TEAM 14 SELECTED!

After a thorough application process 35 new KaosPilot aspirants have been selected for the new Team 14 – though not landed yet. Landed has however Team 13, who went through the same process last year. Read what made them wanna be a KaosPilot. Also read what a KaosPilot education can lead to having left the air base in Mejlgade, Aarhus. …Lying thousands upon thousands of kilometres from Baghdad – the distance long, the life conditions even further away. You can find the documentation for this visiting the web documentary series about life in Baghdad, initiated by a dear KaosPilot International board member, Laurie Meadoff. Back in Denmark the summer holiday is coming up, also for the editor. Therefore, we made a calendar to keep you posted on the most important KaosPilot events during June-August. Join the events when possible and remember: the KaosPilots is also about socializing and meeting at the dance floor...;-) Looking forward to get back with recharged batteries and new news by the end of August!

NoRtH aMeRiCaN KaOsPiLoT By November Sky (USA), Team 13 Today we talk about being “change ready” and I often think back to that moment in October, sitting at work and within minutes deciding that I was not only going to apply to the KaosPilots but that I was in fact going to get on Team 13 and move to Denmark to study in Aarhus….

From tribal fighting in Basra to consensus democracy in Århus. By Torben Brandt (Denmark), Team 13 One year ago, I was on patrols with the Danish military in Basra, Iraq. Besides the roadside bombs, rocket attacks, tribes fighting in 100 years old disputes and the heat, I was thinking a lot about the KaosPilots….

hometown baghdad Together with burning for the KaosPilots, the KaosPilot International board members burn for a lot of other agendas. Laurie Meadoff (US) is a KaosPilot International board member – and the producer behind Hometown Baghdad, an on-going web documentary series about life in Baghdad putting new standards to reality TV. The series follows the lives of a few Iraqi 20-somethings who want to show the world what life is like when your hometown is a war-zone. The key figures see the world from the upper-middleclass point of view – a quite conscious aiming trying to reach the Western YouTube-generation at eye-level. An aiming so far a global hit. Close to 2 million videos have been viewed and the series has received good press in the international press – lately with a full page press description in one of the biggest opinion forming newspapers in Denmark, Information. Hometown Baghdad is a production of NY-based Chat the Planet who worked with a group of Iraqi film makers in Baghdad. Chat the Planet is a global dialogue company connecting people from around the world to talk about everything from politics, prejudices and war to sex, music and life in general.
