Nicky Grist Announces the Stilo Helmet Award for 2013 to be affiliated with the Super One Karting Championship The sponsorship deal is awarded in recognition of a young karter’s development in the craft of kart racing over a single season of racing and will be awarded to a competitor within the Super One Championship. The sponsorship is offered by the 1993 World Champion rally co-driver, Nicky Grist and premier Italian helmet manufacturer, Stilo. This award will be valid for one year, and then will be awarded to the next young person who the judges deem to have shown a development and improvement in their karting through that season. This year’s winner, Connor Mills, the British Mini Max Champion, will be presented with his fully designed Golden Helmet on the Nicky Grist stand on Friday at 16.00 by Rob Huff, the WTCC champion. (stand no 6470) “I am keen to support the development and growth of young people at the start of their learning of motorsport. One aspect of this must be safety. When you are young you feel you are invincible and indestructible but safety is paramount throughout a competitors career and I am keen to ensure that these youngsters gain an understanding that motorsport is about showing the world your talents as a driver and competitor and not about showing off and taking unnecessary risks. There should be no compromise when it comes to the selection of kit to protect you, particularly when it comes to your head and neck” “I am lucky to have been at the very top of my sport and competed with the best and so to be able to pass even a little of my experience and knowledge is something that’s very important. Throughout the year of the award I will be able to promote and support the young karter and, hopefully, help them to be able to make the correct decisions in the next step on their career as a motorsport competitor, whether that is on track, in rally, or even as a career in the industry”. The Stilo Nicky Grist Karting Team Enter the Autosport Karting Challenge With so many champions choosing Stilo in 2012, Nicky Grist and Stilo have decided to celebrate by entering a team into the Autosport Karting Challenge this year. Leading the team will be the WTCC champion, Rob Huff. Joining him is the General Manager for Stilo, Italy, Guglielmo Belotti, a racer in Italy, and two up and coming stars in the world of karting Bobby Thompson and Josh Wakefield. Finishing the line up is Conner Mills, the inaugural winner of the Stilo Golden Helmet Award and the 2012 British Mini Max Champion. “I am delighted to have such a pedigree od drivers competing in the Stilo Nicky Grist karting team. Huffy and I wanted to have some fun and showcasing his love of Stilo and this seemed a great way to do it” enthused Nicky. The Autosport Karting Challenge is on Friday evening with a drivers briefing at 17.30 which is then followed by a good three hours of karting against some of the best drivers attending the Autosport Show this year. The event will take place in the Karting Arena with the fans able to get up close to their motorsport heroes. “Come and join us for the evening, and share it what is going to be a great fun event. If you put a group of competitive people into an event like this it always produces some fantastic racing. Sparks should fly!” said Nicky.
