Wow! This round of SIFF really blew me away. Something about it‌ there was an energy like we have never felt before. More films than ever, and a fantastic lineup of Machinima Masters. We had our first ever Band Search which was a big hit so far, and hopefully will continue as yet another way for creative minds of all kinds to get involved in the SIFF buzz. As always we take on a theme for each magazine issue. These themes are meant to inspire new ideas for your films, photos and stories. You will see in these pages that we got a bit crazy having fun with the Space and Future theme so we hope you’ll enjoy it and perhaps we will see more Sims space odysseys in the coming years at SIFF.

Minraed Arzhel

Gus Rockman "This SIFF cycle has been truly amazing, and I'm really glad I'm part of the fantastic staff that helps pull it together! The films premiered are really jaw-dropping, showing the amount of effort that goes into creating them. Its also nice to see that the Simatography family keeps growing and growing with talented artists from all around the world. I can't wait for next season's SIFF!"

Nanami "SIFF keeps getting better and better every season, and by that, i don't mean that it started out bad, i mean that every year, SIFF overcomes another level, and grows into something different, bigger, yet staying with the same essence of community and friendship. I was really excited to see what Simatography brought this year, expecting great things, and as i knew it would happen, i am definitely not disappointed" Mystery Jack "This cycle of SIFF has been absolutely fantastic! Films & Photos, Directors & Creators, etc. just get better each season! It's amazing to think that SIFF Spring 2013 will be even better than Fall 2012! So to all you Directors, Readers, Fans and Simmers, thank you all for participating in this season of SIFF, and we hope you enjoy the magazine!"

Felicity "OMG I'M FLOATING! SOMEONE GET ME DOWN! Anyway, Bonjour peasants! This round of SIFF has been absolutely fantabulous, darlings! I had all the films sent via the Black Market to my Palace so I could watch them all! It's sad to think that it's all over for another 6 months, but at least we have this magazine! Skip to my Red Carpet Fashion segment, where I will be judging you like American Idol! Ciao!"

We would also like to thank Cloudwalker for her special creative contributions to this issue. Her graphic talents led her to win our SIFF magazine challenge this round and we were thrilled to have her working along side us for this issue.

Lighting can make or break your photo shoot or machinima. Getting the lighting right is a KEY skill to practice and a detail that you should never overlook, especially when you are creating dark scenes where you want to light things up but still give that feeling of being in a dark, mysterious and creepy setting. TIP:

Use invisible lights to brighten the top level of an open two storey set like this one so that you don’t lose the great visual effect of the extra high ceilings,

TIP:

For dark outdoor scenes use plenty of lighting to give you exactly the lighting effect you need while still feeling in the dark

There is a set of invisilble lights, both overhead and straight on, that are available through testingcheatsenabled true and buydebug cheats, but these lights are not suitable for all occasions. For very specific light direction and effects you will want invisible spotlights like the ones shown here. See the next page for where to find them.

Thank you to Buhudain for this amazing light set. Get these and more at

Simatography is a place for celebrities; a place where people with dreams to become famous can find their place and make a name for themselves. Over the years such celebrities as The Exposer, Felicity Éclair and Honey Chiffon were born. Unfortunately, once the stars get in the spotlight and become very much in demand they move on to bigger and better things. This is why we are in search of new personalities - reporters, journalists, and other such celebrities - to help us keep up with the SIFF festival buzz and the day to day Simatography gossip. We have a couple of exclusive interviews with two of our most famous personalities of the past, and a peek at some of the hopeful personalties of the future. Coming later this year, following SIFF, we will continue our search in a new challenge open to all Simatography members and Sims fans.

Melody Hutchings presented by agent Majella. A girly girl and puppy lover from Hidden Springs.

Gus Rockman from Brainstrip Studios An egocentric perfectionist from Starlight Shores.

Risa Tally presented by agent Serena Rockwell A talkative, mathematical genius from St. Clare

We had quite a selection of talented The Next Top Personality challenge. It them, their talents and personalities. harsh and only two of our hopefuls member of our staff here at for himself, while the other , who we is a guest contributor in this issue.

Rory Blass presented by OakHaven Studios An outgoing SimFu fighter from Appalooza Plains.

