WELCOME Sul Sul Simmers! It’s Halloween month. Here in South Africa, we don’t celebrate Halloween as heavily like in America and the UK. It’s been a fun month where we welcome a new team member and new articles. This month, Nina takes us back to Sims 3 where she converts Sims 4 CAS items and turns them into Sims 3 CAS that you can enjoy in your game. We also have a look at LeoSimsCC and his modern furniture you can use to spruce up your house. Chloe, new to the team, guides you through how to turn a plain box into a spectacular room and she also created a comic just for you to enjoy! It’s almost the end of 2021 and it’s scary to think about that. 2 more months left. We still have some fun things up our sleeves and the Christmas Issue will be so much fun. Until we meet again,

Who is Nina?
Hey SimmedUp Style!
Let me tell you something about myself: I’m Nina and have a very very big heart for the sims series like most of us simmers. My love for The Sims and gaming started at a very young age. My dad used to be a gamer too and thanks to him I got my first computer at the age of five. Back then I played The Sims 1 with 3 expansion pack (Vacation, Superstar and Makin´ Magic). But The Sims 1 was directed to an older audience and it was much harder than the later parts of the series. So you can imagine that a 5year old girl understands very little about this game. But I have managed to age a baby into a child once and I think that is a great success. I tried that again a few years ago. Spoiler: I didn't make it. I don’t quite remember but I think I got the sims 2 when I was 8 years old. My uncle gifted me the sims 2 super deluxe and I had a blast playing it! I rarely played with the premade sims and If I did it was always families from Strangetown (I played the smith-family a lot). Instead, I always recreated my family and friends and played with them. During this time I got to know what custom content is. The first custom content I´ve ever downloaded was from Lianasims2. Do you know that feeling when you discover
5
custom content for the first time? It feels like you enter a whole new world. That was exciting
and problems, but we always got it fixed and got back together.
Some years later I meet the love of my life: The sims 3. Ever since the release of the trailer and feature preview I was hyped for this game. And It didn’t disappoint me a single bit. I spent so much time playing it, spend so much money on expansion and stuff packs, and had the time of my life - actually I still have the time of my life playing it. The sims 3 is full of things to explore and even after 10 years of playing it I still discover new things. The open-world, the create a sim, the build mode and customization everything is so... perfect in my eyes. The sims 3 and I had our ups and downs a lot of crashes, lags,
When the sims 4 got released I was way less excited. The trailer and feature preview didn’t catch me as previous ones did, so I didn´t buy it as soon as it got released. Needless to say, I was in high school and was too broke to buy that game. But I did watch lets plays and reviews on YouTube. Oh boy, I didn’t like it at all. I was so sad about the fact they removed the open world and everything seemed so halfhearted. Years later after City Living got released I got myself to buy the sims 4 with City Living, Get Together, and some stuff packs. I didn’t play for long. But the sims-lover I am, I brought almost every expansion pack and stuff pack up to Snowy escape simply because every time they released a new pack I thought: Maybe this time! Maybe now you can play it without getting bored after 30 minutes. But nothing changed. Even with so many expansions, it feels half-hearted to me. Don’t get me wrong! The sims 4 has its very unique features and they improved some things like build mode, it sure can be a very good and fun game, but I just haven´t found my playstyle yet. Maybe in the future

But the thing I always liked about The Sims 4 is the modern objects, clothing, and the amazing custom content created for this game. With conversion, I could give my sims 3 the thing that it lacks and I got the best of both games. Shoutout to Manon aka pixelfrogslegs who made me fall in love with conversion. A big fat thank you! Now talking about how I started to convert clothes myself. Covid-19 and Lockdown hit my country and I couldn´t go to work for a whole year. I sat in my room for a whole year with nothing to do. I started a lot of new things and discovered a lot of new hobbies while in Lockdown. To be honest with you: I think the Lockdown was one of the best things that happened to me, but I know that it was also a very bad thing for a lot of people. I am very thankful for how lucky I was in this situation. I’ve found a tutorial on how to convert clothes from sims 4 to sims 3 on Tumblr. It was made by mimisapje. Very good explanation and I can recommend everyone who is interested in conversions. I started it in autumn 2020 and finished my first conversion end of February 2021 with the help of pixelfrogslegs. Yep, it took me months to finally understand the whole process. But I was so proud of myself and was so excited to give my sims a lot of new stylish clothes. And now, months later, I converted a lot of stuff and have a very loooong ToDo list. But I´m happy about it and still have a lot of fun converting. It makes me unbelievably happy to see people using my conversions and enjoying them. That keeps me going. Even though sometimes I feel bad because I am not able to create clothes from scratch and I use stuff

