second floor, Building - B and Building - C are connected by cycling lanes.

Landscape Architecture

Perfect Urban Form

Grasp the Opportunity of building a new library, the land by library and the Central Green Axis “Energetic Landscape Park” are unified in design to improve the ambient environment qualities. Cultural education, commerce work, administrative work, and resources of business and sportswear should be organically integrated to create the coordinates between natural landscape and architecture and characteristic city space, thus promoting the overall image and competitiveness of the region.

Refine the urban morphology in Nanxu Avenue and emphasis on the overall layout. Both the library and cultural creation lie to the south of Nanxu Avenue, they can form rectangular frames. When combined with the Planning Exhibition Hall and Transportation Bureau in the east, all these can deepen the region’s programming. Hence, the north park in Nanxu Avenue is spread out towards the north; on the south, the gymnasium meeting and exhibiting centre.

Twenty-Four Scenes of the Jingjiang River There are 24 painting works with each painting is 38 centimeters high and 63.3 centimeters long. They were painted in 1842 by Zhou Rong, a representative of the Jingjiang Painting School in the Qing Dynasty. Twenty-Four Scenes of the Jingjiang River has been designated as the second-class national collection. I’ll extract 12 of them to analyze.

Painting and Calligraphy The collision of local culture and the culture of the Central Plains, left a lot of treasures of men of literature and writing. “Twenty-Four Scenes of the Jingjiang River” has been designated as the second-class national collection. Learning from the design and absorbing the romantic charm from the famous painting. By embedding the regular side box in landscape base and making the building elevation texture of bamboo shutters with translucent skin material, the “fairyland” overall image is taking shape. To the project as a whole, present a remarkable national rhyme. That is, “Architecture is landscape, landscape is scroll”.

Landscape Zhenjiang has been known as the “First Landscape under Heaven” since ancient times, which takes landscape as composition element. 'Leshan benevolent, wise water music' .The project is made of Landscape base and side box and the landscape is surrounded by the building. Library and Wenchuang are combines in internal space, while In the middle space, two functional zones are connected through the space of 'cave atrium'. The whole project is organically constituted by landscape and library, which embodies the world outlook idea that heaven and man are of a whole.

Thought The local cultural type of Zhenjiang is an open culture with Wu culture as its main body, inclusive of both north and south, and eclecticism. Which fits for the philosophy of China about “rely on each other and belong to each other mutually”. The design incorporates this idea into the architecture and transforms it with nature. Converting the mountain with water and library with cultural creation makes a characteristic space absorbed anything and everything. Setting up hierarchy, enriching and diversifying communication space in the “Cave atrium” to create a cultural highland with enlightenment and flowers blooming.