Heather Cliff presented by agent Uninspired A party girl and tattoo artist from Sunset Valley.

Bella Gray presented by agent Demeter A model and avid gardener from Sunset Valley.

hopeful stars come out to audition for was quite a pleasure getting to know But in show business, the competition is have been selected. One is now a Simatography and is making a name hope that we will be seeing more of, See who they are on the next page

Gus took part in the Next Top Personality challenge just as he was getting started on the team at Simatography. He wasn’t afraid to share his um‌ personal side either. Not shy this one, and he is well on his way to making a great career for himself here.

During the Next Top Personality challenge, Bella shared some of her less flattering work as a B-movie star, and attempted to seduce our photographers while taking a peek into her secret lair. In the end, Bella’s talents caught our attention and we hope to see more of her soon.

Pippa was the very first of the celebrity personalities to report for SIFF. Others may try to imitate, but she was the one and only original. We miss Pippa’s keen reporting saavy, but we were lucky to catch her for this exclusive interview. Who is Pippa Razzi? Pippa Razzi is a roving reporter around the Sims 3 Community! She has done stories on celebrities for Rising Star magazine to promote their upcoming SIFF films, and even went to Antarctica looking for secret lair of the ever-elusive Exposer! She isn't just another paparazzi that will do anything for a story, she is only interested in finding the facts, and looking fabulous at the same time!

How did the idea come around to create this character? While I (AAshleySEG), was working on Rising Stars magazine, I needed a persona to be the reporter! AAshleySEG was a film director and staff member at Simatography, she just didn't have time to do everything, so that is where Pippa Razzi came in! She could do all of the interviews, write the stories, comment on the fashion of the red carpet, etc! So she was really created out of necessity.

Pippa has a particular personality and look that can’t be mistaken. Do you think of playing Pippa as role-playing? Sure, I would say that playing Pippa is role-playing. In real life I am nothing like her at all. Her style is very distinct and I could never pull that off, even though I would love too! She is also never afraid to ask the hard questions or go to the greatest lengths for a story, me...I'm too nice for that..hehe!

personality by AAshleySEG

Pippa has dabbled in many projects. Which is your favourite?

My absolute favorite project with Pippa was working on Rising Stars magazine! It was so much fun getting to meet and interview all of the wonderful participants during the SIFF season! With so many great celebrities and directors, there is always a fun time to be had. Even though she froze her buns off, she also had fun in Antarctica looking for the Exposer, her one on-camera experience ...even if it was just a video diary!

Norbert came to us first through his agent Midnight. Clearly the creation of a crazed lunatic, Norbert Szucs quickly grew out of control, but we grew to love the insanity. Who is Norbert? Norbert is the owner, producer and main actor of the Midnight's Universe label and Midnight Studios. He first appeared in The Szucs Family, back in 2009, as lead character. All those stories around him are based on his life. He became famous with Midnight Studio's most appreciated story, The Adventurer, where he was telling the tales of how he ran away from the Keepers of the Time. Later on, after a break, Midnight's greatest project was released, and I can already see your lips pronouncing it, yes - Norbert's Anatomy, the story that threw our Star into a coma, going deeper and deeper into the darkness. The final chapter was not yet released due to Norbert's world tour and other shenanigans. Many mysteries are still untold, many say that he is a night creature, seeing him lurking around expensive pubs of great Bridgeport, other say that he bought a farm somewhere in Appaloosa Plains, growing mysterious plants with his life partner and weird cat. Rumors or not, time will tell! Where did you get the idea for this character? I think this is the best thing in The Sims; the possibility of adding yourself in the game then remodeling, rethinking, and just building up a little guy the way you see yourself inside or you want to see yourself in the real world. This is how Norbert was born, as a direct image of myself; microscopically analyzed and multiplied by a great number. All of Norbert's actions during all those stories represents something TRUE in my life, more or less psychologically. Of course, injected with a good amount of fantasy, because this is how you usually interpret feelings. Norbert lives all my dreams and adventures, he has all the money and the fame he wants. He is the perfect definition of Ultimate Freedom. No strings attached, no consequences.

character created by Midnight... who is a character created by Norbert Szucs ya, try to figure that out...

