Donna Follick, better known as Miss Donna, has been fitting women in flattering, empowering lingerie items in downtown Overland Park since 2019. Though she’s been in the business since 2009 when she first opened in the Great Mall, Miss Donna has known what her career would be since she was in high school. “I fell in love with retail as a child but was drawn to the lingerie market at 16,” she said. “I watched how some stores displayed their selections and discovered there is a huge market in the Midwest for ladies who are 30 and up.” Miss Donna said this age range is key for several reasons. Not only do women become more comfortable in their bodies after 30, she said it’s also when many changes take place such as weight after children, divorce, or other significant life changes. “Women become more ready to wear lingerie and have it work with their bodies.” She added that she is mindful of tummies, choosing pieces that will best work with typical 30+ bodies. Each guest is personally fitted by Miss Donna, who chooses items that are best suited for your body type. And if she doesn’t like it, you don’t have to buy it, she explained with a laugh. With a fun, boisterous, and positive personality, it’s her goal to make each guest feel comfortable in what they purchase. And to feel just as confident when it’s time to wear it outside of the shop. “I’m not your typical lingerie store. It’s a very fun experience. It’s my passion.” Each fitting comes with a

lesson on lingerie, and peace of mind that the item was picked for style, quality, and comfort all in one. With decades in the business, Miss Donna said she’s extremely picky for a reason, which allows her to offer the best, most flattering pieces to her customers.

Sazzy’s Lingerie offers a variety of products, from corsets which can be altered to robes, underbusts, and “soft, sexy, classy lingerie for ladies of most sizes.” In addition, the store carries gift items for all comfort levels. Gift items range in price, while lingerie pieces average around $60 up to $125 for underbusts and corsets. “I try to keep everything affordable,” she said. In addition to personalized shopping, Miss Donna hosts girls nights out, where friends can come and learn about lingerie, or even model it for one another, depending on their comfort level. A larger annual event is also held, Sazzy’s Lingerie Fashion Show, which collects funds for the Great Plains SPCA. This lingerie fashion show benefits the puppy dogs and kitty cats of Great Plains SPCA. Tickets are $40, with half of that sale going to Great Plains SPCA. Guests are encouraged to bring physical donations, such as dog/cat toys, blankets, paper towels, or Dawn dishwashing liquid. For each physical donation, guests have a chance to win prizes. The models are ages 30 and up and include all different body types. Some of the models are professionals and some are customers. This is not your typical fashion show. You will not only have a ton of fun, but you will learn a lot as well. This is a great girls night out for you and your friends. This year, Sazzy’s Lingerie Fashion Show will be on Sunday, Oct. 9, at 6 pm. Tickets must be purchased before the event. This is their third year, and each year it has sold out. Even if you come by yourself, you will know all the ladies around you at the end of the night. Energy levels are high!” Tickets are available now and the event has sold out the previous two years. All-in-all, Miss Donna says helping women feel confident is her main goal, no matter if they come in alone or attend one of her various events. “It’s a great bonding experience. When you see yourself in the right piece of lingerie, whether it’s a girls night out or you’re just shopping, you look at yourself and say, ‘Wow! I look this good.’”
