On December 21st 2012, EDS was awarded the contract to decommission the former HydroQuebec thermal generation plant located in Sorel, Quebec, Canada. Hydro-Quebec is a government-owned public utility established in 1944 by the Government of Quebec. The company oversees generation, transmission and distribution of electricity for the entire province. They are the largest electricity generator in Canada and the world’s largest hydroelectric producer. Valued at CDN$ 15M, the project scope will include equipment sales, asbestos removal, dismantling and complete site demolition. Duration of the project will be 14 months with projected end date of March 1st 2014.