When you play “Norbert” do you consider it role-playing? Yes, definitely. All those stories I wrote have a direct impact on my in-game experience. In fact I can't even play with the studio version of Norbert (and I miss the old guy) because, well, he is still in a coma. So sue me. I had to fast forward a bit to play with my cool, young, 6packed, inked Norbert that works hard to become the next King of Pop, where living the life of the rich and famous is mandatory. Of course, there's no life without drama, so girls and boys (hehe, some rumors may be true after all!) beware of Starlight Shores' Casanova!

What are Norbert’s greatest talents? He has only one talent, the talent of being good at anything. Since the World War II (or should I say The Sims 2? No, too mainstream!) So since the World War II, Norbert's great, great... Great-grandfather… (conveniently named, just like him...) Norbert, had a great passion for cooking. Apparently all men named Norbert in this book had a great passion for cooking, gardening, charisma and all sorts of crafting skills. As I said, everything! I believe this so called “Player” is most of the time hungry during his act of “playing”. Probably that’s the reason why Norbert’s first job had involved an oven and a frying pan. Grilled cheese anyone?

Norbert has dabbled in many projects. Which are his favourites? Well, personally, each project represents a step into my evolution. Each storysode (part of a project) brought more and more depth. Evolution, besides quantity and quality, simatography and writing, I would define it as totally reinventing my style on each project, from a personal take like The Szucs Family, to a shared experience like Girlfriends, which was developed with the help of my best friends. Also, Norbert's Anatomy has characters made by other Simmers. As for Norbert's favorite, Norbert's Anatomy would be clearly the one. He has amazing mates to interact with, huge scenes to play with, awesome outfits, plus each storysode had a complete remake starting from character roles, plots to the breath taking sets and environments.

Simatography’s Minraed had a chance to meet up with two of SIFF’s greatest supporters, Sims Gurus Poptart and Hydra.

Come and see what the Sims Gurus think of SIFF and what they love about the films.

I would like to start by saying how excited I am to be able to meet you both in person and to thank you for your ongoing support of SIFF. What is it about SIFF that caught your attention?

POPTART: “The movies definitely caught my eye… and the red carpet event… and all the community members that are taking part of it! Can I just say everything?”

HYDRA: I’ve never seen a group

of Simmers put together a showcase of Machinima that really felt like a REAL film festival. When I first saw the poster and Red Carpet photos, I thought, wow, it’s an experience, a “real” Sim event! It was easy to see just how much work and love went into this. Machinima made with The Sims games are spectacular by themselves, but when an event where there are special lots built, magazines/Playbills published, posters created to showcase these, that’s really something.

What type of films are the Gurus looking for when they fave machinimas for The Sims3 official YouTube channel? HYDRA: We love all kinds of genres, but I love the music videos and comedies. We look for family friendly and T for Teen so that everyone can enjoy them on our channel.

POPTART: I like to be surprised in quality and imagery, and you guys always follow through. I want my eyes to feel like they are eating candy, if that makes sense.

The lovely and talented Sylent Whysper has a special gift for our Guru guests - a VIP Red Carpet makeover just in time for the closing ceremony galas.

Lyramia Movies Germany Lyramia inspires us with this magical tale. She has long-standing machinima experience with a Sims2 series under her belt. She is a true inspiration to machinima makers.

Anches Germany Anches’ story telling is well known to followers the Don Lotario Story. This film is a sequel to Nero’s Transformation, but it is captivating and exciting on it’s own.

Titus Linde created her first Sims3 machinima for SIFF a while back and blew us away then. Now that we have opened up to Sims2 films we are able to see her mind-blowing talents in filming Sims2.

Charismatic is a unique story teller with a whole different approach to Sims machinima than we usually see, bringing raw game footage to life in a whole new way.

Voice acting is becoming more and more common in the SIFF films, and yet the voice actors don’t seem to garner the praise and recognition that the directors do. SIFF would like to recognize the incredible contribution that voice actors make in enriching our SIFF film-going experience. Some of our voice actors are professional or semi-professional, some very experienced, and others completely new to this. Many are heard in more than one SIFF film each season. We would like to take this opportunity to THANK each of the voice actors that helped our directors and film-makers bring their stories to life.

