In-House Training Programme Level 2 Mastery Who is this training for? Mastery is for business professionals who might already be confident and competent presenters, but know there is always room for improvement. At this level participants will often be working towards a specific goal such as preparing and practising for an important customer sales pitch, company meeting or annual conference. Mastery is all about learning how to deliver in a way that’s just right for the individuals personality and for the audience. Participants will learn just what they need for the situation – which may include how to: • Deliver in an interactive and engaging manner • Adapt the content for different audience types • Stop wasting time practising inefficiently • Run exercises or activities with 100% success • Eloquently handle difficult questions • Learn and remember your presentation easily • Convey complex information succinctly • Discover your individual presentation style • Influence and persuade the audience • Use hands and voice to complement the message • Tell stories that inspire • Maximise PR opportunities to raise company/personal profile

Who is your trainer? I’m Dee Clayton – a motivational speaker, public speaking trainer and author of the book “Taming Your Public Speaking Monkeys – Building Confidence for Public Speaking and Presentations”. Having over 25 years’ business experience enables me to bring a real understanding of what you need to flourish in a business environment. I’ll share how to structure and tailor different presentation or talk formats to get maximum results along with time-saving shortcuts. I use down-to-earth techniques that really work. I know they are effective because I use them when I pitch for business, and I’ve won work in the UK, Europe and the US against companies many times my size. I won’t ask you to do anything I haven’t tried myself or used successfully countless times.

In-House Training Programme Level 2 Mastery How long is the programme? For team presentation skills training I use a blended learning approach so participants join a wider “programme”. In addition to the live training participants get a copy of my book to read in advance, have 2 x individual telephone coaching calls and are given appropriate optional home study (including Insights Discovery personality profiles) to allow them to gain maximum benefit from the programme. In Mastery training most of the focus is on the last 5 of the “7 Steps to Being Simply Amazing” process. You can see the full details in the programme structure outlined below. The live training element is designed to span two days meaning you leave practised and ready to deliver a major presentation in front of a large or small, but important audience. How is the programme structured? Participant Pre-Preparation Participants each receive a copy of my book(s) 2-4 weeks before the course and are encouraged to complete exercises and bring answers with them to training. They begin the “7 Steps to Being Simply Amazing” process by completing personal self-reflection exercises and completing their Insight Discovery online questionnaire. Time allocation: 2-4 hours. Session 1 – Coaching Call Each participant is booked in for a preparation session, a 30-minute call which helps them to feel prepared, comfortable and motivated. It also enables me to understand participants speaking situations, needs and challenges. Then I tailor the live training for the individuals attending the course. Session 2 – Live Training In day 1 of live training I take participants through my unique “7 Steps to Being Simply Amazing” process which has worked effectively for over 6 years. I’ll begin by briefly overviewing the first two steps Catch and Connect and Tame to refresh participants about nerves and identify any minor issues that may be hindering their performance, but as participants are already confident about speaking we will quickly move on to step three – Presentation Style. Using a blend of the participants experience, my observation and Insights Discovery personality profiling – we’ll uncover participant’s strengths and weaknesses and identify the best presentation style to suit the participant and their speaking environment.

In-House Training Programme Level 2 Mastery How is the programme structured? Continued... Session 2 Next we’ll cover Content Principles – participants will learn the 4 pillars of structure and engaging content – a critical, but often missed part of the presentation process. Participants will apply this theory to their own relevant case study presentation, practise it and see how it feels to deliver their content using this new approach. The next step is to easily Learn and Remember the case study presentation or talk. We do not learn “parrot fashion” as being tied to a script causes so many problems in itself. We will not over-rely on slides because that creates “death by PowerPoint” situations. Instead I share unique preparation techniques in simple stages, which suits all learning styles, to help participants to learn and remember their content. Dee giving constructive, immediate,

personalised feedback Engaging Delivery – Participants now learn techniques to get all their points into the presentation yet remain natural and allow their personal style to come through. There is room for being impromptu whilst remaining on track and on time. Participants learn advanced delivery skills like developing executive presence, using hands to add to the message not distract, visual aids and tone of voice. Participants also learn Advanced Influencing Techniques which work with even the toughest of audiences! These techniques include using metaphors to motivate, overcoming objections through storytelling and utilising the power of persuasive language.

