I" t’s personal,” owner and founder Becca Pento says. This is the main component in everything loVELO does. Pento, a Kansas City native, grew up on bikes. She remembers riding on the handlebars of her brother’s bike as a child. Now, as a mom, she incorporates cycling into everything she can.

She loves to ride with her family at home, and she uses these family adventures as a way to explore when traveling. This is why it was only fitting for her to open her own cycling studio. Located in downtown Overland Park, loVELO is a small, boutique-style fitness studio with multiple kinds of workouts available. First, there is a cycling class. Pento knows that people who join her cycling class have many different body types and needs. “Nobody has the same shape, body, or skeleton. It is important to understand what everyone goes through and put that into a small group workout.” From accommodating knee replacements to someone who wants to do long distance rides, she can customize the workout and make sure it works for your body and goals. This includes endurance level, health concerns, or other limitations. Pento prides herself in taking those needs into account and making everyone feel comfortable. She even choreographs the music of the cycling class to match the changing intensity. “I normally am not one for group classes,” one of loVELO’s customers says. “And I never considered a spin class. But a friend of mine asked me to join so I went just to be nice. And I was so surprised. It’s a group class, but really it’s just me on a bike. I can close my eyes and zone out. Only I know how hard I can go and only I know if I’m not giving my all. It forces me to

get real with myself. However, I love the accountability of having others there.” The customer adds that the thing they didn't expect was the camaraderie and sense of family that emerged as they continued to attend. “If we don't have class or I can’t attend, I find myself missing the physical exertion and missing the people,” they explain. “It’s been a great experience for me and I am so excited to add this to my health journey!” Even if you are not into cycling, there are other workouts that will appeal to you. If you are looking to improve your flexibility, try loVely flex. It is about flexibility and mobility. “I believe flexibility is overlooked. I use internationally certified programs. It focuses on ligaments and lengthening. We’ve seen great results with this,” explains Pento. MoBallity is a mat-based workout with the use of a fusion ball. This is a strength training class where you use fusion balls as well as weighted hand balls.

Last, there is Bootility which is a circuit-based, energetic class created by David, one of the coaches at loVELO. He is encouraging, motivating, and helpful. And if you need a reward for your workout, there is sometimes even champagne at the end of a class if someone has something to celebrate. Find out more by visiting loVELO’s website or stopping by their location.