Leon, Nora, it is a pleasure to have this chance to meet you both in person. Since the trailer was released Missing Pieces has been captivating viewers, in part because of you two, the starring actors, in your first starring roles. How does it feel to be at the center of attention for the first time?

L. Thanks for giving us this wonderful opportunity! To be honest, it's difficult to describe this feeling in just one word. It may be awesome, brilliant, outstanding; but also difficult, and challenging. N. Leon is right. One word wouldn't be enough, but if I can pick one it'll be: mnemonic. I've never been challenged to memorize as much as I did on this film. Something that is intriguing us is why “Missing Pieces? What’s missing?

L. It's a little bit difficult to explain exactly what's up with this movie. We started with the idea of "filling some empty spots" left from another project, and we ended up here. N. Well, apart "supporting" the other project, Missing Pieces shows very well something important: the weight of the emotions. You can clearly see: Leon's regret, Bennett's tragedy, Herbert's disappointment and...my anger.

While the director was driving me here, she told me that the two of you were childhood friends and that you met on this set after sixteen years apart from each other. How was it to see each other again after such a long time? Exciting or awkward?

L. Well...(laughs) At the beginning I found it hard to believe it was her. I mean, I knew her since she was a chubby girl with ponytail and an horrible taste in clothes and - after such a long time - I see her older, thinner and...cheerful. N. To be honest, I wasn't that excited when I saw him here. The first thing I thought was: "How did he get here?". I felt very uncomfortable at that point, but after a long chat, we finally left our past behind, and we're here. (laughs) In real life, you both have different interests. Who are Leon and Norah away from the set?

L. I’m really a jack of all trades; I started as a bouncer, then I've been model, photographer, writer, singer, gardener, butler and now I'm trying my hand at culinary school, but so far, I only learnt how to do bruleè fruits. N. I was trying to graduate in criminal psychology;, but I had to quit because I had serious family issues to take care about. After my parent's divorce, I started working as a waitress downtown and - to earn more- I acted for a tv series and in various b-movies.

Norah, during your director tells me that she picked you because of your way of feeling comfortable in any situation. Looking at your audition, indeed, you seem really at ease on set. Is this a natural gift, or does it come from experience?

N. This is indeed a curious question. You know, I've always been on stage. Since I was a child I used to act at the Christmas recital, and my teacher said I had a special gift for acting., but my parents weren't exactly proud of this skill so they forced me to quit acting. I understand that during some scenes you became more emotional than usual. Does this have anything to do with the history between the two of you as teens?

N. (sigh) I’ve always been attracted to Leon’s rough, tough, rudeness somehow. I thought that he was the one for me. I though that behind his appearance that he would be nice and sensitive, but… the reality was different than my expectation. When I decided to make the first move I was jumping into the dark. I was very naïve then and in the end I suffered a lot when we broke up. I guess some of the scenes in this movie reminded me of our past somehow. From what I understand Leon, you do have a sensitive side, especially when it comes to family and your twin sister?

L. I’m very devoted to my family. My sister and I are inseparable, we understand each other very well and we share more than a simple brother/sister bond. She has always supported me and has been by my side since our parents died. I do love her a lot, and even though we live apart she always has time for a chat.

Leon, you have developed a friendship with Vince and Ayumi from Opera, what have you heard of the newest HDS project?

L. Oh, Vince said “no comments until the release”, but I’ve seen some clips and I can assure you that everyone will love it. I’ve been fascinated with the concept from the start. Let’s talk about the future. Are we going to see both of you again on set, or do you have other plans?

L. I’m not entirely sure about my future plans, but I can definitely say that you’ll see me um.. in action very soon! (laughs aloud) N. I have no plans on quitting acting anytime soon. I think I’ll keep improving my skills and hopefully be even more famous one day.

During your Red Carpet premiere gala we witnessed some shameful moments. Which will get you the award for worst Red Carpet moment ever?!

N. I don’t know what to say, but if I have to… I think Leon will win the prize for all of the slaps he got after flirting with all of the engaged and married actresses. (smirks) L. I don’t like judging people, but the guy who stripped on the Red Carpet out anything I did. That guy was definitely out of his mind !

Well,. thank you both for taking your time to share your secrets with the fans today. I can tell that the two of you are great friends after all of these years, and I do hope we will see both of you again soon.
