PARAMETRIC PATTERN
The concept of this skin is based on the old coffered ceiling already used in old buildings like Pantheon or Basilica di Massenzio. The aim is reproduced a basic lacunar that fits in a freeform ceiling surface. This is very useful in the restoration projects as anastylosis method.

The Voronoi Wall is a test to experiment the subdivision of space through new mathematical functions, in this case the Dirichlet’s tasselation. Also in this work the base surface is a freeform one, so it’s possible understand how this kind of software can work in different situations. An other important point is the use of the mesh plugin to have a tridimensional structure of the wall.
This kind of pattern is based on the disposition and the section of the filiform taste buds. Moreover on the outside the slits have different lengths, as in the taste buds, allowing to have different amounts of light. the use of parametric softwares gives also the possibility to recreate something inspired by nature and by applying this concept even to deeper themes it is possible to recreate structures and behaviors that with normal modeling software would be impossible, as happens in Neri Oxman’s bio-architecture works.
SCULPTURE WALL
MORPHIC VASE
LIGHT CIRCLES
This wall differs from the other wooden walls due to the dynamism of its boards. This gives a different perception than the static architecture seen so far. The wall has been built with an algorithm based on attractor points, so it will be possible create infinnite configuration
This vase is born starting from a simple base curve, which is deformed through parabolic and hyperbolic movements, thus obtaining this form proper to the parametricist style.
The concept behind Light Circles is to recreate a responsive window, which through hardware connection systems such as Arduino, we can manage the amount of light inside through the smartphone, creating figures like curves or point on the screen that will act as an attractor to turn the circles of ninety degrees.

OPTIMIZATION
Another of the goals that I have set myself in using this type of software is to test its various components. In this test the minimum surface existing between two circles placed at a certain distance was calculated. The test was carried out both using the galapagos optimization plugin and the kangaroo physical engine, evaluating the accuracy of the physical engine through surface optimization
In this case is proposed an optimization of a pattern. This study is based on the Mashrabiya pattern of the Al-Bahr Towers in Dubai. The Algorithm is made with the plug-in Ladybug considering the incident light on the surface.
This case study show how is possible optimize the cost of the building envelope making a clusters of objects. The goal of the algorithm is to optimize the number of panel clusters (inside which we have panels similar to each other) so that the cost of the elements that make up the building envelope is lowered.

... NEXT PROJECTS
I want to explain my point of view on the use of parametric design. I don’t want to write the history of parametricism from Ghery to Patrik Schumacher, but I think that all people who want to work in this field must know how parametricism is born, because many architects, engineers and designers who work or not with parametric tools do not have well clear the potential of what they use. Many people think that parametric design is just a wicked use of funny and crazy curves, mesh and nurbs, which with normal modeling tools are difficult to handle, but in my opinion the concept is deeper and more intrinsic than this. At the basis of this new trend we should consider the possibility of optimization that these software offer us; in an era increasingly concentrated on the concepts of sustainability and savings these elements can be put as a powerful design tool safeguarding from the design phase different areas such as those related to light, paneling, material consumption, standardization and many others. Many people think these software stop creativity, but in reality they not only allow you to have a better imagination than the classic design, but they also open other doors to the imagination in aspects related to optimization
SELF PLAN - The goal of this algorithm is to create an optimized apartment plan on the main spaces giving as input only the perimeter. SELF BUILDING - This was born in response to the previous one. Imagining having a building volume, the algorithm has to divide it into apartments (intelligently) knowing the number of people (single or family) who will live in the residence. NATURAL SKIN - At the basis of this there is not only the definition of the algorithm, but also the knowledge of new responsive materials (for example retractable) in order to optimize the light entered through the skin of the building

SL Holenkwartier Amsterdam, Holland
Holenkwartier is Hoorn’s new housing and working area. Hoorn will be created on the site of the former Philipsterrein. It was an industrial area and the factory sheds will be kept in regeneration, Holenkwartier will be an innovative urban district with a mix of life, work, culture and relaxation. In this case the focus is on the Hoorn tower, defined following the method branded by Marc Koehler: Superlofts. The purpose of this is to define loft prefabricated modules that can be recombined several times and in different ways. No less important is the ability to modify the space of the Loft over time according to the principles dictated by the concept of Open Buildings.
AXO APARTMENTS The designed apartments, in addition to defining the internal environments, show how it is possible to have different spaces and measures of lofts through the same prefabricated module.

SPOT is located in the middle of Amstel III and is part of the largest transformation of this area of Amsterdam. What is currently still an office district will soon be a new residential area. Marc Koehler Architects (MKA) together with MEI Architects won the competition for the construction of one of the towers. the idea is to create a tower about 90 meters high with a mixed residential commercial ground floor. part of the plinth will also be affected by the construction of a ramp both in the court of the plinth and inside on several levels to allow cycling.

