ACADEMICS Studying at Simmons will provide you with unique opportunities for leadership, scholarship, activism, and lifelong connections. You’ll graduate prepared not only to work but to lead in your professional, civic, and personal life. Here, you’ll find the best of both worlds: a university with renowned professional and academic programs located in the heart of the dynamic city of Boston, and a tightknit campus community with a small college feel.

Shaping Women Leaders Shaping women leaders is in Simmons’ DNA, dating back to our founding in the 19th century, when John Simmons established the university to offer women the opportunity to lead independent lives through meaningful careers. Today, we recognize that gender inequalities still impact women, and also transgender and nonbinary people and all those who identify outside of traditional gender norms, which makes an inclusive women’s education more important than ever.

Small College Feel, Finding Your Big University Major With the support of your Impact With an 18-acre campus nestled in the heart of Boston, access to amazing internships and jobs, and with over 35 majors available, Simmons offers the opportunities of a big, urban university. But with just over 1,700 undergraduate students and a 7:1 student to faculty ratio, we’re also the perfect environment for you to pursue your education in a close-knit, supportive community.

academic advisor and faculty instructors, you’ll identify your strengths, interests, values, and goals to discover a fulfilling path of study and career course. Many students mix and match majors and minors to create programs as unique as they are.

“I’ve worked alongside amazing students here at Simmons who are out-of-the-box thinkers that have proven their creativity time after time again—regardless of race, religion, and identity.” YASMEEN IBRAHIM ‘22 Business Marketing & Communications Major, Graphic Design Minor

This program offers the chance to enrich your academic and professional interests by funding learning opportunities beyond the boundaries of the traditional classroom. You may apply for up to $4,000 through the program to fund a variety of activities, including global experiences, research, internships, service projects, and creative endeavors.

Our science building houses a state-of-theart 30-bed simulation center. High-fidelity suites include an OB/GYN suite, pediatric suite, emergency room, intensive critical care unit, medical/surgical suites, and a home health suite.

SUMMER UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH PROGRAM AT SIMMONS The Summer Undergraduate Research Program at Simmons is a six-week, intensive summer research and creative scholarship experience for undergraduate students across disciplines. Prior to applying, students identify and work with a faculty mentor to develop and propose a project which will be explored during the intensive. SURPASs scholars receive a $3,000 stipend, a project budget of up to $1,000, and room and board from the end of May to the end of June. UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AND CONFERENCE FUNDS Students may also apply to the Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavors Fund or the Undergraduate Student Conference Fund for up to $300 to support independent research projects, creative endeavors, or conference presentations. THE SIMMONS LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE The Simmons Leadership Conference brings together more than 8,500 professional leaders from around the globe—women and their allies—who want to better themselves, their workplaces, and the world. It’s a chance for attendees to be inspired and energized and also to create new connections with peers from across the world and in different industries.

SCIENCE CLASSROOMS AND LABS Our modern teaching laboratories are designed for high-impact, active-learning teaching and research practices and are capped at 16 students to increase faculty-student interactions. Four faculty-student research clusters foster interdisciplinary collaboration and include a biomedical ultrasound laboratory; a microscopy center; a separation, quantitation, and spectroscopy center, and three level two certified tissue culture and microorganisms laboratories. Our health sciences students also have access to the Holoanatomy and HoloNeuroanatomy software on the Microsoft Hololens 2 MR system. This offers an alternative way to teach anatomy in conjunction with traditional dissection labs, allowing for new levels of collaboration and understanding anatomical structures. LIBRARY The University Library is a comfortable, lightfilled space with a wide variety of study areas, extensive collections, and supportive librarians. Students can book one of 20 group study rooms or choose from active or quiet seating areas on the main and ground floors. The silent study room is accessible 24 hours a day. Course reserve materials are available for check out at the service desk. Students can get research assistance on assignments and papers from librarians in-person or online.

Student-Driven Media Center Student-driven media is a critical component of a Simmons experience. To allow for more collaboration, innovation, and focus, we created the Student-Driven Media Center on the first floor of the Main College Building. Housing the Simmons Radio Station, the Alden Trust Video Studio, dedicated media editing and podcasting suites, and a publications room—a flexible, multi-purpose space—the media center is the first of its kind at Simmons, inviting creativity and collaboration from students working in video, audio, digital, print, or any combination of media.

Makerspace Our new Makerspace, located on the first floor of Palace Road, is a student-led facility for creative activity, entrepreneurial explorations, technology, curricular and cocurricular projects, and community outreach and engagement. The space features a glass wall for visibility, movable furniture for flexible use, and is outfitted with a 3D printer, laser cutting equipment, computerized sewing and embroidery machines, as well as “back to basics” crafts supplies such as yarn and button makers.

Center for Global Education We offer more than 90 different international experiences, including semester and academic year abroad, faculty-led travel courses, internships, and volunteer abroad. You are able to go abroad through a Simmons program via the Center for Global Education or through our Colleges of the Fenway Global Education Opportunities (GEO) Center.