from another game or made by others creators. That’s the time to say thank you to all those amazing cc creators who make cc for the sims 4 and allow conversion to other sims games. I really appreciate you! Well... Thats about it. My journey as a simmer and now a content creator. The sims community is really a beautiful place and I’ve met a lot of sweet and nice people. Glad to be a part of it. For everyone reading this: I hope you have a wonderful week and my little story has not bored you. Much love to everyone out there! The text got really long, so please be free to cut out everything that´s too much in your eyes or not relevant. Again: Thank you so so much for considering me for the next SUpStyle magazine. I really look forward to it! Follow Niina on Tumblr: https:// www.tumblr.com/blog/view/ ninaaposts

Beginner builders listen up! If you want to add a little bit of spook to this seasons builds, look no further! I want to show you how you can take the simplest 2 storey box build and add outside features and exterior details to not only improve the look, but also add that
Welcome to Build it better with Slayter_x! I must start off by saying that as a newbie builder myself I found it so intimidating seeing all the amazing builds that fellow simmers have made while I was still making simple box builds (and one storey at that!). After a little digging, I found that although there is step by step and tutorials for builds, I found very little in terms of taking that simple box build’s outside features and the outside physical build to the next step. Now, as it is getting closer to the spooky season, I wanted to show you not only how to take simple steps to improve the outdoor features of your build, but to add subtle features that can add that level of mystery and spookiness to! For this build, several features and alterations to the physical build itself meant a darker themed build overall as well as the other outdoor features. Now, there are several packs which I found to be helpful in creating this build, these were: -Vampires Game pack -Paranormal Stuff Pack -Spooky Stuff Pack. There is some amazing CC out there so if you ever do find that you don’t have, or don’t want to get these packs, it’s a sure thing there will be similar things out there in the CC world! This build lot was placed in the ampire pack world as the surroundings are stunning! The drop behind the lot as well as the use of outdoor plants really adds the extra touch to the build to! For the front and back of the build, Lush Wall Ivy from the Vampire pack was used. The colour was altered from the standard green to a reddy-brown. This completely takes the look to another level as you have gone from a stone look, to a stone look added greenery. The addition of this gives it that nice pop of colour but still leaving it with the creepy and spooky aesthetic.

The addition of a ‘moat’ around the build gave it an older and modern look all in one. The adding of the moat is an older way of adding a bit of ‘forbidden Entry’ to a build, but by adding in the modern stoney goodness slabs from the spa day pack around the moat to, it gives it the modern touch (these can be completely left out if you were wanting a traditional moat). Using the pond scum water option to gives it the decaying look rather than using other ‘prettier’ water options. If you want a realistic yet dirty, rotting water look, the pond scum water option is best. Rather than going for a fence, I opted for the dry rose bush which is also available in the Vampire pack. This combined with a move objects cheat allowed me to layer it, creating a ‘bush fence’ which doesn’t look as neat as tidy as the standard game fences and makes it more realistic in terms of a run-down creepy vibe. Some little added touches that can really take the build to the next level is adding some features to the actual windows. I added the Parlor Trix Cobweb Decal from the Spooky stuff pack as well as adding some spiders (misunderstood spider from the Spooky stuff pack as well). The cobwebs are often used for indoors but by adding to the outdoor windows to you really do add the realism as run-down, older properties will have things like this lurking in the windows. It is a great little addition to a spooky build. I also recommend using statues and add ons to walls as they can really create a whole new vibe. If you find dated items through CC (like old period style statues or wall accessories) they can really add some character to your build. I used the Hanging Werewolf Wall Jumper, again, another item from the Vampire pack. This added a bit of creepy detail that tied off the physical build. Really, there are so many ways to add a spooky and creepy vibe to your build, colours and using outdoor plants can aid this as well as utilising any of the items included in related packs! I really hope you build some fab spooky builds and utilise any CC and decorations within the game.
