2028 Het Nationaal Zwemcentrum de Tongelreep kan onderdeel worden van het prachtige decor van de Olympische Zomerspelen als Nederland gastland wordt. The Tongelreep National Swimming Centre will host the water sports of the Olympic Games if the Netherlands is chosen as host country. 2010 Strijp-S stond bekend als ‘De Verboden stad’. Belangrijke uitvindingen, waaronder de televisie hebben op Strijp-S het daglicht gezien. Momenteel is Strijp-S ‘Dé Creatieve Stad’ in wording. WANDELROUTE / WALKING ROUTE Begin uw wandeling bij de Blob, op het 18 Septemberplein. Het ontwerp is zonder meer indrukwekkend te noemen. Verderop aan de Emmasingel treft u Philips erfgoed aan. Als u met de bocht naar links gaat komt u terecht in een levendige en pittoreske wijk, De Bergen. Via de Bergstraat loopt u langs het Eindhovens Dagblad richting het Van Abbemuseum, een vooruitstrevend internationaal museum voor moderne kunst. Hier kunt u lunchen aan de Dommel. Vervolgens wandelt u richting het designhart van de binnenstad, het Catharina Kwartier. Daar treft u de Smalle Haven: een restaurant, ontmoetingsplek en vintage winkel in één. Eindig uw wandeling met een heerlijk kopje koffie in het stijlvolle grand-café restaurant Meneer Frits op de Markt! Start your walk at the Blob on the 18 Septemberplein. It’s an impressive example of modern architecture. Further along the Emmasingel you’ll find some true Philips heritage. Following the curve round to the left takes you to a lively and picturesque district, The Bergen. Walk along the Bergstraat and past the Eindhovens Dagblad towards the Van Abbemuseum, a prominent international museum of modern art. Here you can enjoy lunch on the banks of the river Dommel. Continue towards the design centre of the city, the Catharina Quarter. This is home to the Smalle Haven: a restaurant, meeting place and vintage shop in one. FIETSROUTE / BIKE ROUTE 1) U begint uw fietstocht bij het VVV-kantoor waar u een â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;genuineâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; bike van Suus Bike Shop kunt huren. U fietst richting de Bijenkorf en gaat via de Vestdijktunnel (1953) onder het spoor door. Na het busstation slaat u rechtsaf richting Nuenen/Helmond. U steekt na de Kennedytoren en het VGZ gebouw over naar de Kamer van Koophandel. 2) U bevindt zich nu op het terrein van de Technische Universiteit Eindhoven, waar jong technisch talent klaargestoomd wordt voor de toekomst. Bij de Kennispoort steekt u de Dommel over. Blijf daarna het fietspad volgen langs de Dommel richting het sportcomplex van de TU/e. Bij het sportcomplex slaat u bij Het Eeuwsel rechtsaf en bij de tweede kruising op De Zaale slaat u linksaf. Fiets over De Zaale richting de uitgang van de TU/e waarna u op de rondweg komt. U slaat hier rechtsaf.

3) Na de Texaco pakt u het linker fietspad naar de Berenkuil, waar Street Art en graffiti te bewonderen is. Sla linksaf de Berenkuil in en vervolgens de eerste tunnel rechts richting Roermond/Valkenswaard. Meteen na de tunnel slaat u linksaf. 4) Na de Insulindetunnel (1973) en de Fuutlaantunnel (1973) slaat u bij de eerste stoplichten rechtsaf de Tongelresestraat in. Fiets de Tongelresestraat uit (1 km) tot u rechts het DAF Museum (tip) tegenkomt. 16 MUST SEE

FIETSROUTE / BIKE ROUTE 5) Na de brug over het Eindhovensch Kanaal slaat u linksaf en direct daarna rechtsaf, op de Breitnerstraat/Lucas Gasselstraat. Bij de Gabriël Metsulaan gaat u rechtsaf. U steekt de Geldropseweg over en gaat alsmaar rechtdoor over de St. Jorislaan. 6) Op het einde van de St. Jorislaan ziet u links de Sint Joriskerk en aan de andere kant van de kruising ligt het Parktheater, aan de Elzentlaan. Achter het Parktheater vindt u het Stadspaviljoen, waar u een lekker kopje koffie kunt drinken. 7) Via de Alberdingk Thijmlaan fietst u langs Hotel Parkzicht met aan de linkerkant een van de grotere parken van Eindhoven, het Stadswandelpark. Aan het eind van de weg fietst u op de Genneper Parken, een mooi stukje natuur in Eindhoven. Ga rechts bij de Boutenslaan en sla na 50m linksaf het fietspad op richting het Historisch OpenluchtMuseum.

