____
Your most reoccurring letter is now find your design style listed below Traditional Style has a classic, timeless look and feel. This style tends to be found in formal spaces but can have a relaxed look. The furnishings are usually reproductions with attention to detail, elegance, and high-quality finishes. Traditional accessories usually consist of still-life oil paintings, shiny finishes, symmetrical arrangements, colors inspired by nature and warm wood tones. The look is usually consistent throughout with no mixing from different eras or styles.
B.
Mid-Century Modern Style is influenced by architecture, furniture, and graphic design from the late 1930’s - 1960’s. The furnishings are usually multipurpose pieces that can be bent/stacked/folded with no busy ornamental details or curves. This style uses a lot of bright colored accents, warm woods, glass, flat planes, geometric lines and open design concepts.
C.
Eclectic or Eclecticism by definition means “borrowing from many sources” or “lack of consistency in furnishings, color and accessories”. This style can be formal or casual based on preference. Eclecticism includes a mixture of styles from different eras to create a design that is aesthetically pleasing.
D.
Rustic/Farm-House Modern Style is a blend of casual country with the clean, sophisticated lines of modern style. The furnishings are usually a mixture of worn, distressed woods that can be accented with polished metal/steel/glass. Furnishings can also have an uneven painted finish or stone surfaces. The colors used in this style are light and neutral with a lot of whites and creams. Accessories found in this style sisal rugs, cotton or linen fabrics.
E.
Industrial Style is inspired by old factories and industrial spaces. Abandoned warehouses from the 1940’s (after manufacturing left the city) were renovated into “loft” homes with high ceilings, open layouts, and large windows. This style tends to be more contemporary because of its stripped down architecture and simplicity. You will find qualities like exposed brick/ ductwork/beams/pipes, weathered wood, concrete, and utilitarian objects. Neutral tones are usually showcased in this style, however you can also find pops of color in certain designs.
F.
Contemporary Style is a clean-lined look that is minimalist without being too modern. It is a blend of modern materials with classical aesthetics. You can find furnishings with clean lines without adornment like you find in traditional style. The furniture found is typically lighter woods (with minimal wood grain), glass, stainless steel or metal. Contemporary accessories usually consist of geometric/bold colored prints, tone-on-tone color palettes, abstract or exaggerated paintings. Join The Conversation #StyleAndFunction
