Look within When people want to find their purpose in life they tend to look outside. They look at external events and things in the hope for this desire to be fulfilled. But that’s the backwards way of finding your life’s purpose which doesn’t produce a successful outcome. The very first thing you should do if you want to understand your life’s purpose is to look within. It’s from within that everything manifests, so your Inner Self is the source of all things and events in your life. It’s like a reference book containing all the answers to the questions you will ever have. Utilize this “reference book” by intense self reflection. Still your mind with meditation, connect your mind, body and soul through yoga; Sit quietly for 20 minutes every day. Have a desire to find your purpose in life and know that it will be revealed, sooner or later. Have patience, as it’s needed for the final revealing of the answer to your question. Like any things spiritual, you can only achieve them if you don’t rush. If you try to rush the outcome, it will escape you like a butterfly who seems to always fly away when you’re about to catch it. Look within. Be patient. Pay attention to signs in the external world only for the confirmation of the internal content. The creative energy will reply to your question about the life’s purpose. The time it takes to reply depends on the purity of your mind as well as your attitude. The attitude of infinite patience, openness and non-judgment bring about the answer quickly. Now it’s the perfect time to act on this piece of advice. Sit in a comfortable, preferably meditation posture, and focus on your breathing. Slow down your breathing and keep focusing on your breath as long as you can.
When the mind becomes still, pose a question to it: “What’s my life’s purpose?” If you don’t feel that your mind is still, don’t ask the life’s purpose question – keep sitting quietly every day for some time to still the mind. When the mind finally becomes still, ask the question. After posing a question this way, read the next task to find out what to do now.
Look without When your peace of mind is established and you asked the life’s purpose question, it’s time to look for confirmation signs outside. If you pay attention to the nature and events in your life after asking the question, you will notice that things will become organized in a way that you would understand the answer. You can only understand the answer if you really pay attention to what’s happening in your life. Sometimes people ask what their purpose of life is and then forget to look for answers. It’s the same like asking your friend something and then walking away right before the friend gives an answer. It doesn’t make sense to do that, however most people behave exactly this way in their conversations with God. Don’t make this mistake, therefore, and be very observant when you ask such an important question. If you become sensitive to it, you should feel the energy shifting after such question. It’s like the Universe is altering the reality to make you notice things. I hope you read the first advice I gave in this Life’s Purpose ebook – to take time. Thus if you still have inner turmoil, keep this exercise for later. Ask the question about your life’s purpose only when the seas of your inner self calm down. If you don’t wait for the inner harmony and ask the question, you will definitely not spot the answer, even though it might be staring right at you. That can be compared with trying to spot your reflection in the disturbed water – your reflection won’t reflect you! That’s why it’s crucial to calm the inner waters of your mind to spot the answer.
Try things you never tried before If quieting the inner chaos seems impossible to you and you want to know your life’s purpose now, you can do the task I am about to describe. Sometimes we think that we would suck at something, when in reality, if we would just try those activities, we would quickly excel at them. That’s because, in my opinion, we were involved in those activities in our past lives. That would explain why some people can learn things very quickly, and some, with the same intelligence, learn them slowly. Never be afraid to try out different things. Don’t be put off by any new activity because you are afraid you will waste your time. By actively searching for the purpose of your life in places you normally would not look, you are showing your efforts to the Universe. I, too, had many businesses and tried different things before I arrived at my life’s purpose. The Creative, (the Universe), seeing all the things you do to arrive at your perfect destination finally opens the doors to your true life’s purpose. Along the way you will have so many interesting experiences and so many new friends that you will never think you had wasted your time. Of course most activities that you would engage in would not turn out to be your life’s purpose. But that’s okay, since they will make you richer with knowledge about life and wiser in general. And these things are never bad to acquire! If you can’t think of what new activity to try, look around you! Inspirations can come from everywhere, if you open your mind. Magazines will give you ideas about editorship, design, occupations of people written about. Conversations with friends can suddenly give you an idea about some
job/business/career. Being in nature will open you up to possible careers in Feng Shui, organic farming, wood-work, natural accessories… If you are open to suggestions about what to try out, they will flood your mind! Don’t wait any longer – close this chapter and look around you! When you get an idea about some activity, list it down and try it as soon as you can.
Pose a question to your Higher Self Instead of proactively seeking the purpose of your life, relax and become observant. Pay attention to details, universal nudges. If you ask a question and then become observant, the universe must respond. Sometimes, if we are not in touch with our Higher Self, it takes time for the Universe to get through to us with the answer. Sometimes the answer is in front of us, yet we don’t see it because we are too distant from our true selves. During such moments of ignorance we get confused and dark dreams, indicating that the outside world full of things to do is valued over our Inner Self. Yet dreams still have the power to tell us about our future problems, relationships, gains and so on, if we know how to get such information from them. That brings me to the point of this task. Instead of posing a question about your life’s purpose and looking into the world for signs, we will do this task a little bit differently. You will need to ask your life’s purpose question to your higher self just before falling asleep. When you are about to go into the world of dreams, pose a question to your most sacred self: “What’s my life’s purpose?” Without thinking about anything else, let yourself fall asleep. It’s very important, after asking the life’s purpose question, not to think about anything else so that the answer would come in the clearest form. The answer from such a way of asking a question can come in a symbolic dream or the events of the next morning/day/evening. Usually you won’t have to wait till the next day – the subconscious is very quick in responding when you pose a question before falling asleep.
