On the middle is steel framework which give a perception of lightness and rustiness, blends with its repetition of patterns. On bottom is timber blinds that in nature is flexible and permeable to air, tied by string, it seems that it is floating in the air.
EPHEMERALITY OF PETALING STREET The photomontage try to show the rapid change in Petaling Street between 1970 and 2018. Development has bring tourist, sun shading cover and economics but also lead to traffic, influx of immigrants and no more “walking friendly street. Made with pleated geometry, the design allow viewer to perceive it not just by eyes but also by walking.

TEXTURE 2.0
Left: Texture of plastered bricks showing great thickness to emphasize its mass.
Middle: Texture of steel frame that emphasizes on its repetitive pattern.
Right: Texture of timber blinds which folded in a way to show its flexibility.
INNOVATING TEXTURE #1 The original timber texture was further developed to become a new and innovative form that will be integrated into building faรงade and space. Here, the timber pieces were bended in a manner which showcase the flexible nature of material. Doing so increase the porosity of the surface, allowing more air and light to penetrate through. Curvature of the timber pieces also create varying light and shadow gradient in response to light sources position.
Below: Concept of the new texture. Right: Light and shadow gradient along timber pieces.
INNOVATING TEXTURE #2 The original bricks texture was rearranged to replace void to solid and void. Here, the brick pieces were arranged in a manner which showcase allow larger area to be created. Doing so also increase the porosity of the surface, allowing more air and light to penetrate through.