Participant Home Study A gap between day 1 and day 2 may be required for participants to review their learnings and adapt their presentations accordingly. This varies from one day to several weeks. Session 3 – Live Training In day 2 of live training we commit the day to further Engaging Delivery and the final step – Practise and Review. Participants get plenty of on their feet time receiving peer and trainer feedback. The high level, detailed and constructive feedback covers a range of techniques from body language and voice, to structure and positioning. I draw on my 25 years of business experience; listening to agency pitches, attending and organising conferences, launching new products and gaining buy-in from boards, and combine that with my NLP knowledge; helping presenters to become more emotionally intelligent and aware of the audience. Presenters learn and practise techniques to become more engaging and authentic in their personal style and approach too. Session 4 – Phone Call A few weeks after the course, each participant schedules a personal coaching call lasting 30 minutes. It’s a great opportunity to Review together a “real life” talk. I also ensure they are setting goals and taking action so they continue to improve long after the programme is completed.

In-House Training Programme Level 2 Mastery How many people in a group? I work with a maximum of 4 participants at a time to ensure that there is enough time for each participant to practise what they learn. I can bring in additional trainers for a larger group, if necessary.

What are the benefits of learning in a group? As well as improving your presentation skills, it’s a great team-building experience because you really bond and learn a lot about each other in the process. Participants take turns at presenting, and provide each other with (supervised) constructive feedback, encouraging peer-to-peer learning and development long after the training has finished. What level is the course? This is a Level 2 course suitable for strong presenters. Mastery is for business professionals who are already confident speakers who may present fairly frequently or do not have major fears or concerns around presenting. They want to raise their game to be more and achieve more. Participants often have a specific talk in mind, for example an industry conference or sales pitch. I also offer a Level 1 course which suits most managers and senior managers.

About Dee Clayton

Your Presentation Skills Mentor Dee Clayton specialises in enabling individuals and organisations to overcome their public speaking fears and communicate their message clearly in a way which makes audiences want to engage and ultimately take action. She is author of the book “Taming Your Public Speaking Monkeys – Building Confidence for Public Speaking and Presentations” which outlines her unique, innovative and effective approach for which she has won 7 awards including “Business Person Of The Year” – East of England Business Champions Award for two consecutive years.

Dee developed a passion for NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and uses this to help people achieve a positive, not fearful mindset. She is a Certified Trainer of NLP (meaning she can certify Practitioners and Master Practitioners) and a Trainer Member of ANLP International (Association of NLP). She is also honoured to be the Marketing Director for ANLP CIC. Dee has had several prestigious speaking engagements – including being interviewed on the ITV News at Ten, Conference Speaker at the Association Of Bid & Proposal Management Professionals, and co-trainer at India’s first ever NLP accredited training in Mumbai. In her exploration of audience dynamics, Dee has done Dee Clayton guest speaker at AVA conference. some stand-up comedy which, in addition to enabling her to test her own “fear monkey” techniques, has helped her make learning fun. Dee is also an accredited “Insights Discovery” Practitioner, bringing an in depth understanding of audience types, presenters’ personality styles and how to make the most of their strengths.

Dee’s passion for commercial communications was recognised upon graduating with a 2:1 in Business and Marketing when she was awarded The Cooperative Prize for Best Marketing Student. She holds a Diploma of Industrial Studies and a Chartered Institute of Marketing Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing. Prior to setting up Simply Amazing Training Ltd, Dee worked on a wide range of products in different company settings. Her experience took her from Jacob’s Creek to Jammie Dodgers, Bernard Matthews to Boddingtons and Marigolds to Murphy’s developing expertise across many communication tools including TV advertising, international event sponsorship and conferences. With over 25 years of management experience her background ensures clear advice and guidance is given on presentation content, strategy and techniques.
