Design Zhenze Acient Town in the context of Chinese cultural rural landscape based on theory of Slow Tourism anc Slow city
ACIENT TOWNS IN CHINA
China is developing its countryside at a speed and scale unseen in the West. In my thesis I want to study about the sustainable development of the rural against the fast urbanization and the destruction of rural land, through the architectural design and adopting a slow tourism strategy aied on the preservation of the landscape heritage. My case study it’s the cultural landscape of the water villages on the Yangtze River, in specific the case of Zhenze Town, a water town near Suzhou, where I found the main charters for make a sample of how architecture can set in for make a better environment. I’m thinking about a new form of tourism based on the local development of the local villagers and preservation of cultural identity following the theories of the widespread hotel (“albergo diffuso”) and the theories from the Chinese government about the creative/ YANGTZE RIVER DELTA REGIO innovative villages (“创意小村”).

YANGTZE DELTA RIVER
The growth of world tourism is powered by a market f consuming made up by the new middle classes in emerging countries. It is not a matter of elitist tourism but mass tourism. It’s called “fast tourism”, hit and run, based on quantitative development strategies, fuelled byREGION the birth of the “last minute” offers that speed decision making time and making the YANGTZE RIVER DELTA planning of flows extremely difficult, this allows us to seize opportunities for peripheral destinations to have a tourists incoming event are not equipped with a great attraction, but make low-cost journeys convenient. Nowadays “last minute” and “low cost” change the structure of the tourist market by encouraging innovative behaviour strongly oriented towards infidelity and speed, the average stay gradually gets shorter, the tourist becomes RIVER DELTA omnivorous and erratic. Consequently, YANGTZE we have a REGION massification of tourist destinations, all of which come into competition with each other, reaching a global competition. Of course, a tourism with zero impact it’s impossible but “Slow Tourism” it’s a new tourism product for the promotion of minority territory that it’s sustainable and healthier. Life cycle and timing of the local population use to decline, or it suffers from crises due to social environmental emergencies that hyper-consumption entails. In the case of slow tourism, we try to make the social rooting of a population on the territory as stable as possible. Only a widespread tourism, oriented on very diversified and flexible hospitality proposals, can provide new income and those concrete conditions of opportunities for the local communities.

The aim of my research is to create opportunities built in agreement with the local communities of Zhenze oriented to respect the habits and living conditions of the host populations, which value small accommodation facilities with a widespread presence on the territory which pay the populations hosts and trying to avoid all forms of parasitic intermediation. What is the situation of the water towns in the Yangtze River actually? Are they developing well? How we define “well”? What is a sustainable development? With no doubts for me the conservation of the Architectural Heritage, Cultural Landscape and Identity of the population it’s the main aim of my theories in my thesis project, but it has to deal with the development of the city and desire of making better living conditions for the population. So, can “construction” and “conservation” coexist? How can they deal? Is the tourism the unique way of development of that type of village? What are the real needs for the population? As I saw in Wuzhen and Zhuzjiajiao, similar water towns in the Yangtze River, they are already samples of “over tourism”, where almost residents moved out and slowly the town is losing its own daily life activities becoming a “museum village”.
THE REGION OF JIANGNAN
The map pointed out the main acient tows with their features and travel distance between them
In 2011 the total number of householders in Zhenze was 27 743, with a resident population of 78 854 and temporary resident population of 29 300. The town has several titles as China’s flax silk famous textile town, the hometown of Chinese silk quilt, the nation health town, the national environment beautiful town, Jiangsu historical and cultural towns, etc. In April 2015 it was included in the demonstration pilot area of the national town and on October 2016 it was selected as the first batch of towns with Chinese characteristics by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. But, actually the reality of Zhenze Town is an underdeveloped rural village, with serious issues of lack of activities and services, especially the historical centre. One of the biggest problems is the rural depopulation, young people who want a higher level of education and the worker class went to big cities looking for better job opportunities, and families who got better economic conditions moved from the historic centre into new highrise buildings of gated communities in the suburbs area.

The historic centre abandoned to itself has many housing quality issues, such as collapse, sanitary problems, safetybproblems etc. moreover there is a lack of public spaces, local people don’t have a place for gathering. There are many historical architectural importance buildings unicipality has a problem of empty houses. In response to these problems, the “albergo diffuso (widespread hotel) is an optimal solution. In can be defined as a horizontal hotel, located in a village or in a historic centre, with rooms and services located in different buildings, although close to each other. It is addressed to a request interested in staying in an urban context of value, authentic, in contact with the residents, taking advantage of the normal hotel services. This formula is particularly suitable for historical centres of artistic and architectural interest, , which in this way can recover and enhance old closed and unused buildings, combining potential already present in the territory, and at the same time this form of accommodation makes it possible to offer a complete hotel service. The final project consists in: 1) The recovery of historic buildings for a tourist / residential , integrated for some building by the diffused hotel strategy. There are many acient Villa with high historical and architectural value. 2) Project of new residences which will accommodate the new residents in anticipation of a population growth following the socioeconomic development. Maybe aimed to a specific target, us intellectuals, businessman, student etc, that will spend brief period in there (few months or years). 3) The redevelopment of the water front which contains the ideas of new public and commercial spaces (Made a zero-kilometre market in relation with the silk industry). And a big park with urban vegetable garden and space for gathering the social activities of the citizen.

