INTRODUCTION

Everything moves. That much should be clear. Stories are passed on, thus moving, life is passed on, people travel, matter changes form and moves in the process, blood flows, minds change and even identities are liquid. Nothing stays the same, nothing is still. The world is, in a deep and fundamental way, in motion. The following work by It's all good explores the concept of traveling or moving. The material deals with our attraction toward that other place, undefinable as it may be – with what resounds from somewhere beyond our immediate horizon. It deals with personal transformation and psychological journeys mirrored in physical travels and the act of wandering through a city. And it deals with stories about weird strangers – half-truths that travel through the historical grapevine on a caravan with the other characters in the ongoing ‘circus sideshow’. It’s all good is the collaboration between a group of friends working with graphic design, photography, journalism and illustration in commercial and artistic contexts.

BEFORE ARRIVAL YOU MUST TRAVEL The following material was produced in a game of image-making – a visual exploration of the concept of a journey. The game was played leading up to the Somewhere Else exhibition. Each picture in the series was made with the previous as its inspiration, and then became the point of departure for the one to follow. That is, one artist produces something, the next artist responds, the third reacts to that and so forth.