8) Aan het einde van het pad gaat u links op de Genneperweg, om na 20 meter meteen weer linksaf het Tongelreeppad op te gaan. U komt vervolgens uit bij de Genneper Hoeve (tip). Hier kunt u van de rondscharrelende dieren en allerlei producten van ‘eigen erf’ genieten. 9) Vervolg uw weg op het Tongelreeppad. U gaat rechtdoor het zandpad op (niet linksaf) om op de Antoon Coolenlaan uit te komen. Sla hier rechtsaf. 18 MUST SEE

E | Genneper Parken

FIETSROUTE / BIKE ROUTE 10) Aan de rechterkant ligt het Paviljoen Genneper Parken waar u kunt genieten van een drankje of een potje midgetgolf. Sla na het Paviljoen Genneper Parken rechtsaf terug de Genneperweg op, richting het Milieu Educatie Centrum (MEC). 11) U fietst door tot het MEC waar u ook het inspirerende Heempark (tip) en de Genneper Watermolen kunt bezichtigen. Vervolg de Genneperweg richting de Gestelsestraat waar u rechtsaf slaat. Bij de kruising met de rondweg ligt aan de linkerkant het pittoreske restaurant Gusto, met een heerlijke diverse keuken. 12) Steek de Boutenslaan over en vervolg uw weg op de Gestelsestraat. Hier vindt u allerlei leuke winkeltjes, zoals Artifacts waar bijzondere designmeubelen en accessoires te koop zijn. Bij het knusse restaurant EGE kunt u genieten van de authentieke Turkse keuken. 13) Aan het einde van de Gestelsestraat gaat u rechts de Hoogstraat op om vervolgens bij de kruising over te steken naar het Bergen gebied, het Quartier Vivant van Eindhoven. Op de Grote Berg slaat u linksaf de Kleine Berg op en fietst u via de Kleine Berg (met de bocht mee) naar de Keizersgracht en het centrum van Eindhoven. 14) Sla op de Keizersgracht linksaf over de Emmasingel richting de Witte Dame om uw tocht te eindigen bij restaurant

Usine, gevestigd in de Lichttoren. Via het 18 Septemberplein, waar de Blob ligt, komt u weer uit bij het VVV-kantoor, waar u bent gestart.

1) Your cycle route begins at the VVV office where you can hire a ‘genuine’ bike from Suus Bike Shop. Start by cycling towards the Bijenkorf and through the Vestdijktunnel (1953), under the railway line. Turn right after passing the bus station and head towards Nuenen/ Helmond. After the Kennedy Tower and the VGZ building, cross the road towards the Kamer van Koophandel (Chamber of Commerce). 2) You are now in the grounds of the TU/e (Technical University Eindhoven), where young, technical talents are shaped for the future. Cross the Dommel River at the Kennispoort and follow the cycle path along the Dommel towards the TU/e’s sport complex. At the sport complex turn right, at Het Eeuwsel, and take another left at the second crossroads on De Zaale. Cycle over De Zaale towards the exit of the TU/e and turn right at the roundabout. 3) After the Texaco garage, take the left-hand cycle path into the Berenkuil (shown on the map) which showcases some amazing Street Art and Graffiti. Take the first tunnel on the right in the Berenkuil, towards Roermond/Valkenswaard. Turn left directly after the tunnel.

FIETSROUTE / BIKE ROUTE 4) After the Insulindetunnel (1973) and the Fuutlaantunnel (1973), turn right at the first traffic lights onto the Tongelresestraat. Cycle along this road (1km) until you reach the DAF Museum (tip) on your right-hand side, a museum definitely worth a visit.

5) After crossing the bridge over the Eindhovensch Kanaal, turn left and then right onto the Breitnerstraat/ Lucas Gasselstraat. Turn right at the Gabriël Metsulaan. Cross the Gelderopseweg and keep on going straight on the St. Jorislaan.