ECO_TURISTIC VILLAGE and SMALL TOURIST STRUCTURES The goal is to create a place where nature lovers can experience one or more days immersed in the unique landscape of the Livenza springs. The project idea develops along some track of the river and in some zones relates to this 4500-year-old area. It involves the expansion of the existing Humus Park with the integration of few sports and educational services and activities, such as the external cycle path that runs alongside the state road and surrounds the area with a second internal cycle-pedestrian track with the function of connection between the different installations and bike sharing/canoe rental service,
The whole complex aim to promoting and enhancing the territory and its production and develops as follows: A _ Exhibition / Hospitality Pavilion, cultural educational areas B _ Residential area / Recreation / Rental for water route C _ Fish shops / Playground / Recreation D _ Adventure Park E _ Bar / Shops typical products F _ Recreation / Observatory Two areas in particular (A and B), which we believed to be of greater importance from an architectural and functional point of view, were subsequently investigated.

THE PROSECCO ROUTE
It is the first project at the first year of University in Venice. I was lucky to meet a capable professor who transmitted me the passion and knowledge to face those five academic years. In that project we could had a comparison between the old and the new, the local culture and the innovation. Through architecture, the goal was to create a new environment and function that would enhance the tourist course of the taverns and the wine. The Prosecco Route in Valdobbiadene is the most famous tourist track to taste the Venetian cuisine and the wines of the north-east of Italy, especially prosecco, originating in these lands
In front of the tavern itself there is an open, two-storey building, which gives its name to the tavern “alla terrazza (on the terrace). The project consists of a development of this fabric, playing with the differences in the height of the land, I created a closed building developed on three floors. You enter from floor 0, contiguous to the terrace, at the same level as the street, and go down to its bedrooms on floor -1 and -2. The project follows guidelines for dimensions such as width and height, to better fit into the context. Each space has its own terrace and glazed grade to better observe and experience the landscape made up of vines

REGENERATION OF TRADITIONAL VERNACULAR SETTLEMENTS
It was a workshop commissioned by the Municipality of MaoGong (Guizhou, China), aimed to propose a development plan. MaoGong is dressing the driving role for many other little rural villages, thanks for his centrality and position in one of the main roads of the Province. They want to become bigger and attracting more tourists and businessmen. Our rule instead was to deal about the strategy.

Maogong Village is the seat of Maogong Township Government and is located on both sides of the Lisong Highway, 42 km away from Liping County, 780 m.a.s.l. There are 365 households in the village, including 1,620 people, divided into 6 groups of villagers. Some middle-aged and older women will sew flower belts and embroider insoles. Cultural landscape: 1 Drum Tower, 1 Flower Sedan, 360 residential areas; 2 of 100-year-old houses; 6 wells; 3 Kamakura; over 100 old trees. There are a total of 12 famous folk craftsmen, including songwriters, opera teachers, palm artists, handicraftsmen, masons, etc. Traditional festivals are the most grand during the Spring Festival.
We discovered the issues of this place, which has many shortcomings regarding the facilities and possibilities typical of rural areas, and at the same time we want to protect their landscape heritage, culture and great traditions and enhance their vernacular buildings and their peaceful rural lifestyle. We do it proposing a strategy that responds to the standards of responsible and sustainable growth

INDUSTRIAL AREA REGENERATION IN TREVISO, VENETO, ITALY
In the north-east of Italy, the economic growth of the sixties changed the predominantly agricultural landscape as it was, in a place with widespread presence of industrial and commercial buildings, often close to residential areas, creating places of spontaneous growth, poorly governed and often inharmonious. Following the economic crisis and the development of production methods, this phenomenon of abandonment occurred, leaving behind the great aesthetic degradation, loss of continuity of the territory. The problem facing architects now is the mending of these widespread properties, and making rational use of the territory, consistent with objectives of sustainability and environmental recovery, ensuring maximum flexibility of the intended uses. By analysing the context, highlight the characteristics and critical issues of the place, identifying the new needs and new functions that can allow you to relive this place. Through the establishment of new activities, services, residential, cultural and recreational functions. In parallel, improve accessibility, infrastructure and the green context
The case study is located on the highway that directly connects Venice and Treviso. In addition to an initial research for the potentials of the area, I carried out an analysis to classify the quality of the fabrics, internal mobility and eventually architectural barriers, in preparation for a project proposal.
