Destination Spotlight

SISIMIUT, GREENLAND

Located just north of the Arctic Circle, Sisimiut is the northernmost town in Greenland where the port remains free of ice in the winter. Yet it is also the southernmost town where enough snow and ice exists to drive a dogsled in winter and spring. Sisimiut has been the home of a variety of cultures and groups for nearly 4,500 years. Ruins of early settlements can still be seen west of the town. Hike, kayak, go flightseeing, or simply take a stroll through this picturesque town to discover its ancient history and backcountry charm.

• Search for colonies of penguins – Adélie, chinstrap, gentoo, king – and pods of whales

• Prepare for 1-2 landings per day on every expedition, regardless of itinerary, weather permitting

• Consider a range of expedition lengths (10 to 21 days) and a myriad of destination combinations

• Choose an itinerary combining exploration of Antarctica with discovery of the Chilean Fjords, Patagonia, and beyond

PRE & POST LAND ADVENTURES

EL CALAFATE GLACIERS

5 days / 4 nights from Puerto Williams

Journey to El Calafate for three days of peak Patagonian wonders. Ascend Mount Frias by 4x4 for astounding views of Argentino Lake and the iconic granite towers of Torres del Paine. Visit Perito Moreno, the world’s only glacier still actually growing. Experience the Curve of Sighs and ramble the catwalks along the glacier itself. Programme includes inter-Brazil/Argentina flights, and accommodations and leisure time in Buenos Aires and Ushuaia.

IGUAZU FALLS

5 days / 4 nights from Puerto Williams