6) At the end of the St. Jorislaan you’ll see the St. Joris Church and diagonally opposite is the Parktheater on the Elzentlaan. Nearby you will find the Stadspaviljoen where you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee. 7) Cycle along the Alberdingk Thijmlaan past Hotel Parkzicht with one of the city’s largest parks, the Stadswandelpark, on your left. At the end of the road the cycle route takes you into the Genneper Parken, an impressive area of natural beauty. Turn right on the Boutenslaan and after 50m turn left 20 MUST SEE

FIETSROUTE / BIKE ROUTE onto the cycle path towards the Historisch OpenluchtMuseum (Historical Open Air Museum). 8) At the end of the cycle path turn left onto the Genneperweg and again left after 20m onto the Tongelreeppad. This takes you to the Genneper Hoeve (farmstead - tip). Pause here to enjoy the free-roaming farm animals and to buy organic, home-grown products. 9) Continue along the Tongelreeppad, onto the sand path (not to the left) and you will reach the Antoon Coolenlaan. Turn right here.

13) At the end of the Gestelsestraat, turn right onto the Hoogstraat and then cross over at the crossroads to enter The Bergen district, Eindhoven’s very own Quartier Vivant. Once on the Grote Berg, turn left onto the Kleine Berg (follow the bend in the road) and towards the Keizersgracht and Eindhoven’s city centre. 14) Turn left at the Keizersgracht onto the Emmasingel towards the Witte Dame (White Lady). Your journey ends at Usine, housed in the Lichttoren (Light Tower). Across the 18 Septemberplein, where you can see the Blob, you’ll be back at the VVV office, where your tour began.

10) To the right is the Paviljoen where you can enjoy a drink, bite to eat or a round of miniature golf. Turn right after the Paviljoen back onto the Genneperweg towards the MEC (Environmental Education Centre). 11) Cycle to the MEC where you can visit Heempark (tip) and the Genneper Watermolen. Follow the Genneperweg towards the Gestelsestraat and turn right here. You’ll see the picturesque restaurant Gusto where the road meets the roundabout, the perfect place to have a drink or a bite. 12) Cross over the Boutenslaan and follow the road onto the Gestelsestraat. Here you’ll find several little shops such as Artifacts for all kinds of design items. Also located here is a cosy, authentic Turkish restaurant, called EGE.

Het Philips Stadion is de thuisbasis van de grootste trots van heel Eindhoven, voetbalclub PSV. Het stadion, waarvan het veld nog op dezelfde plek ligt als in 1913, is niet weg te denken uit het stadscentrum. Met onder meer zeven landskampioenschappen in de laatste tien jaar heeft PSV ervoor gezorgd dat Eindhoven ‘Voetbalhoofdstad’ van Nederland is. Ook wordt het Philips Stadion gebruikt voor concerten, zoals die van Guus Meeuwis. Maar dat is niet het enige want PSV heeft ook uitstekende zakelijke faciliteiten. The Philips Stadium is home to Eindhoven’s pride: PSV football club. The stadium, with its pitch still in exactly the same place as in 1913, is a fixed feature of the city centre. Eerst maar naar de nieuwe Portiersloge, waar een mega-maquette en reuze iPad u vertellen wat er de komende jaren staat te gebeuren. En vooral waar u nu al moet zijn. In het Klokgebouw misschien, domein van kunstenaars en ondernemers uit de creatieve en culturele industrie. Onder in de imposante evenementenhallen trekken festivals als STRP, Extrema en the Dutch Design Week massa’s bezoekers, tot ver buiten ’s lands grenzen. Kijk ook even om de hoek bij Popei, bakermat van Rock City (met een piekfijn terras tegenwoordig!). Op naar Monk Bouldergym. Zou zo maar een EK of WK bezig kunnen zijn. First there’s the new ‘Gate house’ where a mega-model and a giant iPad explain the developments planned for the coming years as well as what there is to see here and now. Perhaps you’ll choose the Klokgebouw, home to artists and young businesses from the creative and cultural industries. The imposing events halls on the ground floor have housed festivals like STRP, Extrema and Dutch Design Week, attracting a multitude of visitors from far outside the Dutch borders. You can also take a look round the corner at Popei, home of Rock City (and with a lovely terrace!). And then on to Monk Bouldergym where there’s every chance a national or international competition is taking place. If not you could give it a try yourself! Het Van Abbemuseum is één van de meest toonaangevende Europese musea voor hedendaagse kunst. Een bron van verwondering, inspiratie en verbeelding. Op zondag is er tevens een gratis rondleiding die om 12:00 uur vanaf de infobalie van start gaat. Tijdens de eerste zondag van de maand staat de rondleiding in het teken van de architectuur van het gebouw. Op de andere zondagen staan de collectie en de tentoonstellingen centraal.