Part of the study focused on the analysis of the facade, considering both the arrangement of full and empty spaces and the different composition of materials. Another basic concept was to create a sort of golden thread to crown the plinth made through a wooden village. Thus there are also different types of residences.

UniCal Technology LC Rende, Italy
The unique Technology Learning Center is designed as a cultural and work center to be annexed to the University of Calabria. The design process was totally carried out through a Parametric method in the following phases: - Form Finding of the building envelope (Kangaroo) - Clustering and paneling optimization (Galapagos) - Calculation and optimization of Daylight Factor (Diva) - Truss structure calculation (RFem) The parametric process was totally based on the design of the enclosure, defining a possible method to be used in Facade Engineering.
The image shown shows the part of the paneling optimization process, where the different cluster levels of the panels are defined. The optimization was based on the definition of an algorithm that considered the costs of building the panel.
AXONOMETRIC VIEW These two axonometric images serve to represent the complexity of the space. From the first in the upper right corner the different types of environment and functions are defined. The central image shows the different stratification of layers as well as the interpolation between the different levels and the structure.

Architectural competition - Honorable Mention The boarding school of the design competition represents the completion of the new regional education center. The new boarding school will be housed in the building called “Dépendance ex-Brambilla cotton mill” in via Frère Gilles of the Municipality of Verrès. The guiding objective focuses on the importance of the student and the quality of the training experience. Making high school, technical and professional education simpler, more accessible and attractive. The boarding school is not intended as a dormitory, but as a place of experience and personal growth of students, of dialogue and development of social and civil awareness and as a privileged place of meeting, inclusive, where positive synergies can be activated between motivated and brilliant students and guys who need support and help. A very important role is assigned to the after-school and extracurricular activities that the boarding school will host, also favoring the opening of the school complex.

SUPERLOFTS WEBSITE The Superlofts website was created by Marc Koehler to sponsor his brand. The idea is to create new residential buildings based on his experience gained over the years in the use of prefabricated products and in new ways of living. Superloft presents itself as a high quality product at low costs, modifiable over the years according to the concept of Open Buildings.
1
PLUG & PLAY APARTMENTS One of the contents made for the website was design the style of the Plug & Play Apartments. The apartments were the same designed for the SL Tower in Hoorn, which were used to explain the concept of modularity and Open Buildings underlying the Superlofts brand. The idea was to use the sizes of the clothes (faster to understand) and describe the layout of the apartment by imagining a possible user.
Four of the possible layout apartments.
GIF & VIDEO Another goal was to create simple-to-read content to explain how Superlofts’ towers or buildings can simply adapt to the environment and the Neighborhood around them. Different animations with different styles have been designed, looking for the most readable and simple one. In this case, only frames of the entire animation are presented

This is a collection of part of the content created for the WAF. Part of the works already proposed in the same portfolio during the internship at MKA were used as well as other plans, axonometries and details.
SKULPT
UniCaLab Competition SKULPT
Lamp Generation
The concept behind the SKULPT project is to create exclusive and unique furnishing objects, objects that only a craftsman can produce. My group and I, with the knowledge acquired on parametric design, we wanted to overturn this sentence by imagining a new artistic figure: the digital craftsman.
3
One of the first objects made was the floor lamp. Through the design of a parametric algorithm and the Rhino modeling software (with Grasshopper) it was possible to create the first family of lamps. The peculiarity of the method is to create families of objects with recognizable aesthetic characteristics, but different from each other.
The construction method of these objects is inspired by the different machines that technology makes available, such as numerical control machines, 3D printers or similar. Obviously the algorithm is inextricably linked to the method of construction of the various artifacts, therefore already considered in the design phase.
Web Site & Social network Engagement methods were different. The first step was to create a landing page that began to make the brand and the idea known so as to receive external feedback to improve the idea itself (Lean-type approach). Furthermore, another useful tool for growth were the Social Networks, which allowed us to better structure the brand and understand if the idea could also work at an international level. Cardboard Pen Holder
One of the first objects made was the cardboard pen holder. The method of realization was through the gluing of 15 sections. the concept behind it was to create a useful object that at the same time was sustainable both economically and ecologically. The idea behind it was to use waste material, such as Amazon paper.
Work 01
The project was proposed during the XVII international architecture exhibition at the Venice biennale in collaboration with the Dutch university TU Delft. The plan was to redefine the vocation of some areas of the most important Dutch cities, which despite their position struggled to emerge. Specifically, my group worked on the Fellenord junction in Eindhoven by designing a large platform that crosses the station surrounded by buildings optimized in various aspects and with complex functions between public and residential.
