YOUR PROPOSAL STORIES We always love a good proposal story, and we would love for you to get in touch with us if you have a story to tell!
After knowing he had brought the ring and seeing it sat in the kitchen cupboard for almost a year knowing it was there every day I nally had enough waiting, I gave him the ring and told him to ask me (haha) not very romantic but with three kids we don't get alot of alone time away from them at all together, so waiting for a special day for it to happen was just unlikely. We've been together seven years in total and get married on 16th June 2018. How we met was not so romantic either (haha) but we love each other so much and are so opposite but the same we just match and he goes above and beyond to make me and our kids happy.
May from Kidderminster
My ancé bought me my engagement ring for Xmas 2 years ago, after waiting all day to open it he decided to wait until boxing day when the kids were in bed to propose to me, not very romantic but he had me on pins all of Xmas day. We get married on the 24th of June 2018

My ď€ ancĂŠ has not one romantic bone in his body. However we were on holiday and had been for a few drinks, he asked if I wanted to go for a walk down the beach. He said he was going to take a picture, and pointed to something out at sea. I turned around and he was down on one knee and asked me to marry him!! I was so shocked I just told him to get up haha, I didn't even say yes until he reminded me I hadn't!! Everything about the proposal was perfect! My reaction was terrible haha!
Katie Morley from Leicester
My husband to be proposed on my birthday. After I opened my presents he disappeared upstairs to change our little girl and get my last present. While they were gone I realized he'd cleared a space in the living room so I was wondering what he'd got me. After about ten minutes he shouted down for me to stand up and close my eyes. I did, and he came down and put our daughter in my hands and told me to hold her up and open my eyes. I did, and this is what she was wearing...
Claire Jackson from Widnes
Sounds like how we met (wasn't romantic) I was waiting at a bus stop and he thought he had work that day turned out he didn't, he walked up to me and started chatting it was either talk to him or share a bus shelter with a drunk so we spoke. He tried to convince me to walk up this 2 mile hill to my house (after my 23 hour shift might I add haha) I refused and he waited for the bus with me, got on for 2 stops and gave me his number that he'd only just memorized, I was bored on the rest of my bus journey so messaged him and ever since we've not spent a day apart (been together 9 years January) and we've got 3 children and we will be married the day before our 10 year anniversary (27 Jan)

DO: • Check out Pinterest for ideas rst. BSB founder Jessica has a whole board dedicated to groomswear. Gone are the days of basic black suits with matching vests for all of the guys. There’s so many options now from suit colors to ties to suspenders and more! • Find a way to make your wedding party’s looks cohesive. This could be from matching the color of the bridesmaids’ dresses to the groomsmen’s vests to coordinating a look for their bouquets and boutonnieres. • Set your man apart from the others. This is something I didn’t think about before we chose the tuxes, but it makes total sense! You could do this by putting your man in a different color than his guys or by having a different boutonniere than they do. • Add a simple detail. I once attending a wedding where the groom loved to yo-yo. He wore a yo-yo hanging from his belt loop…what a creative way to bring in the groom’s personality
DO’S & DON’TS DON’T: • Discount the pocket square. Don’t feel like a boutonniere is necessary? A lot of brides and grooms opt for their men to wear just a pocket square on their coat. A simple and sophisticated look. (Note: one of my wedding colors is purple, so since I went with purple vests and ties, we opted for a white pocket square. I LOVE purple, but I decided to give the guys a break.) • Forget to consider your season and venue. Whether your wedding’s in the summer on a beach or in the winter in a ballroom, make sure you take that into account when selecting your guys’ attire. Since ours is outside in late April, we decided on a gray suit and got all the guys extra shirts. We want to keep the cool during this extravaganza! • Be afraid to be different by opting for the mismatched wedding party look. One way we’re doing this is by having our fathers wear striped ties, and the groomsmen wear solid ties. A small detail goes a long way! (This also applies to your bridesmaids!) • Follow the rules. With all of the tips and advice out there on wedding planning, I say, Break the rules! If there’s something you and your guy love and want that doesn’t t in with “the typical,” whether it’s ditching the jackets or going barefoot, go for it! 22 |
Congratulations, You’re engaged and you’ve set the date for the big day so now what? Time to plan! You’ve been envisioning this day since you were little, and while it’s fun to nally have the chance to play out your fantasies, the actual planning can be a bit overwhelming. Here’s a handy timeline and checklist to help you stag organised, on track and stress free!!

Helping you look the part!
PHOTOGRAPHY THINGS TO CONSIDER & ASK YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER The Wedding Date: Is my wedding date available? Are you the photographer who will shoot my wedding? (If not, can I meet the photographer before my wedding?) How many other weddings will you photograph that weekend? Will you have any assistants with you on that day? How will you (and your assistants) be dressed?
Photography Package & Payment: If my wedding site is out of your area, do you charge a travel fee and what does that cover? What packages do you offer? Can I customize a package based on my needs? Can you put an "instant" slideshow of the ceremony to show at the reception? Do you provide retouching, colour adjustment, or other corrective services? How long after the wedding will I get the proofs? Will they be viewable online? Will you be posting about our wedding on your social media sites? How long after I order my photos/album will I receive them? Will you give me the negatives and/or the digital images, and is there a fee for that? How much of a deposit do you require and when is it due? Do you offer a payment plan? What is your refund/cancellation policy? Do you have liability insurance?
Background Check: How long have you been shooting weddings? Have you shot a wedding at my ceremony and reception venues? Do you have a portfolio of recent weddings you've shot? How many weddings have you photographed? Have you done any that were similar to mine in size and style?
Photography Style: How would you describe your wedding-photography style? Do you shoot digitally or with film? Or both? Do you shoot in colour and black and white? Can I give you a list of specific shots we would like?
Logistics: Do you have backup equipment? What about a backup plan if you are unable to shoot my wedding for some reason? What time will you arrive at the site and for how long will you shoot? How far in advance do I need to book you? What information do you need from me before the wedding day?

Whether it's for an engagement, wedding or civil partnership, anniversary, landmark birthday or a christening, you want your cake to look totally fabulous on your special day. Many cake suppliers and venues offer a basic stand with their cakes as part of the deal, but if you want something to make your cake a truly attention grabbing centrepiece then check out what we have to offer. Why not choose the stand and then get your cake designed around it. More & more these days, people are having their cake made by a member of the family, friend or are buying an equally fabulous one "off the shelf". Buying a stand can be expensive especially as it is only used for a few hours and will then sit on a shelf gathering dust or hidden in a cupboard.