As soon as you wake up, write down and analyze your dream and pay close attention to what happens during the morning/day/evening. Make your own conclusions using your intuition. To establish a closer link to your Higher Self and thus get more meaningful and clearer dreams, you should address your Higher Self in a prayer, always do good deeds and think about this higher aspect of yourself often.
“Show Me My Life’s Purpose” exercise I’m about to give you a very accurate and interesting way of finding out your life’s purpose. Read the instructions carefully and do exactly as it’s written here. Think about the question of finding your life’s purpose. Think only about this question – completely focus on it. Let the mind be saturated with this question only. Open a book of your choice – any book you come across. If there’s no book around, take a magazine or a booklet. Now close your eyes, open any page and, still with closed eyes, point at the page. Open your eyes and see which word you picked out with your closed eyes. Write it down. Do so four more times. Your subconscious, through the use of the book and the fact that your conscious mind is not interrupting, gives you clues as to what your life’s purpose is. Keep in mind that correct results come through if you are connected to your Higher Self. If the connection is weak, the answers might be a bit inaccurate. Here’s my list of words that I got during this exercise:
And here’s how I interpreted these words:
(The book that I picked up for this exercise was The Richest Man in Babylon which is a great book, by the way!) So the interpretation of these five words pretty much sums up what my life purpose is. I would even say that it can’t get more accurate than this!
Let the diary reveal your life’s purpose For 20 days, write a diary about everything that happens in your life and how you feel. At the end of 20 days, re-read it carefully - search for patterns and activities that always bring happiness and joy into your life. After you finish 20 days of diary writing, ask your most creative friends to visualize you in the way they want. Note down their answers. Are there any common things they all visualize about you? This might point to some inner quality of yours that’s waiting to be discovered and transferred into a life’s work. If you find that the same quality shows up in the pages of your diary, you can be almost certain it’s your life’s purpose. Start working on it to find out for sure! As an addition to this exercise it might be worth looking at your family tree. Sometimes (but only sometimes!) a common life’s purpose runs in families. It’s wise, therefore, to be interested in the history of your ancestors. Who were they, what were their interests? If the careers they had resonate with you and point to things you wrote in your diary, it’s worth trying them out also.
Analyze these 3 pictures Look carefully at this picture and write down everything you think about it and what feelings and thoughts it brings out of you. Take your time – if you rush, this exercise will lose its effectiveness!
Have you noted every single thing that comes to your mind when you look at this picture? Then it’s time to look at the second picture and do exactly the same – note down every thought and feeling it brings out of you:
Have you finished noting down all of your thoughts and feelings associated with the above picture? Then look at the last, third, picture and again note down all it brings out of you:
Finished analyzing all these pictures? Then you can read further down. The purpose of this exercise is to bring out something that’s within you that you are not aware of. I could have given any picture - it would accomplish the same thing. That’s how many esoteric/spiritual systems work – any given system can reveal something about you, such as I Ching or Tarot Cards. In I Ching you throw three coins and the combinations just happen to be right and tell you the exact things you need to know; In Tarot you pick the right cards that give you perfect advice. In this exercise, you describe the random pictures in a perfect way to reveal everything about yourself and your calling.
Why do all these systems work perfectly? Because they give the opportunity for your Inner Self to express itself. Instead of thinking logically and obscuring your Inner Self with your ego, these spiritual ways allow the ego to rest and your Higher Self to take over. Read your writings over and over again. What do they tell about you? What do they tell about your feelings? What do they tell about your circumstances? Take as much time as you can to figure out all your Inner Self is revealing about your goals, priorities and habits. Analyze your writings firstly by focusing on each detail and then looking at the whole. This way you will not overlook what you are trying to tell yourself about your life’s calling. Usually your life’s purpose lies hidden in the positive things you mentioned about the pictures. Analyze, therefore, the positive thoughts and feelings more carefully than the negative ones, when it comes to finding out your life’s purpose. As for the negative things you listed, analyze them deeply. You need to understand why you wrote these negative things and change your mind/behavior so that these negativities would not impact you. Below you will find listed some things that may come out when you look at each picture: 1st picture - your good qualities that might be linked to your life’s purpose; your ideal life. 2nd picture - people might reveal what you need to change about yourself; remember, every person is a mirror of you. 3 rd picture - the details of your life’s purpose; your every day difficulties and habits.
Final notes I hope that this life’s purpose ebook has proved useful to you. The most important thing in reading an ebook as such is to take your time. If you rush, you are bound to be unsuccessful in finding your life’s purpose. If you take time and really work through these tips, you must come across the calling of your life. It’s crucial to find out what your life purpose is because then you can serve the humanity in the best way possible, as well as help your own self. That’s the reason I wrote this ebook in the first place. I wish that your life is blessed with abundance, happiness and purpose. Simona Rich
