Glenn William Wortmann, MD

He remained at Walter Reed for the next 14 years, serving in a variety of positions, to include Section Director of Infectious Diseases and Program Director of the National Capital Consortium Infectious Diseases fellowship. His research interests during this period included leishmaniasis, Acinetobacterinfections and infections related to war-trauma.

Dr. Wortmann retired from active-duty status in 2012 and transitioned to the MedStar Washington Hospital Center, where he served as the Program Director of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship from 2012-2017 and continues as the Section Director of Infectious Diseases.

In 2017, he assumed an additional role as the Director of Infection Prevention for the MedStar Institute of Quality and Safety. Dr. Wortmann’s research interest now focuses on healthcare-associated infections. He remains committed to medical education and patientcare, and provides continuity care for patients infected with HIV, as well as Infectious Disease consultations in both the inpatient and outpatient areas.
